I used Hughes removals to do a whole house packing service, move the entire contents into storage and move me into my new house two months later. Ruth in the office was super helpful arranging dates a short notice, really accommodating and efficient, 5 lads came to pack me up, they took care with all my possessions, wrapping everything individually and packing into boxes then crates, they were really friendly fast and efficient and worked round me. And at the other end moved all my boxes to the correct rooms in an organised timely way Building beds, placing furniture exactly where I wanted it all with a smile and a joke. 5 star service couldn't fault them they were fantastic Would highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Due to health matters it has taken me nearly a year to write this review, on 1st of September 2024 Hughes removals moved our house contents of 27 years from York to Helperby, and what an amazing job they made of it! Starting with Mr Hughes himself coming round and looking at the job in hand and giving us a quote, then to the day itself, they turned up at 7.30 various vans and good guys worked very hard and by 4pm we were in our new home, everything where we wanted it, perfect! Also another great part of Hughes removals is storage, we still have a lot of thing in storage in the Hughes warehouse and very well priced and extremely safe… I honestly could not recommend Hughes removals highly enough, the whole thing ran so smooth and nothing was to much trouble.. Brilliant …👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

What a fantastic team at Hughes Removals. The office were quick to respond to my request for a quote (and throughout with any questions). Melvin who arrived to quote was friendly with advice readily available and he put my mind at ease with what seemed like a short turnaround time - the quote was very reasonable. The guys arrived promptly on moving day, again very friendly, had a good laugh and just made what can be a stressful day, a whole lot easier. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Thanks to Ray, Nick, Darren and Martin, I couldn't have asked for a better removals experience today. I downsized from a big house to a tiny one, 200 miles away and with 7 weeks of storage in between. Today, despite my car not starting first thing and the team discovering the A1 was closed, they worked solidly and cheerfully to unload at the new property and then at my daughter's a few miles away. They were so helpful, suggesting ways of fitting far too much stuff into too little space, checking that doors would close, asking me which layout I'd prefer, handling fragile things carefully and always remaining polite and pleasant despite a very long working day. What a fantastic team. I'm so glad I chose Hughes - they came recommended by several friends, and I can see why. Thank you too to Paul, Sheryl and Ruth from a delighted customer.

Moved house with them. Very affordable. Definitely would recommend. The bunch of lads who moved us were really good. The only downside I would say is they underestimated how much stuff we had even though they had been to look at our house and stuff. They only sent one van and realised they needed to send a second van and we still had to fill our cars up and we quite luckily managed to get pretty much everything to the house. We did have to leave a couple of little things that didn't really matter for the next people just because we couldn't fit everything in. It would have been nice if we didn't need to worry about that. Next time we move if we ever do that would be something we would like for the removal firm to do everything. Just something hopefully Hughes will look into but having said that we still recommend Hughes. That what I've just said is only a small thing to improve. Still feel we received a great service and very affordable.

What a great team! We had a fantastic experience with Hughes who emptied our house into their storage facilities and then delivered it all again to our new house a few weeks later. We also had a semi packing service, where they packed all of our kitchen and breakables and artwork etc, supplying all of the boxes and materials for this as well. The whole team were fantastic throughout, from Paul’s initial visit to quote for us which gave me total confidence, all the way through to delivery. Nothing was a bother and they dealt with some challenging access and a lot of stairs! I would not hesitate to recommend Hughes - they were also really great value, and went the extra mile to be flexible in their approach to help fit in with the challenges of moving dates!

We moved home with the Hughes team in June. They were a pleasure to deal with right from the initial visit and quote. On the move day the teams were extremely helpful and accommodating, assisting with all the usual little hurdles that moving throws up. They completely took the stress out of the day for us and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Not the greatest, after having two lots of provisional dates booked with them, Ruth Hughes then argues with me on the phone saying that I never confirmed dates. Consequently no date in that week are available but they are three weeks hence. Think carefully before using Hughes removals. Ruth, if you are unable to tell the truth, then try not speaking. You will lose customers by being a liar!

You had a provisional booking for next week which we had to chase you about - a 2 day and two large van job. You asked if two other dates were free and were going to come back to us straight away but did not. Today you rang to say that you were cancelled for next week and you had not cancelled, you said you were booked for the following week but had not booked these dates (you admitted you forgot because you work 70 hours a week) and now we cannot accommodate the dates you are unhappy.

Brilliant service from start to end - Sheryl & her fabulous team were just fantastic. The quote for moving and between move storage were excellent value for money. The team turned up on time, were quick, efficient, polite and tidy. They helped to disassemble / reassemble furniture and move stuff around in our new home. I would definiteyl recommend them, and use them again in the future.

I requested a quote for a specific move date and had someone come to survey the house and belongings. Two days later, I received a quote along with a contract of acceptance. I promptly filled out and signed the contract, returning it within 15 minutes. Shortly after, I received a curt email stating, "Unfortunately, we are now fully booked on the 15th." No alternative dates were suggested. After several emails, whereby I had to chase them for another time slot, they simply replied, "No, sorry." To be clear, this review isn't because the company had no availability. It happens! The review is based on my overall experience with their terrible customer service. Which is one of the poorest I've ever seen. After a very frustrating experience, I wished them an "awful weekend" and managed to book in with another company an hour later. Reply to the Owner: If the date I specified in the original request was no longer available, why wasn’t that communicated before you sent the contract? And why weren’t any alternative dates provided in your follow-up response when you informed me that the 15th was unavailable? I had to chase you for other available dates—twice! The issue isn’t about first come, first serve. I understand that businesses can only schedule based on their availability. The real problem is your dreadful communication (single sentence, dead end communication) and complete lack of good customer service, which you seem oblivious to. Which I can't help you with. Instead of talking about "disrespect", how about a little introspection. Focus your energy into being not completely awful for your next potential customer (god, help them).

Thank you for taking the time to give us a review and sorry that you were disappointed because we couldn't book in your move. However, as explained bookings are on a first come first served basis and this is our busiest time of the year. You were offered other dates but they were not convenient for you. Signing off your e-mail "have an absolutely awful weekend" is disrespectful!!

We cannot thank the team for everything they did for us in helping my mum move house. Everyone was fantastic and when mum was stressing, they were brilliant with her and were so super amazing. They calmed her, talked her through everything and looked after her, and handled all her possessions with professionalism and caring. I was let down by a previous company who were unable to help us when we were advised of a moving date. Your company went out of their way to help us and to accommodate our timelines in such a short period of time. For this , at such a stressful time, everyone in your company was so helpful and accommodating.. I have no hesitation in recommending and giving 5 stars.
