My 2 kids have been coming here for just under a year and they absolutely love the nursery and the staff. The staff are supportive, open and have such good communicate. I cannot fault the setting or the staff.

Our son has been attending Merlin House since turning 1 year old. The staff are so lovely and provides informative feedback of his day. The setting have great facilities with soft play room, sensory play, big outdoor space and they incorporate different kinds of activities too. Highly recommended as my son loves going to Merlin House to see his friends!

Highly recommend Kiddie Capers in Hassocks. Both my children attended here one of them since they opened. They both grey massively in confidence from attending this nursery and the staff are all amazing, friendly and supportive. Thank you all so much for looking after our babies and being a massive part of their younger years!

regret not listening to the warnings I received about this nursery. However it was the only local option for under-2s and only needing minimal hours a week i thought how bad can it be?? Well where do i start- the hidden fees were frustrating sure ,but the real issue was the neglectful care. My daughter came home with severe nappy rash caused by sitting in a soiled nappy for six hours, there was unexplained bruising that the staff denied any knowledge or responsibility for. The total lack of safeguarding practices is deeply alarming. I had no choice but to withdraw her immediately. My daughter used to scream and cling to me every time i dropped her but has never behaved like this in her new setting and has never once asked to about going back which speaks volumes for a happy and sociable little girl. The setting urgently needs a complete overhaul to ensure children’s safety and well-being.

Alarming neglect and poor care

Our daughter has attended for over a year now, she took some time to settle in as she was quite anxious but all the staff were so good with her and helped ease her in each morning. She always has a great time and has built some great friendships and loves all the staff! She will be sad to leave to go off to school in September!
My son has been attending Kiddie Capers Cuckfield for 3 years and he loves going and asks when his next nursery day is. He graduates this July and he will truly miss it . Kiddie Capers have done an outstanding job with his development over the years and getting him ready for school. The outside space and forest school have been a big hit for my son. The hot meals have been great for him to try new foods . The communication through the app has been amazing to know exactly what he has been up to , eaten etc .. I have recommended kiddie Capers to a number of people who now attend there. OUTSTANDING childcare !
I cannot recommend Merlin House enough. My daughter has been going to this nursery since May 2025. She absolutely loves going in, saying hello to her nursery teachers and seeing her friends.
I have been very happy with the communication on the famly app as it keeps us updated with what food she has eaten, how long she has slept for and what activities she has taken part in.
I particularly liked the opportunity to go into her room for a stay and play. It was really lovely to see her with her friends, meet the staff I may not have met before and to join in with the activities she enjoys the most.
This nursery has allowed my partner and I to go to work each day knowing our daughter is being cared for so well.

A great nursery with lovely staff. I have 2 children at the setting who are both very happy and developing well. The baby room is brilliant with a separate nap space and their own dedicated outdoor area. My daughter has a milk allergy and they have been exceptional in managing this and providing her with a variety of snacks and meals.

Since my little girl started there In September last year she has absolutely thrived! Every single one of the staff are just absolutely amazing, I drop my little girl off to the incredible staff knowing they all love her, they open the door with open arms and she runs and jumps into them giving them all the biggest cuddle and as a mum that is the most amazing thing for me to see, I know that when I walk away she’s going to have the best day with them,
They send photos every day telling us what she’s been doing, she has SO MUCH fun every single day, she comes home happy, fed, and loved!
Jas & Katie are actual earth angels, my little girl loves them so much! I actually have to use them to bribe her to get out of bed in the morning, she’s made so many little friends, they help her with potty training, they’ve made us cards for Christmas. Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day! They are all SO thoughtful,
She brings home drawings and things she’s made.
Emily who is the manger here is so lovely, any question I’ve ever had she’s replied straight away and done everything she can to help when ever we’ve needed any help.
They are all kind, caring, loving and 100% trustworthy I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else,

My child currently attends KCC in Cuckfield and absolutely loves it, my child is thriving in every aspect of preschool learning. The setting is amazing, not overcrowded, it is in the centre of open fields, has great parking for those busy quick morning drop offs, it is close to woodlands for forest school, or bug hunts, which my child has really enjoyed. The nursery practitioners well they are all fantastic, going above and beyond, Gracie my child adores, she is absolutely amazing with all the children. I would highly recommend this nursery to any parent looking for the best amazing start to their child’s preschool journey.
My daughter has LOVED going into nursery every day. All the staff take such good care and make us feel so reassured that she is safe and happy. She is so comfortable with every single member there and has been thriving since the start. It has been the best decision sending our little one here.
My daughter has been attending for a year and since joining she has grown in confidence. When she first joined she had limited vocabulary and now her speech has improved. She loves her time at nursery. The staff are always friendly and approachable she also has a lovely bond with her allocated staff member. She loves most of the activities provided but particularly enjoys singing and tidying up.
Merlin House provides an exceptionally well-run, safe, and nurturing environment. The staff are highly competent, consistent, and maintain excellent structure, which has been extremely beneficial for my twin daughters, Poppy and Willow.
The communication from the team is consistently clear, professional, and detailed, ensuring I am kept accurately informed of their daily progress through the Famly App. The regular updates, including photos, observations, personal care records, and details of food and drink intake, provide valuable insight into the girls’ experiences and development.
As a childcare professional myself, the most important aspect for me is observing how staff interact with the children and how effectively they create a child-focused Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) environment. Merlin House consistently demonstrates a strong understanding of children’s needs, promoting their learning, independence, confidence, and social development.
The girls benefit from nutritious and enjoyable meals, a consistent staff team, and the absence of reliance on agency workers, which provides them with familiar and secure relationships with the adults caring for them. This consistency is particularly important for young children and supports their sense of safety and belonging.
The opportunities provided beyond the nursery setting are also excellent. Regular visits to the local library and participation in additional activities support the girls’ wider development, including their communication skills, social awareness, independence, and understanding of the world around them.
My son has had a wonderful two years at Kiddie Capers and the fantastic staff have prepared him brilliantly for starting school in September. All the team are so friendly, welcoming, caring and kind and I take him there knowing he is in the best hands. Thank you Kiddie Capers - he has thrived with you!
