Thank you At 3 years old our son underwent a major surgery in hope that he would walk. Six months on and he was still unable to stand independently, even in the orthotics he was wearing, we were feeling deflated. Many physios had mentioned to us LOC and encouraged us to meet Sam. This was one of the best decisions we have ever made for our son. Within days of Sam producing new AFO’s and custom shoes my son was taking his first steps alone. The standard of orthotics produced were clearly above anything we had before, both via NHS routes or other orthotics providers we used. We were blown away! As a parent there is nothing more you can want than the best for your children. We have been on a long journey in the short 6 years of his life, met many professionals and tried many things. There are but a few that have made the world of difference and by far I can say that LOC has. The level of understanding of our sons condition and abilities, together with advanced technology, has come together to fine tune a pair of AFOs and shoes that have given him the optimum level of support and balance to enable the progression we wish for. Sam and his wonderful team, including Beverly and Magda, have been beyond kind, friendly and patient with us and having seen the interactions with other families whilst waiting for our appointments I can see this is not an experience exclusive to us. Thank you to you all, we are so grateful to you for giving the gift of walking to our son, for us as parents it’s what we could only wish for.

I really can’t express how grateful I am to Prof Forghany and the team at the London orthotic consultancy based at Salford University. I only wish I had known about the LOC years ago when I first started using an AFO. It could have made a significant difference to my mobility much earlier. From my very first assessment, I was extremely impressed by how thorough and professional the whole session with the Professor was. He took the time to properly understand my difficulties rather than simply looking at the AFO I was wearing and accepting that it was suitable. Prof Forghany explained in detail what was happening with my gait and, importantly, how my existing AFO was affecting the way I walked. He was able to identify problems that I hadn't previously understood and explained them to me in a way that was easy to understand. What gave me the most confidence was that I felt they were looking at the whole picture rather than simply trying to provide me with another piece of equipment. They were interested in how my leg was functioning, how I was walking, the difficulties I was experiencing and how an AFO and bespoke footwear could be designed or adjusted to work with my individual needs. The initial assessment was incredibly thorough, and I came away feeling that, for the first time in a long while, someone really understood the problems I was having with my mobility. The knowledge, expertise and attention to detail shown by Prof Forghany and his team have been exceptional. I genuinely believe that finding the LOC has given me a better understanding of my gait and how the right orthotic support can make such an important difference. If, like me, you have been using an AFO for years and feel that it isn't quite right, or that your walking could be improved, I would strongly recommend speaking to the team at the LOC. Amazing service from start to finish, I made a Consultation online. Had a video call within 48 hours and explained my son has plagiocaphaly and spoke about my anxieties, was taken seriously and invited to LOC in Kingston for a face to face appointment. Receptionist was so friendly and welcoming! Saw mr Saaed Hamid who was brilliant, took measurements and luckily told me my son didn’t need any treatment- didn’t push anything just facts, even took a scan to confirm and put my mind at ease. All round a brilliant service can’t fault them at all. Really recommend!

I have been working with Sam at LOC, before LOC existed. My last pair of AFOs lasted me 10 years and survived many travels including a walking holiday to New Zealand. Only cannot fault the service and the staff, and I was very grateful to be invited to speak at their anniversary dinner (I was essentially the comedic warm up act.) I am currently transitioning to a new pair of splints and once again, I’m sure they will last!

Thank you Jo! We were very worried about our son’s asymmetry and our son went into helmet treatment when he was 6 months old and we used the helmet for 6 months till he was 1. His head shape improved dramatically during this period (he went from moderate to normal range), we had lots of follow ups, measurements, 3d scans and Jo was very helpful during this time. He wore the helmet 23 hours a day with no issues. The GPs here were always telling us to wait but the doctors in our home country told to start the therapy and we are very glad that we did. Can’t recommend it enough if you are worried at all about your child’s head shape and have the funds for the treatment as unfortunately it’s not covered by insurance (yet).

After being turned down by another company for helmet therapy for my 5 month old daughter following surgery, I found the London Orthotic Consultancy. My first interaction was with a lovely lady called Diane, she put as at ease right away and assured us they would support my daughter throughout her treatment. This was very comforting and assuring at a time of uncertainty. I visited the offices in Kingston and met Jo, who was very friendly and helpful, and assured us they could help us. My daughter had helmet therapy for over a year and the main care was with Mr Hamid. He has been incredible with my daughter. Very patient, calm and supportive in her journey. Her helmet therapy has now ended and we will miss our monthly visits to Mr Hamid. I cannot recommend this company more. Amazing, professional team that have truly made a lifelong difference to my daughter's life.

We’ve just finished treatment to correct my son’s head shape, and the helmet has made such a difference! He wore it for 22–23 hours a day with no issues at all, and it even doubled up as protection when he started walking. The team at LOC are great, and our consultant Saeed was excellent throughout.
