Buying and selling houses is not my favourite pastime, find it quite a stressful experience, but Mark made the process of buying our new home easy for us as buyers, and managed this process from start to finish. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and would now always return to Collins first if we needed to buy or sell again in the future. Not your typical estate agent.

Really disappointing experience with Collins Estate Agents, I arranged to view a property and Mark ran through issues with the house, informing me that the windows to the front would need doing, the bathroom was in need of renovation, and that the basement was unable to be considered a bedroom due to reduced headroom, but remarked that the house was "well-priced" and had had an abundance of interest as a result. My partner and I then drove for three hours to view the property, the agent that showed us round was pleasant and kindly informed us that we would be able to access a survey from a previous seller that had dropped out of the sale with "cold feet" due to concern about some damp conditions. It was heavily implied that this was as they intended to source highly moisture sensitive musical instruments in the basement, and the motivation for the price reduction was simply to ensure a quick sale.
Following this, we were sent two surveys - one from the seller in April, and a second from the previous potential buyer in October, both surveys advise that the property has considerable woodworm throughout and advised some degree of works to address damp. Sadly, it seems that the 'potential' damp in the basement that the agent suggested was caused by the age of the property was, in the more recent survey, advised to be treated with over £27,000 of remedial works (excluding the cost of supporting building work) requiring the removal of the plaster, plumbing, electronics, and staircase from the basement, the treatment of most walls on the ground floor, and ceiling-to-floor rendering in two regions on the first floor.
We viewed the property with an understanding it would need work, feeling confident that in disclosing the issues initially mentioned that surely those would be the most considerable ones that Collins was aware of. Unfortunately, the entire experience has left us with a bad taste and a lot of wasted time, I would expect better from such a highly rated independent Estate Agents, and will have to think again before viewing a property marketed by them in the future.
I assume you are the partner of the person I spoke to last week and arranged a viewing that my colleague conducted on Saturday. This is an assumption as we have never met, so I hope this is correct.
I believe this review doesn't fairly reflect our service for several reasons. During my initial call with your partner, I was completely transparent about the property's condition, specifically highlighting issues with the windows, bathroom, and basement. We deliberately chose an informal tender process and realistic pricing strategy to reflect these known issues.
While I understand you travelled some distance to view the property, you were aware of its condition beforehand. The review appears to be based on the property's condition rather than our service quality, which may mislead potential clients researching our business.
Throughout this process, we've maintained complete transparency about the property's condition, both before and after your viewing. My six-year track record and consistently positive reviews reflect my commitment to honest, straightforward service to both buyers and sellers.

I have never sold a house in the UK before and felt in very safe hands with Mark and his team. Everyone was incredibly professional, helpful and caring with every detail from the beginning to the end. I appreciated the frequent updates and quick replies.
