I cancelled my service October 2024, sent equipment back. December they took 370.00 and 30.00 out of my account. I got 370.00 and was told I would get the other 30.00 back. Never happened. They overdrew my account 400.00 dollars. They also said we would get a 100.00 gift card for getting their service. That never happened. They tell you lie after lie. I definitely would not recommend this company.. I don't understand how some workers can tell you one thing and the next four people tell you differently
Cons, Garbage, drops constantly, takes forever even loading documents. Upgraded our modem to the newer modem & HughesNet extender. The upgrade was worst than our old modem, in which they took. Drops constantly & lags. The 1100 modem & dish was better than hughesnet newer modem with the extenders. Misleadings of representating that our mesh 5 extender was most likely the culprit & hughesnet modem only work with hughesnet extender, which was the red flag I seen when I heard the installer say this to my mom. Every word out of his mouth was a lie. I wasn't paying for it so I couldn't really say nothing. Spanish speaking installer just once more showing us Americans why we should not take what they tell us seriously. Seriously, they give us 3rd world customer service & even worst products that do not live up to their words. You're gonna get poor products from poor workmanship. We need quality american made products to be made in america by americans & Q.C. checked & labeled to be a thing for our future. This chinese products & assembled in mexico made products is bad for business & consumer use. Stop the mistreatment of products made to fail, otherwise America fails!
Not good for streaming anything. Very bad service in Michigan area. Was told that they would remove the satellite off my roof when I cancelled to now as I cancel my subscription they tell me that it will have to stay up there or pay extra to take it off my roof. That’s not what I was told by tech that installed my system. Not worth the $130 I had to spend for years because of the contract they never mention until you get it.
I’ve had Hughesnet twice now. 1st time was a disaster about 10 years ago or so. This time, no different. They allow your first month to go smoothly (by not limiting your usage). Next month they throttle you back so you’ll have to update your subscription and pay more. Total scam. Oh, and get ready to pay up to $400 to cancel and you gotta uninstall the giant hideous equipment bolted to your house yourself and send back the parts they want or another $300 they will charge you.
If I could put negative stars I would. I had them for 2 weeks and tried contacting the tech to cancel. I was finally able to cancel. Now I owe over a thousand dollars with them. I only had service for 2 weeks and had to get Xfinity because I had no service during the day for school. This company is terrible. They don't care about customers.
As a customer of Hughes Net in the past, I had nothing but trouble, from the prices changing month to month, to our internet running out or not working. It was frustrating to say the least. Recently I decided to give them a second chance, and I am glad I did. We had been double charged for the month of November, and so I did what any bill payer would do I contacted them. I was first told that I had missed a payment and therefore there was nothing that they could do. So I hung up and got my invoices together. I called them back a few days later, explained the issue. I was then transferred to the supervisor, Jesus. And let me just say, Jesus was great. He listened to me, we went over the invoices together and he got it all figured out. Not only was he polite but he was knowledgeable. He refunded the money back to my account and not once did he make me feel as if I was incompetent. Hughesnet way to go hiring this young man. You need more employees like him. Thank you so much, Jesus.
Having several issues and this is only my 2nd day having the service. Free install does not include coax ran more than 125ft and if the installer decides to put a pole in your yard. I have several holes drilled to run cables into the attic but instead of using a hole already there, drilled a hole in the side of my house. Which apparently the installer gets to decide where the modem and satellite go. My wife was the only one home and installer did it the quickest way he could while not worrying about its actual usability. PLUS he handed my wife the mesh modem and said she can plug it in wherever to get further service. Then after some customer service calls I was told the mesh router had to be 10ft from the modem.
The company initially provided excellent customer service, including during installation and offering a new customer discount and a rebate. However, they withheld key information. They recommended a data plan they said would suit a 12-person Airbnb, but the data quickly ran out, requiring an upgrade to a much more expensive plan. Although I planned to sell the property within two years, they was locked into a 24-month contract with high cancellation fees.
Have had HughesNet since 2011 and upgraded twice but the service was never as advertised. Fiber optic has just been installed in my neighborhood and I have switched. When I called Hughes Net to cancel on 11/2, they told me it won’t be effective until 11/14 which happens to be the end of my billing cycle that way I do not get a refund for 1/2 of a month. What a ripoff.
Stay away if you can. Several alternatives available even in rural areas. Aside from weak and unreliable internet, and almost nonexistent customer service, they are essentially thieves. Tried to cancel service and they wanted to charge me $100 per unit, $200 total. So you have to pay for them to remove their own equipment. Alternatively, they actually advised me to "climb up on the roof" to disconnect device. Talk about idiotic and irresponsible customer service personnel. Was able to get them to send a technician to do removal for free. So, question is, if you call and make a stink, they remove for free? If you risk your life to remove equipment for them, it's also free?
We got the “new” HughesNet in March of 2024 and it was trouble from the start. So horribly slow that it was unusable. We called them and they tried to fix it remotely. That didn’t work so they sent out a technician because we only had it about twenty days. That fixed it for about two days and then it went back to what is was before. I called and they would try to fix it remotely. I gave up after trying to get it fixed. We mostly used our phones. I finally called again in August 2024 and they determined that the internet was unusable. They gave us their service for free for the month of September 2024. They said the problem was a tower malfunction in our area and that it would be fixed in a couple of weeks. It never got fixed so in October I finally called them to quit. They charged us $325.00 for quitting their horrible service. I disputed the charge with my bank and told them what had happened. They didn’t see it my way. Corporations take care of corporations. Avoid this company. They charge too much and there is no service. I found out recently that Verizon had internet service in my area out here in the country and it actually works. Download speeds over 300 mb/sec and upload of 18 mb/sec.
