Josephina’s cooking class was AMAZING! 🌟 As a busy mom and educator, I really appreciated how patient, organized, and fun Jeronimo made the entire experience. He took us shopping in the market and explained each step clearly, shared helpful tips I can actually use at home, and made everyone in the class feel confident—no matter their skill level. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and I left feeling inspired and excited to cook more. Highly recommend her class to anyone looking for a memorable, hands-on cooking experience! I cannot wait to return and cook something different. My daughter and I loved it!

A great introduction to Cozumel cuisine. Jeronimo was an amazing guide, chef, and host. The tour through the marketplace was an excellent introduction to the cooking class. Learning about the local fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat in the marketplace was invaluable. We chose our meal and then went to the kitchen to prepare the food. The class was not just on how to prepare a dish, but a lesson in history, culture, and customs. And, most importantly, the dishes we prepared were DELICIOUS and so fresh. I would highly recommend this class to those interested in learning about cooking and the local culture. Jeronimo is a STAR! GRACIAS.

Outstanding cooking class, Jeronimo knows his stuff makes it easy to understand and follow along. You won't be making just a couple of dishes in this class, I think we did about 9 - this class was probably the best one I've had in all my travels.

An Unforgettable Day of Cozumel Culture and Cooking! We spent nearly four hours completely immersed in authentic Cozumel culture, and it was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to bring my husband and boys back to do it, too! First stop: the local local market (not the touristy one) where we learned about which ingredients are native versus imported, how to pick the freshest produce, and did a little shopping for souvenirs. Next stop: right across the street for fresh, warm tortillas sprinkled with just a little salt. Simple, perfect, and absolutely heavenly. Final stop: the home of Jeronimo and his mother, Josefina. For three hours, we cooked, laughed, and learned together, it felt like spending the afternoon at a family member’s house. We made so much: refreshing Jamaica to drink, a “Mexican hummus” made from roasted pumpkin seeds, tomatoes, and habanero powder (I loved it so much I bought the ingredients to take home!), both red and green salsas, refried beans I’ll never make any other way again, and authentic chile rellenos, one vegetarian with patty pan squash and Oaxaca cheese, and another with ground beef. We also whipped up fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, handmade tortillas, and dragonfruit lemonade. My favorite? Squash topped with shredded cheese, a Dutch influence from a centuries-old shipwreck! We ended with snapper Veracruz made with fish Jeronimo caught that very morning. This was an incredible, heartfelt day full of stories, flavor, and connection. Jeronimo is a true gem, passionate, warm, and welcoming. If you want to experience Cozumel in the most authentic, personal way possible, this is it.

It’s wonderful that you enjoyed visiting the mercado, choosing your ingredients, and learning about local flavors (and we agree, those margaritas are hard to beat!). As for the hibiscus tea, it’s made from dried hibiscus flowers, or flor de jamaica, you can usually find them at Latin markets (or Amazon). My 11 year old son, 8 year old daughter, husband, mother and myself were fortunate enough to join Jeronimo for the cooking class in Cozumel last week. Shopping in the market was both fun and educational. We cooked and ate so much food, every dish was more delicious than the last. Jeronimo's passion for food, cooking and culture is infectious. My kids even stayed entertained (and they LOVED the food, especially the mango smoothies!). One of the best and most unique excursions I've done. You will not be disappointed.

We had a great time with Jeronimo, Josefina's son. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about local cuisine. The local market was fascinating and the food very fresh. He cooked many things for us to sample in his kitchen and we helped with the main course including making our own tortillas. We chose the fish and shrimp and it was all amazingly delicious. He was able to adjust the seasonings from mild to hot according to each person's taste. We were a group of five adults. Finding a taxi from the ship was easy and Jeronimo arranged return transportation, The local people were friendly and we always felt safe. We would highly recommend this experience.

Absolutely FANTASTIC experience!! Jeronimo is very cool and down to earth, and you can just feel his love for cooking. He shared so much info on the ingredients we used to cook, and other types of foods in the Mercado. His Ceviche was literally the best I've ever had and I've grown up making Ceviche! We cooked many dishes and left super full of fresh flavors. Super clean and well done. A fantastic experience, well worth it.
