Great location the jungle with a terrific casual atmosphere. Rooms are in cabins and are spotlessly clean. This is a family resort but they do try to keep the house level down as it is a “quiet” experience. Staff are terrific and the onsite hikes are great. Off site experiences we thought were expensive but everything is boat focussed so they take a bit of getting to. Great experience and fabulous staff

Intimate luxury combined with exceptional hospitality - LOVE this place!!
We spent a week here, a family trip. Grandma, daughters, husbands, and adult children. This place exceeded any expectations and has spoiled us for life. All luxury resorts will be compared to Copa de Arbol, with Copa de Arbol winning every time. We were picked up at the Drake Bay airport by staff, taken to the beach where we boarded boats to the resort. We were met with staff who washed the sand off our shoes and gave us welcome drinks - and it just kept getting better and better! We stayed across five accommodations; all perfectly suited with AC (March is hot and humid). The staff knew our names by dinner, and they were professional and respectful yet friendly, thoughtful, and they made us feel really special. All meals are included, and every meal was a celebration of variety, local ingredients, and healthy portions. And... so delicious! We conspired to steal Chef Juan at the end of the trip (we didn't - he's still there so you can enjoy his creations). We miss his coconut cookies. We asked at the desk about excursions, and they arranged our trips to the Corcovado National Park, snorkeling at Cano Island, and a morning nature-spotting walk. The guides provided were exceptional. The pool and beach are wonderful (don't miss happy hour), and we took advantage of the hiking trails to explore miles in all directions, spotting monkeys, coati, macaw, toucans, basilisk, hawks, frigate birds, pelicans, parrots, dolphins, and sloths - many were rights on the property! What makes Copa de Arbol so special is the staff. The resort feels intimate and unique, the staff welcomes you like a family, and they pay attention to every little detail. Every day held new surprises, and they were all wonderful and welcome. My husband and I would happily return for another week here!

Folks, if you have never been to Copa De Arbol, let me tell you a little about it. The property is simply gorgeous. Incredible tropical sunsets from the beach. Swimming in the warm, protected waters of the ocean cove. Hearing the jungle animals awakening each morning. Walking the forest paths. Watching the animals right from your chaise lounge at the pool. Relaxing in the Balinese-style villa. Fantastic dinners at the open-air restaurant. And my personal favorite: ringing the cocktail bell at the pool each day at happy hour 😉
But let me tell you something else. What makes Copa not just the best hotel in Drake Bay. Nor just the best hotel in Costa Rica. Copa De Arbol is the best hotel in the world. The reason: the people. The people who live and work here are simply amazing. This is what make a truly great hotel.

Exceptional experience.
Our family of 4 had an exceptional experience at Copa De Arbol. It was the perfect intersection between adventurous and luxurious. The property was carefully maintained and yet true to its surroundings. Our accommodations were a beautiful (air conditioned) sanctuary, yet immersed in nature. We heard the crashing waves from every angle. Having meals prepared and excursions planned allowed me to put my phone in airplane mode and only use it for taking pictures of the beauty and wildlife around us. We had an amazing trip! Copa de Árbol exceeded every expectation we had for a remote eco-lodge experience. We we so impressed by the attentiveness of the staff. Every detail was anticipated, and every interaction was genuine and personal. We were able to fully relax and enjoy the surroundings. We remarked several times about how the guest experience here was one of the best we had ever experienced, anywhere. The property itself is impeccably maintained. The grounds, rooms, and shared facilities are all spotless, which is especially impressive given the lodge’s location in the Osa Peninsula. The entire Copa de Arbo team takes pride in keeping the entire experience at a very high standard. The location itself is simply unreal. Being on the beach and on the edge of the jungle is an immersive experience. We had daily encounters with monkeys, sloths, and a wide variety of exotic birds. A beautiful resort in a perfect location...
This was our third trip to Costa Rica, first time in the Osa Peninsula, and our favorite area by far. We loved the remoteness and small size of the resort, as well of course as the amazing and caring staff, beautiful pool and beach, delicious food, comfortable room. We stayed in #10 the Amargo; it was beautiful and private. Brayan and Lissbeth were friendly and very helpful as the front desk/host staff throughout our 5 night stay. The kitchen/bar staff (Henry, Daniel, Mauricio, Esteban, Gabriel) were very friendly and attentive, could not have been better at their jobs. The food and drinks were delicious. We enjoyed a trip to Corcovado National Park and Cano Island for snorkeling, Anthony was a great guide for both. Highly recommend deep tissue massages with Anna. The housekeeping and grounds staff did an exceptional job of keeping everything pristine but beautifully natural as you are in the rainforest. The hiking trail on the property and the trail along the beach were also great to have easy access to. This resort is perfect for those looking to relax, avoid crowds, enjoy beautiful Costa Rican rainforest, wildlife, and beaches, delicious food and drinks without a "party" scene. We highly recommend this resort and plan on returning in the future!

