Costa Rica - Copa De Arbol review Short review: If you are looking for an all inclusive resort in the Drake Bay in a secluded, scenic location, just go ahead and book Copa De Arbol. The pictures don’t do justice to the resort and where its located! Long review: Resort: Location, location, location. It’s truly rain forest meets the beach. You go to sleep listening to the sound of the crashing waves, wake up to the sound of birds (including Macaws) and head over to enjoy a hearty breakfast. There are hiking trails around the property with stunning views of the bay. Special call out to the kitchen crew. They serve amazing food every time and I kept looking forward to the next meal. The serving staff is excellent and very friendly. We truly felt the Pura Vida spirit at the resort. Activities: We booked the Corcovado national park tour, Rio Carlo tour, Mangrove tour, and night exploration tour. We got an exceptional tour guide in Anthony(Antonio) for 3/4 tours who kept our kids engaged and made all the explorations very enjoyable. We had an energetic guide in Reynoldo for the Rio Carlo tour and he had an infectious energy! (I can still hear his “chicos” call).

Amazing Experience!
We were just at Copa de Arbol last week, and our experience was nothing short of incredible. The property itself is stunning, but it was the people who made our stay truly unforgettable. The staff went above and beyond in every interaction. What really stood out was how quickly and kindly they jumped in to help us when we needed to make unexpected flight changes. Their support took so much stress off our shoulders and reminded us how special it is to stay somewhere where the team truly cares. From start to finish, the hospitality was impeccable. We can’t recommend Copa de Arbol highly enough and are already looking forward to returning.

Das Copa de Arbol liegt traumhaft im Dschungel direkt am Strand.
Wir waren im April 25 für 3 Nächte mit unserer erwachsenen Tochter dort. Die Lage ist definitiv paradisisch!
Die Bungalows sind hübsch eingerichtet, der Bereich mit den Hängematten im „Erdgeschoss“ist leider etwas lieblos. Hier gibt es deutlich Potenzial nach oben.
Das Essen war durchweg gut, vor allem der täglich frische Smoothie aus frischen Früchten war ein Highlight bei jedem Essen, vor allem bei der Hitze im April.
Der Pool liegt wirklich fantastisch schön zwischen Strand und Dschungel, ein Traum. Leider waren bei uns die Pools meistens von den Kindern der amerikanischen Gäste bevölkert, was die Idylle dieses Ortes leider etwas zerstört hat.
Besonders hervorheben möchte ich den Service, der ausgezeichnet war. Schon die Begrüßung war 5 Sterne wert und während unseres gesamte Aufenthalts wurden wir behandelt wie Könige, vielen Dank hierfür.
Auch wenn das Copa de Arbol eines der teuersten Hotels der Gegend ist, lohnt sich der Aufenthalt unbedingt. Man hat dezenten Luxus am gefühlten Ende der Welt.
Die Klimaanlage und der Pool machen den Unterschied zu den übrigen Hotels dort, auf keines der beiden wollten wir verzichten.
Einen Kritikpunkt habe ich aber: leider werden nach dem Abendessen sehr schnell alle Lichter gelöscht und schon um ca. 20:30 erwartet, dass man in sein Zimmer geht.
Da das Zimmer zu dritt aber ziemlich beengt ist, wollten wir gerne noch im Restaurant sitzen bleiben, gemeinsam etwas trinken und spielen. Uns wurde das dann auch erlaubt, wir haben die Lichter dann selber gelöscht, aber bedient wurden wir nicht mehr.
Alle Angestellten waren gegangen und als einzige Gäste im Halbdunkel war es dann recht ungemütlich. Damit ist einem die Chance genommen den Abend gemütlich ausklingen zu lassen.
Wir sind uns bewusst, dass viele Gäste früh aufstehen wegen der verschiedenen Touren, aber es soll auch Gäste geben, die das Hotel genießen möchten und nicht um 9 Uhr ins Bett gehen wollen.
Alles in allem war es aber 5 Sterne Aufenthalt, von dem wir heute nich träumen!

Spectacular
Copa de Arbol provided the perfect combination- the feeling of a wilderness environment (beautiful, unadorned beaches, no organized entertainment other than the tours) along with very comfortable cabins and very good food. As many have said, the staff members are universally lovely, welcoming and helpful. Having Summer as a contact while planning the vacation was wonderful. We had several tours with Anthony, who is so knowledgeable (and an amazing diver). All the dining and desk staff were terrific. Highly recommend.

