We first met Garrett when he knocked on our door on a 'cold call' some time during the mid 2000s. He was earnest, and he was interested in us, and he seemed motivated to sign us up as clients. We weren't really looking for a financial advisor at the time, but he seemed like a great guy personally, so we decided to trust him with our financial future. And that decision has worked out extremely well for us. He's managed our portfolio really well, and has successfully guided us financially from our days as a working couple to today, when we're both retired. Our portfolio is configured to keep us secure in our retirement, but also to allow a bit of potential growth in certain areas, and we're doing very well under Garrett's stewardship. We deeply feel that beginning our financial relationship with Garrett all of those years ago was certainly the right decision. We've never been disappointed with what Garrett and his staff have done for us over the years.

Garrett Imeson has been my advisor since he graduated from college. He was knocking on doors. I am lucky that he knocked on mine. I was a widow trying to manage my own affairs. My husband’s advisor was in LA county, so reviews meant hours in traffic for me. That advisor had allowed my account to be decimated in the crash of 2008. I lost half of our accumulated stock market wealth in that crash. Garrett was persistent. He visited me many times at my door. I decided he knew what was up with finances and he finally persuaded me to take a chance. It was so good to visit his first office in Pacific Beach. I appreciated Garrett for his business and market skills. But I also valued him as a man who had good family values. He was involved in baseball and coached kids. He was not some flybynight scammer. I am responding to Garrett’s newsletter about gratitude. I am a firm believer in it and know that it is a power to build on when you need peace and strength. My husband passed on in October in a foreign country. It was an extremely difficult and unexpected situation. When the hospital called at midnight to tell me that he had passed, I had a very strong thought come to me…”You can be the grieving widow or the grateful wife.” I have absolutely chosen the grateful wife! We had 50 plus happy and productive years together and I can think all day about things that I feel such gratitude for. It doesn’t mean that I don’t miss his partnership and presence, but it does mean that I haven’t felt heavy and sad. Be grateful and you will be lifted up by it. Garrett has served as our financial advisor for about 10 years now and I hope to keep working with him for at least another 20 years. When we first met, we had an unstructured sense of what a proper retirement plan is. Within a year we constructed a solid plan tailored to the unusual career path we've taken as full time self employed consultants in artificial intelligence instead of joining large tech companies. I think the behavioral coaching aspect has been the largest benefit in working with Garrett. I have no fear knowing that time in the market beats timing the market.