I had the BEST time at Copa this past March. As a solo traveler, I wanted to make sure I felt safe, taken care of, and that I wouldn't miss out on the adventure- and that is the exact experience I had. Some highlights were Corcovado National Park, and being set up for 2 scuba diving days at Cano Island. However, the level of service from all of the staff and the food itself was amazing. I honestly would come back. It is also an excellent place to see sloths. monkeys, and reptiles (and much more) galore on site. Also, Summer answered all of my emails (there were a lot) and made me feel extremely prepared for this trip. I had the best time and would recommend.

Phenomenal experience! This hotel is sandwiched between the rainforest and the beach, and only accessible via boat. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves and awoke to bird calls and howler monkeys.
The grounds are impeccably maintained, the staff is incredible, and the food is exquisite.
There are hikes and snorkeling and kayaking for those interested in eco-tourism, and if you're looking for more of a spa experience, there is a decadent three-tiered pool, fully stocked bar, and massages available upon request.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights during our honeymoon. I don’t think we will ever stay somewhere as welcoming, beautiful, serene and wonderful as Copa De Arbol. Everything is taken care of by their amazing staff from the second you get on the boat to get there. The bar and restaurant staff- Alonso, Esteban, Mauricio, Henry, Daniel- always happy and served the best food and drinks! Albert and Lisseth helped with scheduling and making sure our stay was everything we wanted. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

One word - Exceptional.
Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of our trip to Costa Rica. One word sums this resort up - exceptional. Set as it is about 30 minutes by road and a further 10 minutes by boat, the resort blends in to it’s surroundings such that you get a really good feel of being in the rainforest yet it is located on the beach. After a wet landing we were warmly greeted by Brayan who along with Lissbeth are the main contact points. Our room was 2 minutes from the beach, extremely comfortable with 2 queen beds and comfy chairs on the veranda. The restaurant was upstairs with amazing views through the forest onto the beach and Pacific Ocean. This was only the start though - the service and food in the restaurant were superb. All the staff in the restaurant from Daniel, Henry, Alonso, Gabriel, Mauricio and Esteban - hopefully I have not forgotten anyone - were so helpful and thoughtful. The chefs cooked up a delightful variety of food including making sure gluten free options were available. Certainly the gluten free bread was very good but the best were the gluten free cookies. The trips out included snorkelling at the nearby Canos Island, night hikes and Corcovado National park were with an excellent in house guide Anthony as well as other local guides when needed. Everything was done to ensure our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. This is definitely a resort we would thoroughly recommend and exceeded all expectations. Don’t miss out if visiting Costa Rica.

wonderful short holiday in this beautiful peaceful place in the midst of the rainforest and on the edge of the sea. We stayed in secluded individual cabins surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest. All the staff were excellent , friendly and helpful in every way. We especially had special service from Daniel and Henry in the restaurant. We had an excellent snorkelling trip to Cano Island, Corcovado national park and a night hike.

A week in a tropical paradise
Our 2nd visit was just as fabulous as our first. From the minute you step off the boat and are greeted with a refreshing detox mocktail prepared by an incredible staff, you know you’re in paradise 🏝️. Every experience is tastefully curated, from the incredible meals that are locally sourced and delicious to the off resort tours run by knowledgeable guides, Anthony and Isaac. It is all about the people! The professional staff is helpful and attentive. It feels like family, making it very difficult to leave. From Mauricio and Daniel serving our amazing meals to Estebon, Alonso and Henry ensuring every cocktail was special and tasty, full of local fruits and homemade juices. The cottages are fresh and clean, with incredible jungle and ocean views. The housekeeping staff slip in and out without you knowing they’ve completely cleaned up. What else could you need? How about some beach chairs and an umbrella for your own secluded spot on the beach to watch for macaws eating almonds and swim in the beautiful and never cold waves. Just say the word, and Albert grants your wish. It truly is a special place. We will be back for sure. The frequent visits from the whiteface capuchins and the local 3-toed sloth make it the paradise we needed for our holiday. Hard to stress about work when surrounded by such a beautiful location. Paradise on earth
You could write thousands of words about this magnificent place, but let me just tell you that after many years of traveling around the world, often to the most beautiful spots on this planet, this is the one place we would most like to come back to... It's surrounded by stunning natural beauty, the rooms (cabins) are so comfortable, cozy and clean, there are all sorts of wonderful excursions, everything is easily arranged and perfectly guided, food is fantastic, you can be lazy or very active and never be bored, and most of all: all staff is amazing. They make you feel so much at home and welcome, never had a better feeling about that. The only mistake you can make here is to make yours stay too short. We were here for 4 nights, and will make that more next time...