We had the most magical and relaxing stay at Copa De Árbol! Everything about the resort is absolutely perfect—from the beautiful landscape and wildlife to the delicious food and drinks to the friendly and attentive staff. They truly make you feel like family. When our taxi had trouble locating us for pickup, Summer quickly contacted Lisseth who stayed in communication with both the taxi driver and the ferry boat captain to make sure we would arrive on time. Lisseth also quickly rescheduled our Cano Island trip when it was postponed due to the tsunami warning and substituted horseback riding which turned out to be one of our favorite activities. Lisseth, Brayan, Albert, Daniel, Greivin, Alonso, Esteban, Henry, Isaac, Anthony, Chocolate and many more made this trip the adventure of a lifetime! We left part of hearts at Copa De Árbol and can’t wait to go back!! Pura Vida!! ❤️

Copa de Arbol is so perfect I almost don't want to share the secret. The location and grounds are about as idyllic as you can get. We had the beach practically to ourselves every day and fell asleep to the sound of the waves on the shore every night.. The hotel is meticulously cared for and the rooms are beautifully appointed. But what really makes this place great are its people. Daniel, Alonso, and Lisseth are total superstars at what they do, bringing contagious enthusiasm, professionalism, and genuine kindness to everyone around them. Without exception, the entire staff at Copa de Arbol were amazing. Chef Juan uses all fresh local ingredients to create a restaurant experience that is delicious, detailed, and unforgettable (those ribs!). Overall, the attention to detail and professionalism made this place a 12/10. We dream of going back. It truly is a paradise.

Las habitaciones, la piscina y el comedor... muy hermosos, cuidados, limpios y sin que les falte ningun detalle. Pero lo MEJOR.... el staff. TODOS, absolutamente TODOS, se portaron genial. Uno de veras que se siente cuidado y bien atendido. Hacen de la estancia una experiencia excepcional y personal. Amazing and Refreshing Experience
Wow!!! All I can say is you are made to feel special from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. We arrived on August 3rd and as it’s a wet landing, we were met at the beach by Lisseth (front desk) and other staff that helped with the luggage. Lisseth was super friendly and met us with such a warm welcome. Our luggage was taken to the room while we were met with nice cool drinks at the lobby. Brayan, also at the front desk was very helpful as well. Food - all the meals were delicious and creative so kudos to the chef. The complimentary drinks were also refreshing and creative as well. The icing on the cake though were the people. The staff that waited on us were super friendly, attentive and made us feel so welcomed. So enjoyed hearing their stories and how passionate they were about the hotel and making sure we enjoyed our stay. Thank you Daniel, G., Alonso and others that made such a great team. Things to do - they offered a variety of tours one could book but also had hiking trails you could take on your own. The beach is also right there as well as the beautiful infinity pool. Accommodation- the room/cabana was beautiful, had air conditioning and laundry was an option. I could say so much more but to end this, when we left to catch our flight to San Jose airport, we had another wet landing and they were thoughtful to provide towels s water to rinse our feet. Truly an amazing experience and would recommend this place. The beauty, quietness and friendliness of the staff is truly impressive. Oh - let’s not forget the beautiful wildlife from monkeys, birds like Tucans and Scarlet McCaws ( you’re fortunate to see them). Many thanks for making our first visit to Costa Rica a very memorable experience and look forward to returning, LORD Willing.

