I had a wonderful time on this food tour with Laura. The tour was super engaging from start to finish and moved at a great pace with lots of stops for the most delicious foods (come hungry!!). Laura was really sweet and knowledgeable, and she went out of her way to help me pick out food gifts from the market to bring back to my family, which I really appreciated. It made the experience feel personal and thoughtful. Highly recommend this tour.
A Great Way To Try Traditional Mexican Food!
We did this Eating With Carmen Food Tour on our first full day in Palya Del Carmen, and indeed our first ever day in Mexico, so we could explore the town and try some authentic food at the same time - so glad we did! There were six people in our group, plus Abbey, our lovely guide, and also Gabriel who was shadowing before becoming a guide in his own right. Both Abbey and Gabriel were so knowledgeable and passionate about the local food and eateries we visited, and they made it really interesting. We went to some out of the way, family owned, local style cafes and restaurants, and street food eateries, tried some really unusual local dishes and also explored a fruit market where we learned about some of the local fruits. Do not eat before going on this tour, as you will get a fair amount of food. Highly recommend as a great way to try traditional Mexican food and explore Playa Del Carmen a little more away from the usual tourist streets. Oh, and there's some great street art en route as well!
So much to see and taste. Wonderful tour.
Enrique and Gabriel made our tour a wonderful and friendly experience. Their knowledge of the food and culture of Playa Del Carmen and the Yucatan peninsula kept us engaged and entertained plus it gave us a wonderful taste of not only the food but also a feel for the city. The food was amazing and we did nitely did not go hungry. Thank your gentlemen for making our family's day a special one. *****!
Fantastic food tour
Alex was a fantastic tour guide! He took us to all the hidden gems of playa del carmen while sharing facts and history about playa del carmen. We booked a vegan tour to accommodate a vegetarian and were pleased when adding cheese was an option at most stops. This was a real highlight of our tour and we had a great time hanging out with our guide. Thanks Alex!
Good introduction to Yucatan Cuisine
Signed up for a last-minute food tour on our first day in TUlum. We wanted to know some of the specialties so we could then decide what to eat later in the week. We had a couple good tacos, a tamale, an enchilada, some corn and some fresh juice, Plus and Ice Cream Bar. I enjoyed getting to know the town and some good local restaurants.
The vegan food tour with Abbey as our guide was absolutely fantastic! We visited so many surprising spots that I would never have found on my own and got to taste a wide variety of delicious dishes and drinks. Some flavors and dishes were new to me, while others were familiar but prepared in exciting ways. Abbey shared so much knowledge about the food and the places we visited, which made the experience even richer. I even went back to a few of the locations later because I enjoyed them so much during the tour!
I would highly recommend this tour in Playa del Carmen - it was truly one of the highlights of my trip to Mexico!
Great taste of playa del Carmen!
Abbey was a phenomenal tour guide. She did a great job of making the experience immersive but engaging to break up the stops. We tasted some phenomenal food, and she did a great job of incorporating the flavors we were interested in trying into the tour. We found some great spots that we’ll visit again. I’d highly recommend this tour but especially Abbey to anyone considering it!
In-depth look at local street food.
There were just two on the tour, and we got a variety of Mexican staples, all were very tasty and well explained by our guide. The locations varied from small shops to vendor stalls on the street. We gringos were very glad to have someone who knew the speciality of each location.
Authentic, Warm, and Fascinating – A taste of Merida
I had a wonderful experience on this Mérida authentic cuisine /walking tour led by Laura. She is an excellent host—warm, knowledgeable, and deeply passionate about the history and culture of Mérida and the Yucatán region. Her explanations brought the city to life in such an engaging way.The visit to the local mercado was a highlight. It was authentic and full of spontaneous moments that made the tour feel truly unique. I felt comfortable, safe, and welcomed the entire time, while still experiencing the sense of adventure that comes with discovering a new place through the eyes of a local. This tour was interesting, fun, and full of genuine connection. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Mérida beyond the surface. Thank you, Laura, for an unforgettable experience!
Super Tour! Go for exploring and for local cuisine!
Abbey was absolutely the best tour guide! We visited 4 places with so much food offered. Make sure to be hungry! Abbey discussed history, local information, described food, knew so many of the merchants and vendors. She is friendly, a good listener to us, and great conversationalist. She gave tips and advice. We loved the tour and walking around the back roads exploring, instead of only 5th Street. Abbey took photos of us and will share the link of all the photos. The ones I am sharing I took also. Great tour, go for exploring, as much as trying local food cuisine.
Amazing Tour with Armando
We had an excellent time on the food tour with Armando! He took us to places we never would have known to try and gave us great onsite to not only the food, but to Tulum and surrounding area as well. The food was delicious and Armando was a lot of fun to walk around with. It was a highlight of our trip.
Orientation to good food and interesting markets!
Lots of good food and interesting markets! Was a good orientation to common foods of the area, and our guide Marcos was lovely and enthusiastic. Still, would like to have heard more about how each dish /the market is integrated into daily life (eg. is this dish for breakfast? for celebrations? who goes to the market when? etc).
