I retained Jelena Kovacevic on a recommendation from a trusted advisor to represent me in a divorce. She was very attentive in the initial meetings and took an active interest in understanding one unusual nuance of the case. Jelena had a strong command of the relevant points of law and, also, a sound pragmatic grasp of the realities of court proceedings vs theory. She recommended always seeking a settlement rather than going through the expense and stress of a trial; but her strategy was to prepare the strongest case possible, simultaneously, in case trial was necessary. Her guidance was thoughtful and direct. When questioned on a point, she explained her rationale candidly and effectively. However, the final decisions were mine and she supported them fully, regardless. Moreover, apart from her impressive expertise, she was very pleasant to deal with, upbeat, cheerful, and at times even fun. She made an ugly business much less unpleasant to deal with. I will seek her out for any future family law needs I have.

I came to this firm with what should have been a very straightforward family law matter—one that had effectively resolved years ago over an afternoon in a café and about eight dollars in coffee—but had since been turned into a complete dumpster fire by a series of non-issues, fabricated concerns, and unnecessary hostility. The nightmare formally began on February 23, 2023 (though problems existed years earlier) and, unfortunately, continues to this day. After two default judgments and significant harm caused by prior counsel’s failure to act, I retained this firm to untangle and repair the damage that had been left behind. I only wish I had hired them sooner. My case involves a challenging mix of issues, including a past substance-abuse history, false allegations, multiple criminal charges, a protective order that does not comply with statutory requirements, and opposing counsel making inaccurate representations. Despite this complexity, this team has handled everything with professionalism, clarity, and focus. While no legal outcome can restore the time I’ve lost with my children, I finally feel confident that I have competent, prepared, and committed representation advocating on my behalf. Here’s to hoping 2026 is the year I’m finally able to meaningfully participate in my children’s lives.

I don’t even know where to begin. If I could give Angela Stout 10 stars, I truly would. After going through over five attorneys in the past 10 years, I had almost given up hope that I’d ever find someone who genuinely cared—not just about the case, but about me, my child, and the truth. Then I found Angela. I had to switch attorneys just three months before a final trial we had been waiting on for over a year and a half. I was terrified. But Angela didn’t just step in, she stepped up. She took the time to really learn every detail of our case, and somehow understood it better than anyone before her. She listened. She believed me. She believed in what was right, and she fought for it like it was her own family. This was a high-conflict case with serious false allegations made against me and my loved ones, and real danger coming from the other side. If you're looking for a law firm that won't return your phone calls or takes weeks to respond to emails, this is the firm for you. The consultation process was quick, and they were attentive only until they secured the retainer fee. After that, everything went downhill. Attorney Angela Stout constantly pressured me to settle outside of court, almost as if she was afraid to fight for me there. She also minimized the seriousness of my family violence situation and the threats I faced, showing a complete lack of empathy. If you have urgent matters or children involved, I strongly advise against using this law firm. I terminated representation from this attorney and new one was able to accomplish (in one month) what Angela and Stout Law Firm couldn’t do in over 3 months. I would have saved a lot of money going elsewhere from the beginning.

I can not recommend this firm after using them for my divorce this year. I never felt that the attorney took the time understand my needs or concerns, with our only truly substantive conversation where I felt like I was being seen as a person taking place during the down time of the mediation. However, I figured that I wasn't paying for being seen, but for quality representation. However, it's become clear now that there was a significant failure to fully safeguard my interests, something which has only recently become clear to me; and while I share ultimate responsibility for having missed the omission, I must also wonder what I was paying for if not for an experienced guide who was not emotionally invested and stressed who could help ensure nothing was missed.
