Me and my group had an extremely unpleasant experience with this company. We booked the boat for an 11pm-7pm trip. Only for the next day to get a phone call saying we couldn’t have that time. We rearranged a date so we could do that time and the owner then made another excuse saying they didn’t do that time on the day. We were slightly confused by this as on there website it says they do. He then started questioning us on why we wanted the boat. (We are a mixed group of young and older adults) giving it was one of our younger group members trying to arrange our outing he then started getting extremely defensive about us having the boat (he seemed to be under the impression that Because there was young people on board we would be drinking and partying which isn’t true) one of our older group members then spoke to the chap on the phone and was met with an extremely angry man who said basically because we had young people in our group we couldn’t have the boat. (Strange giving other company’s didn’t have any problem with this what so ever). Over all if he doesn’t want young people on board he should state that on his website so no one is wasting there time. I would recommend going elsewhere to someone more trust worthy and professional.

Another great day on the canal in spite of some 'British' weather. Steve explained the boat bits clearly and offered good advice about dealing with the fair amount of green weed, thereby saving us having to do gymnastics to get at the weedhatch. Good views down past Haigh Hall and plenty of wildlife such as swans and cygnets, cormorants, heron, kingfisher and even a couple of er, very 'big mice' on the banking! Always found it one of the best family days out going. As ever good straightforward service from Ellerbeck.

Had another wonderful day out on the canal. A superb way to spend a summer day enjoying the local area from a different vantage point. Boats immaculate, well equipped and Steve knows everything.

Bought a day on a narrowboat for my hubby for Christmas... What an amazing day we had. We took along the grandchildren and 2 Yr old great granddaughter, who now thinks her Pops owns a boat!!! Lucien was brilliant, great guy with a fabulous sense of humour. He gave us a safety talk and steering lesson etc. We will definitely be visiting again, as soon as health allows..... I can very highly recommend Ellerbeck Narrowboat to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing day on the water.

Our Son and Daughter in Law hired a barge for a gift for us and other family members. We really enjoyed our day very much despite the drizzly rain. We got very good training before the voyage and it made for a simple, easy sail. Everyone, from our 93 year old Gran to a one year old and the dog had fun. The distance and trip to the pub is just right with interest to see on the way. Catering facilities on board are ample for the journey too. 😄👍🏻