Heaven on earth! It’s perfect from the moment you arrive till it’s time to leave.
I can’t begin to tell you how much we loved Copa de Arbol. Truly, there are no words to describe how amazing this place is. I will start with the amazing staff. We have traveled to many places but never have we had the one on one attention that we received while at this resort. From the minute we stepped out of the boat we were greeted as if we were family. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, knew our names . Daniel, Henry, Esteban, Greivin, Alonso, Albert, Brayan, Lizette (if I’ve missed a nameI, I’m sorry), are priceless. They are the heart of Copa de Arbol. I can’t stress that enough. I couldn’t even say goodbye because I was crying and didnt want to embarrass myself. We are going to plan a return trip for next year just so we can see them and of course because we love Copa de Arbol! The landscaping, pool, cabins, beach and unbelievable view…….photos don’t do it justice! The food! Oh my goodness! The chef prepared meals that surpassed anything I’ve ever had. Even the presentation was 5 stars! Chef Juan is amazing. The daily monkey entertainment was just what we needed. I’ve not laughed so hard in a long time. Especially the monkeys trying to get into the lodge. The guys were prepared for all of their tricks and trust me, these monkeys are crafty. I could truly go on and on. The idea of not waking up to jungle and beach sounds, the smell of rain-cleaned air, and everything else that makes Copa de Arbol so special, makes me sad! I’m also going to miss my days of hanging out with their dog, Chocolate’. I love that they care so much about him. He’s the perfect dog to greet arriving guests. There wasn’t one thing to complain about. Not even transportation! Everything was perfect in every way. I’ve never been able to say that about any place we’ve traveled to before. It’s heaven on earth. Pura Vida❤️ By the way, rainy season is the best season. We saw 7 whales with babies! We saw a pair right in front of the resort. The excursions we did, Corcovado, Caño Island, snorkeling and fishing were perfect. We caught snapper, which Chef Juan grilled for us that evening. Not to mention, he makes the best ceviche I’ve ever eaten. Don’t let the term “rainy season” fool you. There are afternoon showers, maybe one in the morning and thunderstorms that are amazing to watch and listen to. The sun comes out almost everyday. So much to do, yet so hard to leave Copa de Arbol to do it!

This is one of the best resorts we have ever been to. The staff is unbelievably kind, thoughtful, attentive, and helpful. One morning we missed the breakfast window and they still brought it to our room.
Daniel, Henry, and Alonso were the best wait staff we have ever experienced. The reception staff Lisa and Bryan were exceptional. Lisa knew I liked a certain sauce offered at the restaurant and went out and bought some for us to take home with us. They truly treat you like family here!! Never seen anything like it!

Incredible Stay
Absolutely incredible stay at Copa de Arbol. The scenery is stunning, the adventures are amazing, and a delightful staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Snorkeling and visiting Corvocado National Park were great adventures - lots of wildlife and the best tour guides. This is a truly special place that you will remember.
I decided to disconnect in nature for my birthday at Copa de Arbol with my wife. There is nothing better than turning off the computer, the phone and getting away from all screens!
Spent the weekend in the rainforest, hoping that we might see a jaguar. Not much luck with the jaguar, but Copa del Arbol is a hidden gem for sure!! I can't thank the staff enough - from Summer in reservations, to our knowledgeable tour guide Isaac, Alfonso and Esteban in the restaurant, Francisco our boat captain. There were so many wonderful people that helped make the stay here really special - thank you!
Copa de Arbol is located in one of the most incredible places in Costa Rica! This is a place where you can hike for miles along a rainforest trail that runs pasta pristine beaches and not run into a single person for hours. I can’t believe I had such a beautiful place to myself! Well, I share it with the monkeys, sloths, boa constrictors, tapirs, mountain lions, etc. lol

The resort provides rubber boots so kids (and adults!) can enjoy the self-guided, lush jungle trails looking for animals. A huge highlight for us was exploring some of these same trails at night with a guide. Not to give too many fun surprises away but we saw some critters that glow!!! The beach is beautiful and peaceful, with incredible, deep, swimmable, tide pools full of fish and sea creatures to discover and even tiny octopus! Kayaks, a gorgeous tiered swimming pool which was a fave with the kids, and the charming poolside “shell-bell” for drink service made for endless fun.
Our villa ("Palm #5") was stunning and conveniently close to all amenities. Mealtimes were a treat. There was always a surprise, colorful, fancy drink of the day, which the kids loved. Delicious multi-course meals with warm, personal service. The staff went above and beyond to make our whole family feel welcome and cared for.
Copa de Arbol gave us the perfect mix of adventure, nature, luxury, and relaxation, and we’re already dreaming of going back. Highly recommend for families looking for a truly special experience in Costa Rica.

Fantastic getaway with friends in the rainforest
Fantastic stay with friends in an incredible resort. The staff were incredibly kind and willing to help us feel right at home. They truly think of almost everything and did a fantastic job anticipating our needs. The attention to detail was not unnoticed, and we all truly enjoyed our time in this beautiful jewel of a resort. The food was incredible and authentically Costa Rican. The tours and excursions from the resort were well curated which led to wonderful experiences in Corcovado and scuba diving on Isla de Caño. Also, the massage therapist for the resort, Anna, is incredible. It was a special trip for us and we cannot wait to return.
