I don’t usually take the time to write reviews, but after my experience with Fresh Layer Mobile Detailing, it’s well deserved.
From the start, the booking process was straightforward and convenient. I had a couple of questions and they were actually addressed, which already gave me a good first impression. Communication leading up to the appointment was clear, with reminders so I knew exactly when to expect them.
The technician showed up on time, ready to work, and was professional from the moment he arrived. The setup looked organized and you could tell they take their work seriously. Before starting, everything was explained clearly, including what could realistically be improved and what might not come out completely, which I appreciated.
My vehicle needed a lot of attention, especially the interior. Years of use, dust, and buildup had taken over, but they went through everything thoroughly. Seats, carpets, and all the small crevices most people overlook were properly cleaned. The difference was noticeable right away.
What stood out most was the effort. This wasn’t a rushed job. They took their time and focused on the details, and it showed in the final result. The interior looked refreshed, and the overall finish made the car feel much newer.
At the end, everything was walked through with me, and I was given clear recommendations on how to maintain the results moving forward. The entire process felt professional, organized, and worth it.
There are a lot of detailing options out there, but based on this experience, Fresh Layer is one I’d confidently use again and recommend to others.
Even though “Jose,” my detailer, did a standard job on my VW yesterday I can not recommend this company for your detailing needs. There are too many other choices in San Diego County and this one needs to be avoided.
It all starts with first impressions as a new customer. Even though the online booking time was convenient, the manager, “Alex”, clearly does not care about your business. There is a “comments” box in the online booking process that was completely ignored with my question. The detailer was late to my appointment. Time means money and they don’t care about wasting your time. The work vehicle was trashed when it showed up. Dents all over the place, door molding hanging outside the door. Invest some money and take all those dents out. It gives a bad look like they don’t care.
Before the work was started I was verbally told it would be an extra $45 for all of the work with some stubborn stains. Okay I understood, the car’s interior was quite dirty. After working four hours on the car, the stains are still there. None of the ones on the seats and the carpet floor were removed. He tried was his answer and then asked me how long have I had the car. How is that relevant for the work performed? It is none of their business. Training is an issue obviously.
On their website they claim “superior customer experience.” Not so much. “Real time updates” during the four hours did not happen once. “Follow up care with maintenance recommendations” was non existent. The recommendations given was to keep the windows down because it still was wet inside. They couldn’t dry the vehicle first? Yeah keep the windows down so all the dust flies in – so smart of them.
At the end of the appointment I requested an invoice for their work. No was their answer but if you pay by credit card and pay the 4%+ surcharge, we can do it for you. What? That makes no sense. Their other payment options are cash, Venmo or Zelle.
For a company that is detailer certified I am disappointed. Yes they are certified – certified waste of time. Take your business elsewhere.

We were impressed and definitely will use them again! Bonus to have them come to our house versus us having to drop the car off somewhere and wait. They were quick, lots of reminders of the upcoming appointment. Just not thrilled with the sign up process and setting up multiple services at once, it was confusing. But GREAT service!

Steve with Fresh Layer Mobile was fantastic. He took his time, was extremely thoughtful, detailed, and just a professional. He made my interior look brand new with the interior detail package. I also had some scuffs and discoloration on my inner door panel that he made new using an SEM coat as well. Had a great experience with Fresh Layer Mobile Detailing here in San Diego. Booked a complete detail and the results were perfect. The car looked clean inside and out, and you could tell they really took their time instead of rushing through it. Super convenient having them come to my location, and the whole process was easy from start to finish. Definitely one of the better detailing experiences I've had and I'll be using them again.
Fresh Layer did amazing job on our family car in PB, we have ton of kid use and sand inside the car, after detail they left our car spotless. Hard work, decent prices, defiantly will use them again
