☺Zwei große Zimmer (typisch französisch mit separater Toilette, kein Neubau, was für uns jedoch charmant war).
Sehr leckeres Frühstück.

☹Eine Kleinigkeit: mir war das Kopfkissen zu dick/hoch. Es hatte jedoch nicht jeder in der Familie damit Probleme.

I stayed in La Caminada Vielha while hiking the GR 107 across the Pyrenees and Willem and Jolie made me very comfortable and welcome after a full day’s hiking. The scenery around Montaillou which is visible from the Gîte is stunning. My room was large, extremely comfortable and quiet at night; like the rest of the house, it has been tastefully renovated and furnished and had a great view over the valley - see photo. Willem provided some interesting background details to the house, the village and castle. Best of all was the homemade dinner - precisely what a hungry hiker needed. I was on one specific walk, but there seem to be a multitude of other day hikes to consider from there which makes it an ideal place to stay more than just a night.

A really, really nice place
I rarely write reviews but make an exception for La Caminada Vielha because it was so good. Jolien & Willem were very hospitable, the room was spacious, comfortable and full of character, and the meals were superb. The location is stunning and I was treated to a beautiful sunrise. All in all, a most enjoyable experience.

Wonderful rural stay in the mountains
☺ The location in the mountains was beautiful - quite remote but well worth the drive. It would be perfect for a short walking holiday in the mountains.
We were made most welcome even though we arrived much later than expected. The owners were lovely people - very hospitable, helpful and very friendly. The accommodation was lovely, full of character and very comfortable indeed. We only stayed one night as we were driving back to UK, but would have like to have stayed longer.
The breakfast was very good - all local country produce & homemade, which was most enjoyable. We even ordered a packed lunch for our travels the next day which was also delicious.
☹ Nothing!
The only comment I would make, is that it is probably better to arrive in the daylight as the drive from Ax-les-Thermes is a bit tricky as it is located in the mountains and there are quite a few hairpin bends en route. It is very rural so at night, quite difficult to find. It took a bit longer than we thought (about 30 mins), probably as we didn't know the route. However, it hasn't put us off returning and look forward to doing so - next time with our walking boots!

Magnifique chambre d'hôte en Ariege
☺C'est une chambre d'hôte comme on espère trouver. L'accueil par les hotes est parfait, leur maison est confortable, joliment décorée, la vue est magnifique. Nous avons eu un bon dîner et le petit déjeuner est très copieux. Willem et Jolien nous ont donné de bons conseils pour la rando que nous avons entamé de chez eux vers le refuge du chioula (gr107) .
