To preface, my friend and I are both Filipinos who consistently eat the cuisine and cook it ourselves. On average, we enjoy filipino food in NYC. We got Kare Kare and Chicken Inasal and was so disappointed in the taste. The kare kare only looked like kare kare - the stew itself had no taste in addition to the beef being also unseasoned. The shrimp paste (bagoong) was not enough to save it. Came with a friend who is from Bacolod, land of Inasal. The Inasal rice was both super oily & dry(over or undercooked?), the inasal chicken seasoning felt like it was mild.
My family’s Filipino and my mom’s a harsh critic, but she loved this place. We got the Kamayan Style feast along with the Kare Kare everything was AMAZING. staff was also great. They let us try the ube ice cream which was some of the best I’ve ever had. So rich like it should taste.
Alessi also let us sample a lot of the drink menu and they were all incredible! Adding this place to my go to recommendation list. Will definitely be back!
This is my fav spot to happy hour man. The staff, Alesi, Raneem, and Jeremiah, are a MACHINE that keeps it going. I bring my friends here to trauma dump for dinner and just chilling at the bar is very pleasant too. Usually I have a lot to say but I’m gagged. They have karaoke on Sundays. Whichever day u go tell em ben sent u
