We booked a consultation with Alfie to talk us through the possibilities of home redesign for family living. During the session Alfie covered many topics: what’s important to us as a family, need and usage of spaces, current issues etc. He shared ideas of how to rearrange our spaces both upstairs and downstairs, including what is and is not likely to add value to the property, what works for family life, general guidance on planning permissions, renovation processes, rough cost estimate, timeframes, how to break down a full house renovation into smaller projects. Alfie even took a look in our loft to give an idea of whether a conversion is possible or even worth it. We really appreciated his honesty throughout. I would definitely recommend this service - you don’t necessarily need to know exactly what you want. If you want to know the possibilities for redesigning your home in the future, there is so much value in a session like this.
We’ve been working with Alfie from Folly Architects after a recommendation from a friend and neighbour. I have been thoroughly enjoying working with Alfie since engaging him to work on and seek appropriate approval for my major house extension projects for a loft room; large rear extension creating a new kitchen, bathroom, and additional lounge and utility areas; and a large outbuilding.
He is very knowledgeable and deploys his expertise wisely. Even more importantly, he encourages direct feedback and then takes my feedback and wishes very seriously and carefully, and revises things so I can get exactly what I want. This is not easy as my demands are very precise but he takes them all on board and adapts and amends accordingly and with good grace. He has a great eye for the kinds of details that could really make a project work.
He uses a secure portal to produce drawing drafts for feedback, and I find this a very easy and comfortable way of working.
Crucially, he is also easy to get on with, personable and friendly, and a good ‘absorber’ or listener, which is really important when doing this kind of work which is both detailed and personal.
In short, I’d have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him for projects large or small.

Currently we are using Folly Architects to do a feasibility study to do a home improvement project for my really elderly aunt and uncle. It is an ongoing project that we envisage finishing by the end of 2025. However, till now Alfie's work has been absolutely top notch. He dealt with the elderly clients with respect and listened to their desires, may I add, with a lot of patience that I may lacked at times. The feasibility study itself is a complicated process and he is guiding us throughout it, including helping us to approaching the neighbours to explain it, given the elderly uncle might not be able to explain it correctly. Based on Alfie's current level of commitment, we will highly recommend him for house improvement projects.
