Brendan has been enormously helpful training our dog Huckleberry and most importantly us. Brendan has empowered us with the knowledge and skill (through practice with his guidance) to properly comunicate with our dog and get the behavior we desire from him. We used Brendan at Hazard K9 for board and train with our two French Bulldogs, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. After our first baby was born, our dogs had a really difficult time adjusting to the new addition. For the first year, we kept the dogs and our baby separated because we wanted to make sure everyone was safe and comfortable. As our little one got older, we knew we needed to take the next step to create a safe environment for our entire family, so we decided to work with Hazard K9.
Although the six-week program felt like a long time, it was absolutely worth it. We are now able to have our dogs and toddler coexist safely, and, even better, our dogs have become 100% comfortable around our little one. It has given us so much more peace of mind as a family. We also now have someone we trust to care for our dogs when we travel, which is an added bonus we didn’t fully appreciate going into the program.
The cost is definitely an investment, but for us, the results and peace of mind have made it completely worth it. We highly recommend Brendan and Hazard K9 to anyone looking for professional dog training, especially families navigating the transition to life with a new baby.
Brendan has honestly been such a great trainer and I interviewed so many in town for my very reactive puppy Malinois, Kilo! We started with loose leash walking and have moved into bite work and scent work that Kilo is SO fulfilled by, even getting us out hiking, and I know soon we'll be able to go off leash too.
He listens to your goals and works with you for the dog you actually have, not just a generic plan. He breaks everything down so training has been fun instead of frustrating.
Kilo gets so excited when I tell her we're heading to Hazard for training lol. Brendan has also helped us get past her just straight up fighting me over putting her collar on and barking and lunging at every person or dog she sees.
We still have a way to go with her reactivity and getting to off leash, but we are leaps and bounds ahead of where I ever thought we'd be with Kilo's confidence... and honestly mine too. Can't recommend him enough!!!!
We have had Brendan as our trainer for about 4 years. He has trained and boarded both of our Alaskan Malamutes, and mostly us as owners on how to manage, treat, and care for them. Something most take for granted and they usually get it wrong. He is very patient, observant, and forthcoming with corrections and compliments. He is very flexible with his availability and works with your schedule as much as he can. Without his training our experience with the dogs would have been less enjoyable and more frustrating. We very much appreciate his willingness to work with us.

My boyfriend and I met Brendan two years ago when we reached out (a little desperately) for training help with our one year old malinois Marko. After our first lesson we knew our lives and Markos life were changed for the better.

Back in January I brought home my new working line GSD puppy. He has a lot of drive and I started noticing around the 4-5 month mark he was becoming a bit more reactive to other dogs than I liked. I got in touch with Brendan and he invited us to join the weekly pack walks with his training group. These have been incredibly helpful to my puppy and I also very much Brendan’s guidance on getting better at noticing triggers and my puppy’s body language. The pack walk group is made up of a very nice group and well mannered dogs which helped my puppy tremendously. He’s made significant improvement and I can now easily walk him in a busy public setting with virtually no reaction or barking.
Brendan is very professional yet down to earth and has a calm demeanor that I very much appreciate. He’s easy to talk to and I now plan to continue my puppy’s training with him ongoing. If you need help with your dog I highly recommend him and also consider the board and train options as well.

Brenden is our dog savior whose direct approach has been a 180 for our sweet pup. Our pup needed behavior modification as he had leash reactivity and exhibited some aggressive behavior towards other dogs and people. It was actually embarassing to walk him sometimes. He's now a pleasure to walk and trusting of other dogs and people. Brenden's training and exposure has taught him to really get along in the world!!!
I started training my pups with Brandon from Hazard K9 and I am very pleased with the results. It’s not easy to find a trainer that clearly loves his work and is knowledgeable in the art of training. We can’t say enough good things about our experience with Brendan. We did a 2-week board and train, and the transformation was incredible. Not only did our dog come home with solid obedience and confidence, but we were also given the tools and education to keep building on that progress at home.
Since then, we regularly attend group classes, which have been amazing for reinforcing skills and working around distractions. Our dog Yuki had interactions with other dogs that was not positive. After these interactions she was very aggressive towards other dogs. We did not know how to correct her behavior and were very frustrated. I found Brendan online and had him come to our home to have him access Yuki. She took to Brendan immediately.
After the evaluation we decided to go with the 8 week program. After the program Yuki was able to be around other dogs without showing aggressive behavior. Brendan works with you and your dog to help with the skills you need to handle whatever behavior your dog needs to be corrected.

I've been training with Brendan 1-on-1 for about a year now. He's extremely patient, listens to all my requests and feedback, and most importantly my Doberman loves him.
I always recommend Hazard K9 to my friends who have working breeds or dogs who have presented challenges to their owners. I love that I can be as involved with the training as I want vs just handing my dog off to someone. The bonding I get with my dog through training sessions is super important to me.
Brendan is great with everyday pet dog stuff but is also knowledgeable in training for protection sports and other obedience sports which is basically like a unicorn dog trainer. Other trainers I've worked with took us through the basics then hit a wall with "what next" which was frustrating for me as an owner of a working breed who NEEDS more than that.

Brendan! What a trainer! We were first time dog parents and were confused in so many things. All free info on Google confused us even further. Trying to get our new Aussidoodle pup, Sky, to find a way into the family was becoming a task in itself. In comes Brendan, and his training helped the pup and us in equal portions.. we got consistency in handling our pup.. and our pup became a part of our family. Sky’s over excitement, extra arousal, high energy was all brought in control in a loving way that helped us and Sky. Thanks so much Brendan! And not to miss mentioning that his boarding facility is a no brainer for us. Sky is in safe, loving hands when we go out of town for a trip (when we cannot take him with us).. and we enjoy our vacation peacefully knowing Sky is well taken care of. Incredible impact! Our 18 mo old Malinois/Akita mix is strong, smart, and stubborn. We needed some help correcting some behaviors and training better responses. Through 1:1 sessions and a 2 wk boarding session Brendan helped us and our dog learn the correct behaviors and responses. He trained our dog but just as important he helped us look for his triggers and act appropriately ourselves so we didn’t reinforce behavior we didn’t want. Both his leash walking and recall improved significantly and we have a great foundation to build on.
