Because you posted under a false name and this occurred more than 2 years ago, it took some time to identify the situation you’re describing. Ultimately, we recognized this as the only case in our clinic’s history where a surgical procedure was cancelled and a patient was formally discharged at the pre-op stage — a decision made with great care.

While we don’t know what brought it to the surface now, your account does not quite align with the detailed clinical notes made at the time.

There was a minor administrative error in one email, sent by the same staff member who had gone above and beyond on multiple previous occasions to support you. She extended your invoice deadline to accommodate a custom payment plan, promptly answered your messages and even arranged a phone call with you after 5 p.m. on a Friday to accommodate your schedule. You had previously thanked her for her responsiveness, yet your tone quickly shifted and your responses became harsh and verbally aggressive, even in response to automated reminders.

At your pre-op, where you now claim the doctor was scrolling his iPad, the only scrolling that occurred was on your phone as you showed Dr. Plant examples and expressed strong negative opinions about other surgeons’ work (including many cases that, from a professional standpoint, were excellent results). Your goals changed repeatedly during the conversation and you requested modifications to our usual techniques based on approaches from surgeons you had just criticized. Dr. Plant personally spent nearly two hours with you at this appointment trying to understand your expectations and explore solutions.

It became increasingly clear that no surgical result would leave you feeling satisfied, and proceeding under those circumstances would not have been ethical. Dr. Plant gently explained that he did not feel he could meet your expectations and that given your complaints about his staff this was probably not the right clinic for you. He issued a full refund of all of your fees on the spot. Your reaction was emotional and escalated quickly. You became combative, challenged the cancellation, and insisted that the surgery continue until he firmly but compassionately made it clear that no responsible surgeon could move forward under these conditions.

Once your identity was confirmed, it became apparent that similar reviews — posted under other aliases — describe being dismissed from at least two other clinics following conflict over staff expectations and office policies.

Finally, your claim that Dr. Plant is “dangerous” and has had reviews removed is simply untrue and potentially defamatory. Google does not allow businesses to delete reviews, nor does it remove them at a business’s request. The dozens of genuine five-star reviews on Google — and hundreds more across other reputable review sites — from patients who proudly used their real names describe a consistent and very different experience: a highly professional staff who go above and beyond and a surgeon who listens to patients in order to help them achieve their goals in a safe and ethical manner.

We understand that when someone feels compelled to post a review like this, years after the interaction and without ever having undergone surgery, it often points to something deeper going on. While we certainly don’t know what your experience has been in seeking your procedure over the past two years, we do understand that people express pain in complex ways, and lashing out at a medical professional is, unfortunately, one of them.
