The perfect country retreat. Haystacks Country Retreat provides the perfect country stay. It’s so beautiful and Sasha and Jonny really are the best hosts. Communication from booking was brilliant and they gave a very warm welcome on arrival. The Morrell Bothy is beautiful and Sasha talked me through all its amenities while Jonny explained how to use the log fired hot tub in a way that even I could understand (they also send a short video in case you forget!). A breakfast hamper and a tray of snacks was very thoughtfully chosen; Sasha had picked some lovely vegetarian options including super fresh eggs that made a tasty omelette for my first morning. As a solo visitor, I felt very comfortable and absolutely safe while there. The outside space is really well curated. When the weather - finally - allowed, the tub definitely delivered with a sunset soak. The accommodation includes routes for walks and the next village has a fab coffee shop and cafe which serves really great food with excellent service (thanks Sophie’s). Back on site, the alpacas came for a little chat and the highland coos obliged for their photo opportunity. Additionally, the shower is great, the kitchen has all you need and the bed is super comfy! I had two great sleeps. I also managed a couple of decent 90 minute meditations and I now can’t wait to come back in the spring or summer to enjoy better weather and later sunsets. Thank you so much. Please can I come again soon?

Amazeballs! What can I say? This was the perfect place for my husband's 60th birthday! It offered peace, quiet, and total privacy. The facilities are fabulous—clean and well-equipped. The hosts are incredible, ensuring everything goes just the way you want it. If you're looking to escape the ordinary, this is the place to be. Plus, there's a no-kids policy! We will definitely be back. Thank you for an amazing stay; we loved every moment!

Amazing We have just returned from an incredible 2 nights stay in the Morehouse Bothy. Everything about this place is second to none. The location, views, accommodation, and extra touches, like the welcome hamper with fresh produce and snacks. Impeccably clean, cosy, and comfortable. Everything detail had been considered and thoughtfully undertaken. We met and fed the beautiful alpacas, as well as being lucky enough to stroke Ziggy and Mars, the resident Highland cows, on a leisurely stroll through the owners field to a fab local pub. Soaking in the tub, watching sheep feed, and rabbits play, whilst enjoying a cold glass of fizz, will remain with me for a very long time.

An absolute hidden gem in a blissful location! You must book this place! I was treated to a surprise weekend at Haystacks by my other half, not a clue where I was going! I don’t even know where to begin to say how utterly fantastic this place is. Jonny and Sasha are awesome! Lovely hosts, explained everything about “Samuel” and all it offered and how to use everything. Told us about walks to go on and were on hand if we needed them - although we didn’t as they have literally thought of EVERYTHING when it comes to making your retreat perfect. The hut had whatever you needed, and then some more! I The welcome trug on the table was a wonderful treat, as was the fresh milk, juice, bacon and eggs in the fridge to start your break off with ease! I kid you not, I couldn’t think of anything that they had missed. The setting is bliss, the location generally is beautiful. Plenty of fresh air and R&R. We found a nice walk down the river to Hampsthwaite and would recommend this to visit the joiners arms or Sophie’s coffee shop which were both brilliant! The bed is super comfy, shower is wonderful and the outdoor bath is divine (but do follow Jonnys advise of 55 mins to heat it up and don’t add too much wood once it’s at temp otherwise you’ll end up like a boiled potato!), pizza oven is a great treat too and the pizzas your can buy from them are really tasty! We have already started to look to book to return, and honestly will be every year now! Thank you for a fantastic time! X

Wonderful stay. We stayed in the Moorhouse Bothy and it is perfect, there is everything you may need. Blankets and outside quilt for those chilly evenings. Slippers and dressing gowns provided. The little touches go a long way. Breakfast for one morning, milk, orange juice, butter and a welcome basket. The Hikki bath tub is amazing. This place is totally relaxing, try it you won t be disappointed. We will definitely be returning.

Perfect! What an absolutely stunning place to stay. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. The house is perfect and has everything anyone could want. Sasha was there to greet us and also helped us when we got lost out in our walk. A stunning, picture postcard village and the people are so friendly and welcoming. What a perfect way for 4 best mates to spend the weekend together. We will be back! Thank you.

