We stopped in on a whim, were able to get a table right away. We decided to do the tasting menu with our 6 year old in tow. The atmosphere was busy but enjoyable. The service team was attentive yet almost invisible. Our captain (can't remembers his name, but he deserves praise!Taller, glasses, hand tattoos) was very engaged, reading the table situation and was overly accommodating to our 6-year-old, recognizing if she was having a good time, so were we. They kitchen was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond for her. She had ate at a one star (One White Street) the night before and we were skeptical to try again bc the service there was such a miss, but boy did Gramercy prove them wrong.
You made our visit so incredibly enjoyable, and every bite (even hers) was a hit. Not a bad thing to say about any plating or bite we have had. The one star makes so much sense and honestly, we have ate at enough Michelin restaurants to say that one star is not enough. Best of luck, we are so looking forward to visiting again. Be sure to stock up on olives; )
We had the pleasure of eating lunch here the other day. Caleb was our server, and he went above and beyond to make my birthday lunch special. From suggesting dishes that were delicious, having a friendly banter, and bringing a surprise dessert; he made the afternoon so special. I’d highly recommend eating at Gramercy Tavern.
Thank you for an extraordinary Christmas lunch at our favourite go-to NYC restaurant. Everything was perfect - the food, the ambiance, the service. Special thanks to our server, Nicole, who made the experience so splendid for us. This was a trip to celebrate the end of chemo treatments for my husband and we are so grateful for this wonderful time.
I have dined at many Michelin restaurants around the world, and this was easily the most disappointing experience I have ever had at that level.
We were seated about 20 minutes past our reservation with no offer of drinks while we waited. Once seated, I was given an outdated drink menu, while the rest of my party received updated versions. For a dining room of this caliber, that kind of lack of attention to detail is hard to excuse.
The meal started on a positive note. The opening courses were creative and enjoyable. The cheese selection was excellent, and the ham biscuit add on was absolutely outstanding and one of the highlights of the evening. The gnocchi was also very nice.
Unfortunately, the main protein courses were a sharp decline. The skate was completely unseasoned, and the roe had an unpleasant, plastic-like texture — BAD BAD BAD. I did not finish the dish. The pork loin was overcooked, tough, and under seasoned, and again I did not finish it. BAD.
The most shocking moment of the night came from the bar. Someone in our party ordered an Old Fashioned that arrived with visible dirt or debris in the drink, and the glass itself was extremely sticky to the touch. I was so surprised that I checked the glass myself. This should never happen at any restaurant, let alone one with a Michelin star.
By the end of the evening, all four of us agreed this was the worst Michelin-starred dining experience we have ever had.
If you are considering Gramercy Tavern, skip the dining room and go to the tavern side instead. The burger is excellent. The dining room, however, does not come close to justifying its reputation or its price.
Came for my dad’s bday (first time in NYC) and the tasting menu did not disappoint! (Dec 2025)
Light was terrible for photos but we had one of each and all the dishes were tasty. Bok choy may have been the only one I’d skip going back through, gnocchi too.
The squid ink caramelle was our favorite overall, and the hiramasa and skate were also top tier.
Wine was nice (pricey, but enjoyable), and Mary Beth was stellar on the service.
The food was beyond exceptional, and the service was excellent! I believe our server was named Diana, she took great care of us and had really amazing recommendations from the menu. A friend recommended the restaurant to me when I was planning this trip, and now I will be recommending Gramercy Tavern to anyone I know coming to visit NYC