Fabulous Experience at Copa De Arbol
After my wife and I first went to Costa Rica about 12 years ago, we always said that we wanted to go back to visit the Osa Peninsula. And, we couldn't have had a better experience than staying at Copa De Arbol, which our travel agent had highly recommended. This is a remote resort with only about 10 cabinas (villas) serving 25 guests at any given time. Yes, it's on the beach but this is a jungle experience, which we loved. Each villa is very private from the others with a central restaurant where you have breakfast, lunch and dinner. We quickly got to know the staff who did an excellent job and it was one of the best food experiences we've had....and we travel on a regular basis! We stayed there 4 days and because you weren't overwhelmed by other people, you never had to rush to the pool or beach. There were times it was just the two of us and then there were times where the intimacy of the resort made it very conducive to interact with other nature loving people from all parts of the globe. We’re from New York and quickly became friendly with people from Switzerland, Australia and California. This was a unique experience, which we higly recommend!

We have been home for a few days now, and I am still dreaming of Copa del Arbol. Believe all of the reviews- it is a unique and magical place. This is our fifth visit to Costa Rica and now our very favorite lodge. There are two things that make Copa stand out for me. First and foremost-the staff. 5+++ service, with absolutely no pretension. You feel like cherished guests of a warm and attentive family, whose entire goal is to make sure you are comfortable and have a wonderful time. A couple of examples stand out for me. I mentioned to one of the dining staff that I would skip the yogurt on my breakfast order due to some lactose intolerance, and the next day he brought me almond milk for my cereal and had the fabulous passionfruit parfait for dessert made lactose free for me. Upon arrival, Daniel spent an hour with us in the dining room chatting and bringing us a fabulous breakfast, even though breakfast was no longer officially being served. On our departure day, Mauricio prepared a travel lunch for us, wrapped carefully and delivered at the landing dock for us. The boat staff brought water and towels, so we could wash our feet before changing into shoes for our flight home. Esteban walked with us after lunch to show us the hummingbird nest with the baby hummingbird. Small but meaningful acts of thoughtfulness. Many thanks to all of the dining staff-Daniel, Mauricio, Alonso, Henry, Esteban and Gabriel. We miss you all! The resort is very small, so it is easy to get around and easy to meet people. The guests were all incredibly friendly and again, no pretentiousness. Just relaxed nature lovers. Another thing that makes the lodge a standout is the beauty of the rooms. We booked only one month in advance, so did not have any choice of cottages, but if you do, I would choose one of the cottages on stilts. They are tucked away in the forest yet close to the dining room, private and incredibly spacious. Meticulously clean and built with gorgeous local woods, including the furniture inside. Everything was in perfect order. The a/c worked beautifully, bathroom was large and beds super comfortable. The wildlife and tours…the mammals on the property seemed to be on vacation during our five day stay, but we saw loads of birds and mammals on our tours. We had the good fortune to have Anthony for four tours, and he is an absolute gem! Wonderful bird and mammal finding skills, deep knowledge, enthusiasm and patience. We are casual but appreciative birders, and he was gracious enough to email a list of all of the birds we saw on our four excursions, as well as send me the beautiful wildlife photos he took on our mangrove tour. Ask the desk staff for him to be your guide if you take any private tours. I highly recommend the mangrove tour, even if you arrived by boat. It is exceptional for birds and mammals. Macaws nesting, a barn owl nest with two owlets, 3 species of monkeys with babies, dozens of exotic birds, including the Cocos and Red footed Booby. We also saw a lot at Corcovado- tapir, mother and baby anteater, large troops of howler monkeys, 9 coatis in a pack, peccaries, many birds. The boat rides are part of the great fun of staying here and Daniel is an exceptional captain. He figures out how to back the boat close to the beach and get you out safely and calmly on wavy days. He also helped us get close to loads of wildlife on the mangrove tour and is a great spotter. Thank you Daniel. The ocean was too rough for swimming a few days, but on the day we got in the water, it was warm and beautiful. This is the trip we will always remember!