Somewhere just a little bit special… The first thing you notice when you arrive at these fantastic Shepherds Huts is the real sense of peace and quiet as they are hidden out of sight behind a small wood. The views to the front of the huts is the stunning Yorkshire countryside and the river winding its way in front of you. Our hosts Sasha and Jonny could not have been kinder and more accommodating. They explained how everything worked inside the hut and how to get the wood burner lit for the outside double ended bath! The huts come with just about everything you need but importantly for us no TV! It felt like we had left the hustle and bustle behind and when we sank into the lovely hot water of the bath it was genuine bliss watching rabbits scamper across our view. I am on the tall side but still managed a comfortable nights sleep in the double pull down bed especially as the mattress was really comfy. The local pub the Station helped by serving good food and a pint or two… Tasty treats were left in the hut for us on arrival especially the Bakewell Tart and some Gin and Tonics. We left after a couple of nights feeling relaxed and refreshed, whilst looking forward to visiting again. A gem of a find! Thank you.

Martha - October 23 Just returned from a 2 night stay in Martha …. Where do we start ….. Wow!!!!! We were met by Sasha and Jonny who showed us how to use/where everything was both inside and outside the hut. Both really lovely genuine people with a passion for Haystacks . Pizzas in the fridge, carrots to feed the alpacas, bacon/eggs/bread/orange juice/milk, welcome beers and a hamper FULL of gorgeous local goodies. Every little detail has been thought of. The outdoor wood fired bath was amazing!!! And the pizzas cooked in the outdoor pizza oven were just perfect! We also enjoyed a game of the ‘Harrogate’ monopoly with the log burner roaring. The hut and surroundings were spotless, private and the bed/bedding was super comfy. We will 100% be returning and recommending. Just what we needed, a break away from everything in a stunning location and beautiful hut. The most perfect wholesome weekend away at Haystacks. We honestly don’t have a single negative comment. Thank You!!!! Amazing hosts … Amazing hut … Amazing location!!!

Awesome time away in stunning Farm House The farm house is absolutely stunning! It had absolutely everything you could think of and was furnished to such a high quality. We loved the hot tub and spent our evenings in it after beautiful walks during the day! Jonny and Sasha were so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble when organising our stay to celebrate a birthday. Thank you so much - we can’t wait to bring parents with us next year. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a great stay, in a peaceful place, with wonderful hosts and 3 cute alpacas on your doorstep!

Family visit to a amazing cottage The pictures didn't do the cottage justice, what an absolute gem , no expense has been spared on this breath taking cottage. Ideally placed for beautiful walks, peaceful , gorgeous location. Local amenities in walking distance ,great pub down the track or over the fields. Alpacas and Highland cows had great characters. The river and views were outstanding. Jonny & Sasha were amazing, friendly and a wealth of knowledge for the area. Just can't recommend this cottage enough. We will be visiting again. Fantastic Stay The hosts Sasha and Jonny were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in one of the Sheppards Huts (Martha) which was fantastic, we got a welcome hamper full of quality ingredients which also included our favourite tipple (red wine) we also received Bag of goodies for our dog these were a very nice touch. The hut itself was really cosy and fully equipped out with everything you needed. We loved the outdoor bath and spent the evenings sat in it with a drink. A nice local pub was a short walk away which the food was lovely. Would recommend Haystacks Country Retreat to anyone. We will definitely be returning soon.

Farmhouse stay We've recently returned from our second stay with Haystacks Country Retreats at the superb Nidd Farm House. Following our first stay I didn't think anything could have been improved upon. The farm house was as stunning as the first stay but Jonny and Sasha have really enhanced the outdoor space with a pizza oven, gas and coal bbq's, large outdoor seating area and a decked area around the hot tub. We had an amazing stay and would highly recommend Haystacks.

Amazing stay - would definitely recommend We visited Haystacks at the beginning of January and stayed in one of the shepherds huts. The stay was absolutely fantastic, Sasha and Johnny had thought of everything and couldn't do enough to help. The hut is compact but super cosy and has everything you need. Everything was spotlessly clean. Lots of little things like toilet rolls, bin bag, dish soap, cloth and tea towel included which aren't always at lots of places but really useful. As well as lots of little extras like bedding made up, towels, drinks in the fridge, salt, pepper and olive oil. Lots of local products and produce used which is always nice. Great views the hut was lovely and cosy with the option of a radiator or log fire. Would definitely recommend and go back. Dog friendly is also a huge bonus for us. Thank you so much for everything
