I had an air source heat pump fitted approx 2 years ago by James, the system has worked perfectly ever since. James is very reliable and friendly. He recently visited to service my system and again I found him to be very professional and friendly. Lucans in my opinion provide an excellent service and I would highly recommend them.
James designed and fitted a new heating system and air source heatpump into 1920s terrace in Amble that I was renovating. Really pleased with the quality of the work and attention to detail. The key with heat pumps is to do a proper heat loss calculation and think about the design to match the system to the needs; which James did with expertly.
I had a number of companies out to assess and advise me on the best approach and heat pump solution for my set up - which was complex with already having solar pv, battery storage and solar thermal. He came up with a solution that allowed me to make the most of what I had and install a heat pump with underfloor heating. He was totally up to speed with the latest developments in the heat pumps and his advice to wait and get an r290 heat pump meant that I saved over £5k and very low cost set up now without any gas. He is punctual and is committed to making sure you have a system the works with no issues.

Had an Air Source Heat Pump installed 4 years ago after getting several quotes, Lucans worked with us to get a design that we wanted, others just wanted to sell their solution. Everything was great throughout the entire process, right from the design and heat loss calculations, to getting the system installed and setup just as expected, the system has worked well ever since. We've had James back each year since to do the Air Source Heat Pump service to keep everything in top condition, can't fault anything and always good to catch up and have a chat whilst taking a look at everything, making sure it's as it should be ready for the winter ahead
James has just been out to sort out our wireless Heatmiser thermostats. All 18 of them! He’s done a sterling job as they’re all running smoothly again. Plus, he recorded himself doing one so I can repeat it myself, if necessary.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Lucans. After many crazy quotes and undeliverable suggestions, James was the first person/company to address our specific solar needs. His quote was sensible both on price and practicality. The work was done to the specified timeframe and in a tidy fashion.
We commissioned Lucans to install a Mitsubishi Ecodan ASHP and water tank in our house.
There were cheaper alternatives to Mitsubishi but we felt the extra quality was worth paying extra for, and in the "higher quality equipment" list of quotes, Lucan's was very competitive.
Our installation was complicated by the fact that we needed our existing (8mm MicroBore) central heating pipes replacing.
From the outset, Lucan's were very respectful of our property and tried to minimise the disruption; an example of this would be working to ensure that we had hot water available by the end of day 1.
They communicated their plan of action which enabled us to ensure that room access was facilitated.
During the week, they turned up early each morning (pre-08:30), which helped ensure that the work was done in a timely fashion.
Their approach was methodical and professional, remaining calm even when the inevitable issues occurred (one main issue being a huge water leak, which was not their fault, but which they addressed).
All in all, we were very impressed with Lucans during this work.
Would I want to do this job again? Absolutely not. If we had to do this work again, would I use Lucans again? Unhesitatingly.

Lucans carried out full heat loss calculations before advising me on the best air source heat pump for my property. Satisfied with the unit and unvented hot water cylinder that was specified, We had them both installed and commissioned, the old gas boiler was also removed during this process. The whole install was very professional and all work was carried out in a timely manner. A full handover was completed and we were shown how to properly operate the Air source heat pump.

I was passed James' details from a work colleague when I was looking to install solar PV and battery storage on my roof.
From our first meeting through to completion, James was brilliant. He was always providing me with updates on delivery dates.
The installation was fantastic, even when trying to find cables routes in our Victorian terrace, which isn't always an easy thing to do.
I wad so impressed that I got James back to install more solar PV on another roof on the house.

Recently had a new gas combi boiler fitted by James and some gas pipework altered behind our gas oven as it was causing a problem the gas boiler was installed in a day as he said it would and a few days later when convenient for us the pipework was altered to suit.
Both times the house was left tidy as he found it and rubbish removed I wholeheartedly recommend James for anything to do with gas in the home thank you.
James and the team fitted us with 10 new solar panels and a couple of batteries, inverters etc, and since it went live last week we have spent virtually nothing on electricity. He explained everything I might need and the differences in brands, performance, warranties etc…..
James was superb. Spent over an hour on his first visit figuring out what we wanted and what would be good value for us, depending on our home, life and kids etc. A day later we had our quote.
It wasn’t the first quote we received, I had spent over £250k installing 300 panels at my work, and asked those guys who did that job to price the work at home. They told me I would spend over 50% more than James quoted, and not only that, another £17.5k would be needed for a new roof. It didn’t add up.
Kind of wish I met James before commissioning the work job!!
James, who lives locally to me, said that was rubbish, the roof was old but fine to work with, and any cracked tiles that occurred he could just replace. Which he did - of course.
The quote came in, I said yes, all the paperwork was done and we set a date about 6-8 weeks later.
2 weeks later James rings me, he’s had a cancellation and he can do us on week 3!! Literally the Next day scaffolders are in (Saturday) and he sets to work Monday. Tuesday night (and the whole team were all there late evening) and the system is operational, the tiles are all good and the power is flowing!!
Not only this, but because of some of the old wiring in the garage, James has sorted a new wiring rig and new external fuse box in the garage and cabling to make it all up to date and safe.

It’s been fusing the washing machine for years and now it’s perfect.
Sometimes it’s nice to know you have a professional working on your home and James is exactly that. Both in his work and his attitude. I offered to pay up front as we moved timings etc, but he insisted that I only paid when invoiced - once everything was sorted.
If there were more James’ in the world we would all be better off.
