Cute place with ok food but quite expensive for the portion size you get and tbh not worth going back to. Felt more like a tourist place for people waiting for their trains than an actual good lunch spot.
Also a tiny eating area where everyone is very squashed in and the staff aren’t very attentive both serving wise and sitting you down to eat.
Thank you very much for visiting and the lovely review. Glad to hear that you enjoyed our food.
Hope to welcome you again soon.

This café is one of London’s hidden gems and genuinely feels like a little slice of Japan. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere, attention to detail, and warm hospitality make you feel as though you’ve stepped into a neighborhood café in Tokyo.
The food is fantastic and incredibly authentic. The breakfast options are delicious, the sandwiches are fresh and perfectly made, and the onigiri are some of the best I’ve had outside Japan. Everything is prepared with care and tastes just like the food you’d find in Japan.
Having recently visited Japan, I can honestly say this place captures the experience remarkably well. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese comfort food and a true taste of Japan in London, this café is an absolute must-visit.
Thank you very much for visiting and taking time to write such a lovely review. It means a lot to us. Glad to hear that you enjoy our offerings. Hope to welcome you again soon!

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!! EVERYTHING IS SLOW.
The lack of customer services is unforgivable. I am not expecting getting a 5 star level customer service but this is really DISAPPOINTING. When we got inside, NONE of the staff looks welcoming and no instruction of what to do next is provided. All we can do is stood there awkwardly and wait as it is so packed and narrow inside this cafe. At the end we waited 10mins and finally got seated (there's no one sitting on that table when we got inside but the staff didn't clear the table).
The portion size of the food is petite comparing to it's price. we ordered 4 onigiri and 2 drinks, it ended up with £24.90. Waited 20mins for the drinks and another 15mins for the food. And the food is not even good at all!!
Defo not recommending this place to others. DON'T GET FOOLED BY ALL THE NICE COMMENTS. You will ended up with huge disappointment and regret. No smile on staff face and they have no communication between each other as if they don't want to work as a team. The lady sitting next to me eating food from outside and none of the staff stopped her, then what is the point of me paying high price for the served food in-shop?
NEVER coming back again!!!!!!!!!
Re: I understand it’s a small business but that still doesn’t justify the lack of customer service and guidelines.
Not me wanting to be harsh as you say but nothing I see is positive. I respect the fact you are running the business in the heart of London but that’s my freedom to express. People who comeback will do as they always do but just want to let others know don’t come with high expectations.
Thank you very much for visiting and giving us a chance to serve you. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with us was unpleasant.
We get incredibly busy, especially on Saturdays, and we try our best to meet the demand. Unfortunately, our efforts fell short of your expectations.
We’re a small family-run cafe, dedicated to serving our community throughout our opening hours. We work as hard as we possibly can.
Although you may think our prices are unreasonable, as a cafe in the heart of London, we try to keep our prices as low as possible.
Very harsh comments like yours make us wonder how small businesses like ours can get by.

I had a great experience at Ikoi Japanese cafe. The Matcha was absolutely perfect, for texture, temperature and taste. I cannot say I've had better, and I've been to many Japanese matcha cafes.
I also had the Donburi Beef which lighter than expected but full of flavour.
The staff were extremely accommodating, the atmosphere was relaxed and they even sell some of their spices (which I purchased to take home) and some other Japanese snacks and sweets.
Overall, I'd recommend Ikpi Japanese cafe, but if you know your matcha, then Ikoi is a MUST for you. You'll thank me later.
Thank you very much for visiting and sharing such a wonderful review with us. It truly means a lot to us.
Enjoy the chilli peppers at home too. Hope to welcome you again soon!

Seriously wonderful little cafe. 5-7 min walk from King’s Cross. Where locals go.
Open Tuesday to Saturday breakfast, lunch and an early supper.
I love the Udon noodles, so lush, tasty broth and the noodles are chewy and perfect.
They have those tasty authentic Japanese egg sandwiches and the match panna cotta is a must try.
They do specials with Ongri, edamame and a drink.
All so affordable and super healthy and tasty. I travel from Grimsby every month to eat here .
A Gem of a place and must to try when in London.
Thank you very much for visiting and leaving such a lovely review. Our beef sukiyaki is a family recipe which my grand mother passed it to my mum and then down to me. They’d be so glad to hear that 🥰 Hope to welcome you back soon!

The first time I tried Japanese breakfast and I absolutely loved it. We also tried the donburi, salmon and salt onigiri, yuzu fizz, and daifuku mochi. Everything feels very homemade, nutritious, and delicious. The highlight for me is the rice - they use premium Japanese rice, delicious!
We were here on Saturday, arrived at 12pm and the cafe was full but we were the first in the queue. I asked if they put down names and number of party (they did not) but then a staff came out and asked for it. Not long, 10 mins or so, we had our table. I think we were lucky - because when we left an hour after, there was a long queue outside!
The cafe is small with only 5 or 6 tables, they don’t have time limit of how long we can stay and we don’t have to order in one go (so we can keep adding items). While I appreciate this, perhaps considering the long queue outside, some rules can be applied? Some people just linger on their table when they’re done with their food.
The staffs are very nice and accommodating - explaining the menu and giving recommendations. Just come in early or avoid weekends if you can :)
Thank you very much for visiting and the review. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the products we offer.
We would like to take your suggestions on board. As it gets overwhelmingly busy often on Saturday, we would like to implement some sort of rules in the near future. Much appreciated your honest opinions.

Always a pleasant experience ordering in or to go. I love to get the salmon salt onigiri, so fresh and tasty! The donburi with rich yolk egg is also a favourite of mine. Recommend to those in King’s Cross.
Thank you very much for the loyal support. Much appreciated. Glad to hear that you enjoyed our food. Hope to welcome you again soon!

This place is a gem. The staff is very welcoming and polite, the food is all very good (I particularly like the takana onigiri, and the warabi mochi with kinako). Very happy to support this cafe.
