Excellent old-school steakhouse. New additions to seating are excellent. And the sidebar is pretty cool

We held our wedding at Five Crowns in March 2026 and loved our experience! We had a small wedding and reserved the outdoor garden patio space, which accommodates up to 50 guests, but larger wedding receptions can be held by adding the greenhouse dining room or renting out the entire restaurant. The space is beautiful, and having a venue where we could conduct our ceremony + reception in the same space was such a benefit. Five Crowns' event coordinator, Carly, was a pleasure to work with and ensured that every aspect of our event went smoothly. The entire staff assigned to our event was amazing as well! It was honestly some of the best service we can remember having at any restaurant. As plenty of other reviews can attest, the food is excellent and the portions are very generous. Event menus are very customizable- for our reception, we were able to select 2 passed appetizers, 3 meat-based entrees, 1 vegetarian entree, and 1 vegan entree, all delicious and all for a very reasonable price. We opted to allow our guests to order drinks from the regular menu, but bar options are customizable as well. We decided to bring in desserts from an outside baker, but Five Crowns was able to cut/serve our cake and provided a cake knife for photos. The garden patio is gorgeous and very private! The entire restaurant is beautiful. Another huge benefit of the location is that we were able to take a short 5-minute walk down to Little Corona Del Mar beach with our photographer to take photos by the water. There is ample valet parking for guests and the space is accessible for guests of all ages and abilities. All in all, we couldn't be happier with our experience and we would recommend Five Crowns to anyone looking for a beautiful, stress-free, and delicious option to host their wedding. Thank you Carly and the entire Five Crowns team!

Somewhat disappointing. The Wagyu prime rib not worth the extra charge and was too salty. Mashed potatoes not good, but creamed corn was. Trifle was very good. We won't be back for awhile.

Hands down some of the best service I've experienced. Thought it was a steak house, but they lean more towards their prime rib, which was really good. Wish their steaks had the same combo offer/sides offer like their prime rib, but it wasnt a big deal. Still delicious. If I could criticize anything, it was the filet was a over cooked, but flavours were there.

I need to be honest here as some reviews can be deceiving. This was my second time coming to 5 Crowns. The first time was pretty good but overpriced as I'm an exceptional cook and could cook many of the items myself. The second time I came here with my English friend. We asked for 2 simple dishes... Mac n cheese and fries. We were at first given fries without ketchup or aioli. I had to ask for these items myself. When they brought a dish of fish and chips to the table next to us it smelled rancid...like rotten fish. The Mac and cheese was what my friend wanted and it didn't look so good. It was just salty fusilli mixed with heavy cream. The aioli dipping sauce left a bad taste in my mouth and later upset my stomach. If they can't get the fries right than forget it. Someone else said the mushrooms are to die for....I think I'll pass.

Five Crowns is owned by Lawry's and is a solid English prime rib dining experience in Corona del Mar. If you've been to a Lawry's before, you know how this works. The biggest difference to note is that the spinning bowl salad that you typically get at Lawry's is NOT included with the standard prime rib offerings. So if you want a salad, you have to order that separately. I typically order the bone-in cut, so I get the Henry VIII cut, which is the thickest cut with a bone. It is currently priced at $78 and you get to choose 2 sides: Lawry's creamed corn, Lawry's creamed spinach, or mashed potatoes. It comes with au jus and Yorkshire pudding. FYI: an option could be to wait until Restaurant Week to get the pre fixe menu. If you are in the Newport Beach area and craving a prime rib experience, this is the place to go. But if you are looking for the more traditional Lawry's dining experience, then you need to make the trek to the Beverly Hills location. Parking is very tight at this Five Crowns. They only have valet parking and street parking is very limited. Be sure to make a reservation in advance.

I ordered the Prime Rib sandwich. For the second time I received a sandwich filled with fat and gristle. And for the second time, No au jus or horseradish sauce. A total disappointment!!! Never again!!!

Five Crowns is one of the more unique dining environments in Orange County. It leans into a traditional English-style steakhouse setting, which sets it apart from more modern restaurants. Prime rib is the focus, and it’s done consistently well. The menu doesn’t try to do too much, which helps maintain quality. Service is experienced and aligns with the more formal atmosphere. As someone who works locally, this is a recommendation when clients want something with character. Clients ask me about places like this when they’re looking for a dining experience that feels different from the usual options. Parking is valet, reservations recommended. It’s traditional, and that’s the appeal.

Amazing food! Our daughter booked her rehearsal dinner at this location. Fairly large group and it was a last minute request and they went out of their way to accommodate us. The staff was attentive, kind, and professional. Beverages were top shelf with wonderful wine selections. Portions sizes were large and the atmosphere was inviting and just the right size for our group. Highly recommend this restaurant. Was one of our favorite experiences during our week in Newport Beach.

Five Crowns continues to remind me why it has stayed such a Corona del Mar classic for decades. The space really does feel like a storybook English inn, with cozy dining rooms, fireplaces, a greenhouse bar, and a garden patio that makes weeknight dinners feel especially warm and relaxed. It has been a local landmark since 1965, and that sense of old school hospitality still comes through. A huge shoutout to Alejandro Vargas for some of the best service we’ve had here. Warm, polished, attentive, and just the right amount of present. That kind of service changes the whole meal. I ordered the Scottish salmon but skipped the usual sides and had it served over the Caesar instead, and it was such a good move. The salmon was delicate, fresh, and beautifully done. Their updated Caesar is absolutely worth talking about too, super citrusy, anchovy forward, and genuinely delectable. What made it stand out even more were the croutons, extra crispy and woven throughout the salad instead of just tossed on top, plus the finely shaved Parmesan that tied everything together. Easy 10 out of 10. And the bread, wow. I am not usually someone who gets overly excited about bread, but I inhaled three slices. Warm, fresh out of the oven, with melted butter and a little sea salt on the side, it was heavenly. My daughter ordered the kids chicken with fries and loved it, and the portion was so generous she took some home, then my other daughter happily finished the rest. I was so full I couldn’t even make it to dessert. The ambiance here always feels inviting, and I especially love coming on a weeknight when it is a little less hectic. I’ve also been here before for the Chilean sea bass when it was in season, and their holiday dinners on the patio are absolutely beautiful. More on social media: @ratedbymaryam
