I have posted a move job request on Checkatrade and Michael from Chess Moves Deliveries got in touch promptly. Ultimately, I chose a different company solely due to the fact that they are located in very close proximity to where I live. However, Michael's communication and service were outstanding, the quote considerate and very fair. It was a pleasant experience dealing with someone who clearly cares about building trust in their company. This also shows in relevant accreditations, strong presence on review boards and platforms as well as a professional website.

I used this company to move out of my previous flat and into my new flat. The communication before moving day with Michael was very good, and the actual movers who came - Julian & Danny - were really fab! Didn’t bat an eye at the parking issues that’s common with London flats, was in great spirits & kept up the energy during a day where I was extremely stressed, and were very efficient. I was initially quoted £490 for the move (including dismantling and reassembly). i wanted to make it clear on emails like is it covering my sofa, wardrobe, dinner table. after this the price increased to £560.
When I asked why I was being charged an extra £70, they told me they “usually charge £100 per item” but hadn’t added it before — basically putting the responsibility on me.
This makes no sense. If dismantling and reassembly is included in the £490 quote, why are they giving an item-based price afterwards? What is the logic behind the quote then?
What if I had 20 items that needed dismantling — would the price jump to £2,000? Completely unclear and inconsistent pricing.

To clarify, your initial quote of £490 was based solely on the information you provided at the time. In your subsequent email, you supplied additional details about several items that required dismantling and reassembly. Once this information was received, we explained clearly why the price needed to be adjusted to reflect the increased scope of work.
You then confirmed in writing that you were happy to proceed at the revised rate. After this, you asked whether we had any vouchers or Black Friday offers available. I also suggested ways you could reduce the overall cost, such as dismantling certain items yourself, and provided detailed explanations for each of the 8 queries you raised regarding the pricing.
Ultimately, you decided the service was above your budget, and we completely respect that. We always aim to be transparent and helpful from the beginning, and I’m sorry we were not able to assist you on this occasion.

Chess were great. On time and careful. Very helpful and friendly.
We had a wonderful experience with Chess removals. Tre, Denzel and Tay were incredibly friendly and respectful on the day we moved. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was delivered safely and were very patient, as our vendor was late moving out. I fully recommend Chess removal's service.
Really good job under difficult circumstances
Three lovely people. Moving from flat above to flat below but old very heavy furniture having to pass down narrow twisting stairs with an narrow arch as well. So really difficult and they remained very patient and cheerful during the ordeal. Inevitable tiny damage to stud wall in the common parts which they were mortified about.

Highly recommend - stress free moving day!
I’m a bit late writing this review but needed to share what an amazing service we received from ChessMove Deliveries a couple of weeks ago. Great removal company
Tayo and his team were great for my house move. They were punctual, packed my belongings with care, and went above and beyond as my sofa wouldn't initially fit in my new place. They worked out a way talking me through each step and putting it all together once in. Not sure other removal companies would have took that much time to find a way to get my sofa in and was so grateful. Would highly recommend using chess moves best experience ive had with a removal company.
The job was to move our possessions out of storage into our refurbished home
The chaps from Chess were at our storage before us. Tayo, Trey and Danny got straight to work. They were very polite, hard working and took good care of our possessions for which we were very pleased. We knew we didn’t need to worry and were very pleased we chose them. We went with them because they are on Which? I would not hesitate to use them again and definitely recommend them to anyone planning a house move or moving possessions.
