Oaxaca Free Walking Tour Reviews

Went on the free Oaxaca walking tour led by Raul. Raul was a brilliant guide, his energy was the perfect level for the group and he shared so much knowledge about Oaxaca and its history. He shared a lot of great recommendations for food, drink and shopping and took us to the north side of Oaxaca which we probably wouldn't have gone to. Highly recommend this walking tour for any visitors of Oaxaca!

I decided to take this tour on a whim after arriving at 11 pm the day before. For those without a lot of time in Oaxaca like me, I really enjoyed having this be my first day activity in order to inform how I prioritised where I wanted to visit. Raul was an amazing tour guide that is obviously passionate about Oaxaca. I felt it was a good mix of history and culture, not just about Oaxaca, but other areas as well.

I'm only in Oaxaca for one full day so I booked this tour to quickly get my bearings, and I'm so glad I did! I was the only guest but Gesenia was so kind to give me the full tour anyway when she found out it was my only opportunity. Gesenia was absolutely great, friendly and knowledgable. Would highly recommend this tour!

A guided walking tour is a great way to spend your first day in Oaxaca. Our guide, Raul, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the local history and culture. The tour lasted a little over two hours, winding through the city center and stopping at key historical points of interest. Raul did an excellent job bringing the background of each site to life. We wrapped up the tour at a vibrant local market with delicious tamales for lunch. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and Raul was an incredibly insightful guide.

This was an excellent introduction to Oaxaca. Raul (sorry if I spelt this incorrectly!) was an excellent tour guide. Incredibly informative and what a delightful sense of humour. He was patient as we took photos and guided us to some memorable spots around the city. We finished at a food market that had a fantastic range of local delicacies.

My wife and I took a walking tour with Miguel which turned out to be a private tour since we were the only two there that day. Miguel was kind, passionate and very knowledgeable about the history of Mexico and Oaxaca. He took us to several cultural and art focused destinations. We had a great time walking around the town and we now feel more confident to explore the town on our own now that we have more insight and context about Oaxaca. We definitely recommend taking a walking tour specifically with Miguel!

We really enjoyed the tour. Sofía was an excellent guide. She was friendly, knowledgable, and answered everyone’s questions. She was also flexible and open when the group wanted to spend additional time at a stop or pause to observe something curious or interesting. The tour was a great introduction to the city, complete with recommendations and safety tips. Highly recommend!
