Beautiful place, beautiful staff, beautiful care. The only place I would trust to look after my horses. Natural, healthy herd environment and calm yard. My horses are so happy here. Every member of staff treats all the horses in their care as if they were their own - with genuine love, respect and expertise. Cannot recommend it highly enough! Thank you everyone at Freshfields for the love and peace of mind you bring!
My deeply loved horse is having some extended R&R time at Freshfields while he (hopefully) recovers from a soft tissue injury in his hoof. He is relaxed and seems happy there, and I'm hugely grateful for the regular video updates I get from Sally and the team. It's obvious they know what they're doing, and really care about the horses in their care. I'm really grateful for not having to worry about how he's doing.

I'm so glad I decided to retire my horse at freshfields! I've had him 15 years and it was a tough decision to leave him with anyone else. But Sally and Lauren are both so knowledgeable and caring, I know I've made the right decision. The yard and fields are stunning, I always feel welcome when I go to visit and they send regular updates. Everything is taken care of without fuss. It's so nice to see my boy happy out with his friends and know he's being well looked after
Rodney has spent the last 18 months living at Freshfields as he can no longer be ridden because of arthritis in his back legs. He is treated like a prince and given care and attention and, even more importantly, love. Sally, Lauren and the team care for their charges as though they were their own and nothing is too much trouble. I visit whenever I want - no need to make an appointment - and in between I receive photos and videos and reports. I am delighted with everything about Freshfields and would highly recommend them.
I cannot believe how happy and settled my horse is. From the moment he arrived at Freshfields he made himself at home. The owner Sally Hamilton French is a wonder lady and she and the staff are very knowledgeable. I like to see my horse every week because I miss the contact, but if I could not go I would not have a moments worry as to the way he is being looked after.

I highly recommend Freshfields. My eldest horse Alpha has been there now for a month and the difference in her is remarkable. She has gained weight, made a new best friend and is clearly very happy. Sally and Lauren are lovely and care for the horses like they are their own. I was very nervous about moving Alpha somewhere new at her age (27) and trusting her care to someone other than me but I need not have worried. I feel lucky to have found Freshfields and I know Alpha is going to love every minute of her retirement in such a haven of peace and tranquility.
I cannot recommend Fresh Fields highly enough!!! The moment Snip arrived he seemed relaxed and happy. All the horses at Fresh Fields are calm, happy and at one with the world. Sally and Lauren made both of us feel so welcome. It is quite evident that the yard is run extremely well with care and consideration for the horses welfare at the top of the list. Thank you both, I can now relax knowing that Snip is in very good hands.

Raffles has lived at Freshfields since December 2017 after being moved from another retirement home that didn’t deliver the service that was paid for and Raffles became very withdrawn. I was understandably eager to find him a forever home from home.
He settled in really quickly and his eyes showed me he was happy straight way. Sally & Lauren are kind and genuinely gentle with the horses and this shows. Sally also retains staff in an industry where staff turnover is high. She values her staff. Lauren, who’s been there since before Raffles arrived is his surrogate mummy giving him love and affection every day when he’s checked over.
We live only 20 minutes from the yard and Sally & Lauren are always happy for me to ‘pop in’ unannounced. I also get WhatsApp messages with photos or videos of my fur baby with updates.
The livery package has always been flexible, meeting the needs of the horse. It now suits Raffles to live out in a herd on acres and acres of land and come in for respite in the colder months. As a result of keeping mobile his arthritis is manageable. The stable block is always spotlessly clean with lovely beds and premium quality hay. Raffles, who lives for food, loves the big haynets and, now living out, the unlimited big hay bales in the pasture during the colder months. In summer there is always plenty of grass for those that need it.
In summer months they apply sunscreen and flyspray and are happy to put fly masks on. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
I have no hesitation in recommending Freshfields.
My homebred pony Amber has been at Freshfields for a few years now. Sally and the team genuinely care about her health and wellbeing and do all they can to make sure she is happy and healthy. I get regular updates and photos, which is very reassuring as an owner. Care is individualised too. I'd thoroughly recommend Freshfields to anyone thinking of handing over the reins. Thank you to the team for your care and expertise!
My elder horse spent the last 12 years of his life in contented leisure at Freshfields Equine Retirement Home. He was so well looked after I couldn't have been happier.
I have total confidence in the caring expertise available, so much so that my younger horse has now retired here and is completely happy to be spending the days in the spacious fields with his friends.
