Van Soul 2025.12.05

     

The week with Ante Vidovic was one of the greatest experiences I had acquiring a new skill, which is how to command a sailing vessel safely. Ante was very patient with all our questions and mistakes and focused on hands on practice as much as possible. I felt we learned the all important skills, also from his experiences and mistakes in his long years career as a skipper. Even though we focused mostly on practical practice, with self-study in the evenings everyone who attended the exam for the B license passed! It was a lot of fun to train and relax with the other participants of which I consider as friends and hope to go out sailing again in some near future!

We visited the Croatia Sailing Academy with our university group and were warmly welcomed. The team was very friendly, professional, and answered all our questions. They showed us the facilities from the inside, and we even went sailing on a catamaran. Some of us had the chance to try steering the catamaran, which was a great experience. Overall, it was very interesting, educational, and fun, and we learned a lot of new things. Highly recommended!

⛵️Our faculty group spent the afternoon on two boats and truly enjoyed every part of it. There was a fun quiz with prizes, and some of us even got the chance to steer the boat ourselves. Even though the weather was cloudy, we made the most of it thanks to the great organization and professionalism of the instructors. It was clear from their presentation that they genuinely care about their clients and the quality of the experience they provide. Everything was well-prepared, useful, and enjoyable. We had an amazing experience at Croatia Sailing Academy! The hospitality was excellent, and the skippers were incredibly kind and professional. It was a bad experience from start to finish! Organization is basically not existing. I went to do the "professional C license" but i found myself in a place that just rips you off to the last cent. As other people pointed out the schedule is absolutely not respected, they sell you one thing and then deliver a whole other stuff. With the amount of money that we pay there should be some standards but no, we were sent to the hostels and they were just bad: In Rijeka our hostel was totally on the other side of the city with nothing to do around and far away from where we had theory lessons or about one hour walking distance, totally unnecessary since there are hostels 5 minutes away. In Pula we were placed in another hostel that was infested with bedbugs and all of this just to save 5€. On the boat we had to buy literally everything, and we're talking even of basic stuff like cleaning supplies/salt etc, all things that the group from before already had bought but the organization decided to strip the boat to the bone and just pocket stuff like that, i mean who does businesses that way?! It's your boat! You should at least provide a mop for the bathroom and not pocket it after someone else buys it! But i guess they don't really care about the boats since there's filled with problems and things that are broken, loosed and dirty. On the course program it was scheaduled to go about 50nM more towards south but the skippers decided to go back instead saying that we don't have enough time, just to cut the trip short and arriving back to Pula 4 DAYS IN ADVANCE!!!! For that reason we skipped many parts and ports of Croatia that i was looking forward.That's a plain robbery! 4 days of sailing and traveling is a lot and we spent those days basically in a marina doing absolutely nothing!!! People basically took vacation days just to spend time in a single place in the middle of nowhere. The exam is pathetic, we all passed it, it literally lasted 2 minutes max. I just wished someone else pointed this things out in the reviews before so that i could have saved my time and money going with another company. I still don't understand how they have a high score since literally all of us on the boat felt scammed in a certain way. They're not to be trusted!!

Organisation eher mangelhaft und sehr chaotisch, es wird sehr an Geld geschaut und gespart (Hostel in Rjieka unterirdisch, immer die günstigsten Marinas angesteuert etc.). Die Trainer sind aber nett und kompetent, auch wenn manche nicht genug Englisch konnen oder ihre Crew nicht ganz im Griff haben. Ziel aber erreicht, Schein bekommen!
