I've driven past this place for literally 50 years and finally went here on a date night with my wife. We are both huge fans of Lawry's so we had very high expectations. We weren't disappointed. We went here for the prime rib...although Five Crowns didn't serve it with all the pomp and circumstance of Lawry's, the food was exceptional. The prime rib was well marbled, cooked to perfection and tasty. All the accompaniments...potatoes, creamed corn, Yorkshire pudding, au jus... were perfect. The staff was fantastic. The building has been around for years and the staff loves sharing is history. Highly recommended... great food, great ambiance, not at all "sceney"!
What a wonderful first experience at SideDoor in CDM! We stopped in for Happy Hour and were immediately made to feel at home by our server, Woody. She was so warm, easygoing, and welcoming, and took the time to tell us all about Happy Hour as well as the other drink and dinner options. She truly set the tone for the evening.
About five minutes after ordering, we checked our car app to see how our sweet doggy was doing and realized he was in distress. My partner rushed toward the door, and Ivan at the front immediately noticed something was wrong and jumped in to help without hesitation. He even brought out a little bowl of water for our pup. Thankfully, everything was okay! Woody was so thoughtful and checked back with us afterward to make sure we were all okay too.
Before we left, Ivan gave us a full tour and shared the fascinating history of the iconic Five Crowns restaurant. What a story! The tour ended outside at the mural, and we were completely blown away by the history behind this special place.
The hospitality from beginning to end was exceptional. Woody and Ivan turned our first visit into such a memorable one, and we will most definitely be back. Next time, we can’t wait to experience the dining room!

We came to Five Crowns with my family for a belated birthday dinner, and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish.
Our server, Mark, was a huge part of what made the night so enjoyable. He was personable, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about both the dinner and drink menus. We talked a bit about cognac, and he clearly knew his stuff. He also took the time to tell us about the rewards program without ever making it feel like a sales pitch.
We started with a dozen East Coast oysters, which were a great way to start the meal. I had the Delmonico steak with a cognac and a Pliny the Elder IPA, while my fiancée ordered the Crown Cut prime rib with an Old Fashioned. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The garlic butter on top really brought out the flavor of the steak, and the mushrooms paired with it extremely well.
The pacing throughout dinner was also spot on. Drinks, appetizers, and entrées all came out at the right time without us ever feeling rushed. I especially appreciated that Mark asked us ahead of time if we wanted the dark chocolate soufflé so the kitchen could get it started and have it ready around the time we finished dinner. For my birthday, they also surprised me with a strawberry shortcake-style dessert with a candle, which was a great touch.
The atmosphere is another reason I’d come back. Five Crowns has a cozy, upscale feel while still being intimate and comfortable. The restaurant was quiet enough to actually have a conversation, and the background music was at just the right level. It would be an excellent date-night spot.
I tend to rotate through the same restaurants I’ve enjoyed for years, but Five Crowns earned a spot on that list after this dinner. Excellent food, drinks, atmosphere, and genuinely great service from Mark. We’ll definitely be back.

I used to really enjoy coming to Five Crowns, but unfortunately this place has become very hit or miss, and this visit was especially disappointing.
Service was painfully slow. The manager’s explanation was that they had new kitchen staff, while our waiter told us they only had one carver working and didn’t expect to be this busy over Labor Day weekend. Seriously? It’s Labor Day weekend. For a restaurant at this price point, being understaffed and unprepared for a holiday weekend isn’t a great excuse.
We also had young kids with us who were getting hungry while we waited. After sitting there for a while, I asked our waiter if Five Crowns no longer offered bread service. He told me they didn’t, only to later come back, apologize, and admit that he had forgotten it.
Unfortunately, the food wasn’t worth the wait either. The prime rib was tough and nowhere near the quality I would expect for the price.
I’ve been coming here for years, and it’s disappointing to see the food and service decline over time. Five Crowns used to be a place I looked forward to visiting. At this point, there are too many better steakhouses in the area where the food, service, and overall experience are worth what you’re paying.
I hate to say it, but I’d skip Five Crowns and spend your money elsewhere.

Came for the prime rib. Me and wife both had the traditional cut. Hers was bigger than mine significantly. Server stated because she had the bone and mine did not. Clearly that is not the same in ounces. Most importantly the valet guys was not professional. When my child stepped out of my vehicle they open the other door and hit my son hard in the ribs. No apology. Very unprofessional. I did not tip. Still charged for the valet. Caution when coming here.

We had a disappointing time on 8/13 .. dinner was served late due to short staffed kitchen. I called MOD a few days afterwards and he apologized, and said he’d call me back. Haven’t heard a thing. Sadly thus I am extremely disappointed in the customer service with Fuve Crowns.

We just held our wedding at the Five Crowns in the month of July and it was perfect, magical, and spectacular. Carly and the team were FABULOUS! Carly came in mid-year and just blew our expectations out of the water. Carly was effective and responsive! She was helpful in brainstorming ideas and helped us make our wedding our own! Aside from that, the food was AMAZING! As we made our rounds to greet guests, everyone commented how the food was hot and delicious. So many people said it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Carly and the Five Crowns team made us feel so special. They continued to check in on us throughout the day and helped us! Carly, even, personally ran to the kitchen to get us a plate and two forks because I had forgotten that for our cake tasting!
