The man that came to my house was very nice but he was 100% sure not a doubt in his mind very adamant that my furnace was overheating that my ductwork was too small and needed completely replaced for 6k. I had another company come out to check and my exhaust pipes were FULL of chimney pieces from having my chimney worked on. The other company shop vacced them out and charged me $250. Furnace is fixed since then.
Edit : sorry about the price stated being incorrect I remember him telling me without your membership it would be 5 and with it it would be 6 but when I looked back at the paper quote it was $4,199 and then $1,065 off if I sign up for your membership my apologies on the mistake!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and I’m glad to hear your furnace is operating again.
You are correct that your system was overheating, and our technician determined this using temperature readings along with measurements of the ductwork compared to the furnace manufacturer’s design specifications. Each duct was measured to calculate the airflow capacity, and based on those measurements, the system’s return and supply ductwork was determined to be undersized for the equipment. Undersized ductwork is a common cause of overheating because it restricts airflow and prevents the furnace from operating within its designed temperature range.
It is absolutely possible that debris in the exhaust pipe contributed to the overheating as well. Removing that blockage may have reduced the temperature enough for the furnace to run again, and we’re glad another company was able to address that quickly. We do want to be transparent that even when a system begins operating again after a blockage is removed, undersized ductwork can still cause the furnace to run hotter than intended, which may lead to more frequent breakdowns or a shorter equipment lifespan over time.
We also want to clarify the pricing mentioned. Our written quote for the duct modifications was $3,278, not $6,000. That work included enlarging the return duct and reconnecting several existing supply runs to improve airflow and reduce overheating risk.
Finally, we apologize that the flue pipe was not disassembled during that visit. Once a significant overheating condition was confirmed, our technician focused on identifying and correcting the airflow issue. If debris in the flue had been identified as an additional issue during our repairs, we would have addressed that at no additional charge.
We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and the feedback you provided. If you ever have concerns about system performance or would like us to re-check airflow or temperatures in the future, we would be happy to help.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we’re glad your home is comfortable.

Gabe was awesome! Honest and straight forward guy and did thorough troubleshooting on my system. If Gabe is a representation of Family, they seems to have the genuine care for the customers which is refreshing. I asked them for a second opinion and they did not charge for the visit either.
