I have also used him as a business coach and always felt like I received my monies worth in every meeting. Gamechanger. This is a big statement coming from a 2nd generation General Contractor with 35+ years of experience.
My first bit of "professional" advice when first starting my own contracting business, from my accountant at the time no less, regarding how much I should charge to stay in business, was "whatever the market will bear"........ factually correct, but completely useless to a green startup.
Economic & Business Courses, countless books, seminars, "gurus", provided helpful bits and pieces for business in general, but NONE provided the start-to-finish plain-English CONSTRUCTION guidance of Markup & Profit.
Take it from a guy that somehow stumbled through the magic 3-year mark without going belly-up from overhead bloat like the other 97+% of construction startups (but also not having a personal income), don't waste another dime on other products/systems.
Michael's method is easy to understand & flat-out works, math does not lie.
Shortly after implementing the Markup methods, I was able to hire a salesman (ultimately 3) & do what I was needed to do, actually run the company. Each salesman was required to read both Markup's Estimating & also Markup's Salesman Guide as I quickly found that many can sell, but few if any can sell understanding how the costs & overheads are produced, and subsequently sell at a profit. They can always get another sales job, buy you as the owner are stuck with paying the bills and unhappy customers.
Whether you are just starting out or have many years under your belt, not a minute or dime will be wasted, easy read, easy set-up, easy implementation, and unequivocally the best source for contractors that I have ever run across.
