Estuve hace 2 meses con otro matrimonio. Y estoy de acuerdo con el comentario de Alejandra Rossi q se alojó hace también 2 meses. El lugar no es un 3 estrellas. La ubicación para llegar a las habitaciones es dificultosa. Si SOS una persona mayor con algún impedimento, no es para vos. No está cerca del lago. Subido en la montaña. Y Rita hay q saberla llevar. Tiene un carácter difícil. No es una persona amigable. El buen trato lo tiene Roxana. Súper agradable!!

La próxima vez que ocurra, en vez de que te ahorre una multa por haber dejado el coche en dos aparcamientos, te pondré cuatro. Nunca he visto gente tan mala como tú, porque yo no trato mal a nadie. De hecho, hice más de lo necesario por ti. Y no puedes decir que estuviste aquí, porque si no, te arrepentirás: publica el comprobante de que estuviste aquí, si es que lo tienes. Hotel Il Portichetto is a wonderful place to stay just above Lake Como by Varenna (area called Vezio. The hotel is like an Italian village walking down narrow cobblestone streets to get to our room. Rooms were comfortable and had a wonderful on-site restaurant by the same name, which made it great just arriving from the States. Food was fantastic.
There is a garden and historic castle about 100 meters from the hotel that overlooks Lake Como with spectacular views.
On top of that, the hosts, Rita, Rosanna and Pippo (the dog) were so welcoming to make our visit a treasured memory!
Best spot to relax and enjoy near Varenna!

Home Away From Home - Not For Mobility Challenged
☺ Thank you so much to Rita & the staff - they truly made this place feel like home for my family and 15 month-old baby. Every morning we were greeted with fresh cappuccinos, homemade croissants & other breakfast goodies. They had a spot set up for my son every morning to eat, and graciously cleaned up our bibs, plates, etc. that we brought every time. Rita also helped with logistics and giving us recommendations on what to do.
The actual apartment was very nice & had everything we wanted! The view is outstanding & it's on the route of the Wayfarers path.
Note: This hotel is above the Varenna city in a town called Perledo. To get up here, it's a 15 minute walk (at a brisk pace) and 500 feet of elevation gain. It's essentially at the top of the hike to the castle. We are in good shape so we thought it would be no big deal, but found we really only had the energy to do this once or maybe twice per day. The night bus was easy to catch but only leaves once it's full, so it wasn't as good of a solution as I thought it would be.
I thought the restaurant on property was just ok. My husband liked it & others staying on property did as well. The restaurant staff was sweet as can be. There is literally nothing else around in Perledo except for this amazing restaurant that's new called La Serra Bistrot ($$$) in walking distance.

When you booked, you saw clearly that it wasn't in Varenna, but above (Hotel Diffuso Il Portichetto on the Perledo hill, Vezio), so it's clearly specified.
I'm sorry about the night bus, and I didn't know it only left when it was full.
If you had told me, I would have called the municipality to report it.
Because it had to travel constantly.
As for the restaurant, we don't have one, but there are two nearby restaurants.

Great value for money if able to navigate steep hills
☺ We very much enjoyed our stay here. From the very first moment we arrived at the train station, Rita (the owner) was there to pick us up and take us up the hill to the hotel, ensuring we didn't have to struggle up the hill with our bags.
Once we arrived, Rita was very helpful in explaining how everything worked, things we needed to know and even arranged a taxi for us for after we checked out.
The room was very spacious and had everything you'd need in it. With the amount of space available, it would have been nice to have a small table with a couple of chairs or something, but not the end of the world - there was just a lot of extra space.
The hotel was not too far away from Varenna village and the lake. From the hotel, it is a 10 minute walk down a very steep hill. Going down was fine, just a little tough on the knees. Going back up the hill afterwards was much harder though. I'd recommend thinking twice about this if mobility is an issue. There is an option to catch a free mini bus back up the hill (from the train station) in the evenings though. This mini bus was easy to understand and was reliable for the couple of times we used it.
The hotel is located in a small village up in the mountains called Vezio. This is a very nice little place which is very quiet, and we did not hear any noises or have any disturbances while we were staying here. Just be aware there is also not much to do up here other than visit the castle and the restaurant which is basically next to the hotel.
Breakfast was pretty good considering it was included in the price. It was mostly continental with a couple of cooked extras. It was enough for us and certainly fuelled us for our travels.
The hotel is also home to Rita's dog, Pippo. He is a good boy and very friendly to all guests.
Rita made herself available via whatsapp for anything we needed during our stay, and other staff members were great too.
☹ Walls of the rooms were very thin, so you could hear conversations, toilets flushing etc. in the neighbouring rooms. This didn't take too much away from our experience, and appreciate the rooms were still great value for money, but maybe bring some ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
Good morning, thanks for the review. Of course, if you book a hotel on a hill, as you did, you'll have to go up and down. There are tables and chairs outside your room, if you wanted, you could have brought it inside and then brought it back out when you needed it. I don't think it's worth putting a table and chairs in the room. As for the toilets, it seems impossible, as they're on the opposite side of the room wall. Best regards, Rita.

☺Emplacement en retrait, accessible le soir par navette entre 19h et 23h gratuitement. Piscine et terrasse entouré d'oliviers, nous avons aimé être au coeur du village et nous promener dans ses petites rues étroites. Nous avons été bien servi et avons eu de très bons petits déjeuner. Quaint little hotel nestled in the hillside of Varenna with spectacular views of the lake.
Our lovely host, Rita, couldn’t do enough for us and provided lots of valuable information. Because of hillside location she arranged taxis for us and if none were available she would drive us herself. Delicious continental breakfast included and an on site restaurant is available featuring local produce.

Authentic Italian Stay on Lake Como!
☺ Rita and her team are very kind, gracious and communicated quickly and efficiently over Whatsapp. She offers pick-up at the train station when you arrive before 7pm. There is a free night bus which also leaves from the Varenna train station after 7pm each night which services the hotel as well. The breakfast was incredible. The room was spacious.
☹ The path to Varenna can be difficult on your knees, particularly going down. My husband and I are fit and in our 30's and found the walk down more difficult than the walk up. I would not recommend this accommodation without a vehicle if you suffer from mobility issues.

Wonderful stay, made all the better by the staff, especially Rita! It was like staying at her home. So welcoming! Amazing views (it's way up the hill) and location. Huge, quiet, clean, comfortable room with lots of extra amenities like slippers, wine, toiletries, full breakfast, jacuzzi and pool on site. Bonus was the restaurant, very good.
