Loved our trip to Lisbon Portugal and surrounding areas. The idea of keeping our trip a secret until you get to airport was thrilling. Having Journee take care of all the leg work with accommodations, flights and excursions definitely made our trip relaxing and hassle free. We definitely plan on doing another Journee trip in the future and highly recommend anyone who wants to go on an adventure to book a journey with Journee.

Journee completely elevated my holiday in Portugal. I loved the balance of independent time and unique pre-booked experiences. From the breathtaking sunset off-road tour to the boat trips at Ponta da Piedade and Benagil, every detail was thought out. I have done two Journee trips so far and I would definitely recommend them. The matching process was easy and fun and I loved the sense of mystery and the clues really build excitement. I also think their customer service is really responsive and helpful. My sister has coeliac disease and staff were very good at reassuring us the destination would have enough for her to eat without giving away the surprise. We have decided to make mystery holiday May our tradition now so I'm excited for what next year brings us!

This was our 2nd Journee adventure. We had fabulous accommodation at both Lisbon and Porto. The itinerary that was organised for us was spectacular and still left us with plenty of free time to do our own exploring. I was sent to Iceland, which had been on my “must-do” for years. I booked the trip because it was obvious from the proposal where I would be going and the clues that were sent just confirmed my suspicions.
I had picked 4/5 on the activity-level scale and we were so overbooked with activities that we had to skip a day just so we could explore Reykjavik. Nearly every day was a 6-12+ hour bus excursion. The activities they picked for us were not “off the beaten path,” they were top tourist attractions and our “small group” tours were never less than 20 people. I would have liked a little more personalization with both the itinerary and the recommendations. The “guide book” we received was a joke. With “places to see in Reykjavik” containing mostly places outside the city and we were barely given any time to see anything even within the city anyway.
I will say our accommodations were great. The food was fantastic (which had nothing to do with Journee). Flights were fine, transfers and excursions were fine.
Overall, this was a good intro to Iceland and i fully plan on going back there with my own itinerary.
I did book another trip with Journee coming up in April, but again it was obvious from the proposal where we’re going and my first two clues have confirmed it for me. I am hoping we get some more personalized, small group tours in Ireland, but I won’t hold my breath.
This time I picked 3/5 on the activity scale so I’m hoping we have a bit more downtime to explore on our own, but judging from some other reviews, I think it’s going to be overwhelmingly busy again, which is unfortunate.
I do recommend Journee if you want an introduction to a country or city, but not if you want something hyper-personalized. You’re definitely going to get dumped onto regular tour buses going to busy tourist attractions.
Update, after trip 2 - I can't give half stars on Google, but I would give this one 3.5
We had our trip to Ireland and it was nice, but very similar "issues" to my Iceland review. We had one small group tour that consisted for 7 people, 8 with the guide. THAT is what I want for a small group tour. The rest of our tours were 20+ people on a large tour bus going to top attractions, not at all off the beaten path.
We had two destinations in Ireland, Dublin and Galway. I would have preferred to stay in one place, as it was kind of chaotic moving across the country mid-week and 3 days in either city isn't nearly enough time.
3/5 on the activity scale seemed more our speed. Days were full, but not overwhelming. I still would have liked to have more time in Dublin to explore the city and go to some museums.
Again the guide book that you're given with your packet is... not great. It's extremely basic and the suggestions were, again, things that we didn't have any actual time to do.
We met several other couples on a Journee trip and we all had pretty much the same itinerary, no matter what we picked as the things we're interested in doing. Despite that, we all agreed we would be going on a Journee trip again.
Accommodations were, again, fine. Very nicely located in Dublin, a little further outside the city center in Galway.
Tours were fine.
My main issue this time was that Journee deliberately gave the wrong information on the packing list in order not to spoil the surprise (it was the adapter we would need to bring) - they mention this in the packet that you're meant to open at the airport. Since we already knew we were going to Ireland, it wasn't a problem, but if we didn't know? That would have been some actual bullshit.
Overall, the trip was a nice intro to Ireland. We enjoyed the excursions and loved the small group hike we went on - we will be seeking that tour company out again, when we return to Ireland. Food was great and we met some really lovely people.
Now that Journee is offering 10-day trips, I think that will be our next trip with them. Hopefully, this will give us more time to explore a city and feel more immersed, less like an intro to trip.

Your request first came in on May 5th, and our team began working on it immediately. Over the following three days, we were in constant communication with our airline partners to try and get your upgrade confirmed. The primary hurdle was that since we booked the flights for you, our contact details were linked to the reservation. This caused a technical conflict that prevented changes from being made online by either you or us, and it made it more difficult for us to finalize the upgrade over the phone.
During this time, we also successfully arranged wheelchair assistance for you at the gate and for your connecting flight, which we were glad to get sorted quickly. Regarding the upgrade, we kept pushing and were finally able to get your contact details updated on the evening of May 7th. We understand you were then able to call Lufthansa directly the following morning to secure the upgrade yourself - we’re really glad that worked out for you!
We know how uncomfortable a long haul flight can be, and we genuinely wish we had been able to sort this faster for you. Our team was working on this right up until the end, and we never stopped trying. We’re sorry it didn’t feel that way from your side.

My vacation with Journee was awesome. The teaser hints built suspense and excitement. Their planning of the trip from travel to accommodations to excursions made everything effortless on my part. I just had to pack and go. When weather canceled one excursion, Journee took care of everything by switching the excursions up so I could still enjoy all the activities. As a solo traveler, I felt safe knowing Journee was there for me when I needed them.
Just returned from my second trip planned by Journee. My surprise destination of the Algarve was indeed a surprise; hadn’t been on my radar at all, so it was great to discover it with guidance by Journee. The accommodations were fantastic, especially given my limited budget. Kayaking almost didn’t happen, what with three days of rough seas canceling most tour operators’ trips, but I managed to squeeze a trip in on the morning before my afternoon departure. Loved the kayaking company Journee had selected, as I felt they were a cut above others offering similar trips. Overall, an outstanding vacation!
