FIXTD Did NOT have my car's engine!
We have a 2017 Ford Expedition EL XLT 4X4. I followed the installation instructions and entered my vehicle's identification number (VIN).When I did enter my VIN, the program said my VERY LARGE, VERY HEAVY 4X4 had a 2.4 liter, four cylinder engine! Nope, nada. It has a 3.5 liter V6 Ecoboost engine (standard equipment). So I attempted to change engine options. THERE WERE NO OTHER OPTIONS.Inspite of this, I decided to let the program run. There were specific codes I was expecting to see. They were not there. In fact, there we no codes at all; only very brief, imprecise descriptions of a only one of the four expected codes (based on a professional OBD2 reader belonging to my brother). Now, perhaps that is an advantage for some novice DYI mechanics, EXCEPT that you have to pay FIXD $99/yr for the premium version to get any, marginally useful information. If FIXD cannot even get the correct engine right, if it cannot report the same (known) trouble codes as a professional quality OBD2 scanmer, how can I trust FIXD to give me accurate information? For these reasons, I am returning FIXD to Amazon and will use the $40 to apply towards a REAL OBD2 Reader.
Already paid for itself!
The app is easy to use, the product connects as it should. But it does exactly what it says and more. I bought bc I’m in the process of buying a first car for my teenager and want to make sure we are getting a vehicle that won’t break the bank. The live data is great and helps weed out suspicious or scammy sellers. The first vehicle we used it on saved us from buying a vehicle with no CEL on dash but when plugged in, showed multiple transmission codes! Buy it. You won’t regret it.
I feel that I was scammed!
I was excited to receive my FIXD Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner. I wanted to try out all of the cool features that were advertised. But as soon as I set up the software on my phone, my excitement instantly deflated. I was immediately prompted to buy and subscribe to additional software to load to my phone just to use some of the features advertised! The base software you download for free is VERY limited. RIP OFF!! Plus the manufacturer was nice enough to mold the scanner out of extremely smooth plastic with no edges to allow you to grip the scanner and pull it back out of the diagnostic port under the car's dash! STUPID!!!
Saved me $1000 or more
My car was “missing” bad, I feared the worst. But I plugged in my Fixd reader and it told me “misfire on cylinder 2”, probable cause 1st: spark plug 2nd: ignition coil. I order full set of both from Amazon with my car identification to replace all 6 and my car purrs like a kitten. I know that being a female senior citizen that I would have been quoted WAY more than it cost me and would probably have been told there was more wrong than there was. I grew up in a family of 4 brothers, no sisters with my dad owning an auto body shop which he often shared space and tools with auto mechanic buddies. I spent a lot of time there and picked up a lot of knowledge but You Tube videos are the best to walk you through the process. This thing is a must have to at least educate you from being scammed by dishonest mechanics.
Pushes for a premium subscription for 99+ dollars
Always pushing for a premium subscription for 99+ dollars. This was NOT in the description prior to buying the unit. Tried once. Didnt even pick up my tire pressure sensor being out. Only gave a minute amout of info that was unknown. Only history it gives you is what you have entered after using it.
