I can’t recommend CTO dog training enough. I have an almost 2 year old, determined and sassy Yorkie! Love her to bits but we needed some input on behavioral training related to seperation anxiety and leash reactivity. With the very first session, we were able to determine triggers and start progressing. Chris was incredibly kind, patient, and professional. He took the time to really understand both me and my dog, and explained everything in a way that was easy to follow and actually implement. What really stood out to me was how supportive chris is beyond the initial session. He’s always available to answer my questions whenever they come up, which makes me feel so comfortable. He explains reasons for why we do certain things and it adds to the comfort. It’s clear he genuinely cares about both the dogs he works with and their owners. If you’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable, approachable, and truly invested in your success, I highly recommend him!

We had an excellent experience working with CTO. Chris and his team trained our dog Bella, a working line German Shepherd. From the start, it was clear they truly understand high-drive breeds and tailored the training specifically to her needs. One of the biggest improvements came from changing how we handled play and toys in the house. We learned to add structure and purpose, which made Bella more focused and responsive. They also emphasized mental stimulation—not just physical exercise—which was a game changer in helping her settle and stay balanced throughout the day. Bella’s obedience, confidence, and overall behavior have improved significantly, and we also learned how to properly communicate and reinforce training at home. Highly recommend CTO, Chris, and his team for anyone with a working or high-energy dog.

In 2 hours our lab was a different dog. Is it expensive, yeah but is with work it, absolutely. I’d do it again. I’d recommend him over and over again! Chris was great. He explained in great detail and was so patient.

I reached out to CTO for help with training my 3 year old German Shepard. He is very stubborn and does not always listen when distractions are present (which is always!!) he gets hyper focused on our cats and people who come to the door. Chris was amazing with him! He came to our house and showed my husband and I strategies we can use to work on behavior modification and obedience. He even came back a second time to support us more with him! Chris was super educational and was attentive to our needs. Would definitely recommend CTO!

We worked with Chris on our 8 mo Golden and it was a great experience overall. Chris was very kind, patient and really is an expert at what he does. We recently introduced the e-collar but wanted to make sure we knew how to properly use it to ensure we weren’t causing any harm and using it the right way. Chris walked us through the entire thing and answered every single one of our questions throughout the whole time. I initially thought it was an expensive session but Chris really spent quite a bit of time with us to ensure we were fully comfortable and cleared all our concerns. At no point did it feel like a rushed session and it really was worth every penny considering how well our pup is responding to the tools and knowledge that Chris set us up with. I am now planning to board him with Chris so he can further build upon the concepts he has learned so far and really take it up to the next level.

Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate this company's dedication and the transformative impact they've had on us. We recently adopted a Mastiff who was showing dog reactivity and early signs of resource guarding, especially with me. As sweet and loving as he is, he’s a big boy with big feelings, and we knew we needed the guidance of a professional to address these behaviors safely and effectively. I was initially nervous since I knew very little about board‑and‑train programs and had never met Chris before. He spent a generous amount of time on the phone with me before we even met, patiently answering all of my questions and making sure I felt informed and comfortable from the start. Throughout the program, we received regular updates on our dog's progress and what they were working on. Seeing not only the improvement but also how much our dog genuinely enjoyed his stay meant everything to us. Chris is incredibly knowledgeable and, just as importantly, a genuinely good person. His instruction is clear, supportive, and never condescending, which made learning from him such a positive experience.  We feel very fortunate to have met him and deeply appreciate that his guidance doesn’t end when the program does. Chris was amazing. We could tell as soon as he came to pick up our puppy. The pick up / drop off is so convenient and our puppy came back mostly potty and crate trained and good at following a number of prompts. We’re sending our puppy back the next time we go away!

I am the founder of a NJ dog rescue called Buddha Pooch Dog Rescue Project. We had an amazing experience with CTO Dog Training and Chris. We sent our 6-month-old Doberman, Ares, for training and the results honestly exceeded our expectations. Before training, Ares had a lot of energy and would bark quickly at new situations. After coming back, the change in his behavior is incredible. He’s calm, focused, and knows how to settle in the house. He can hold his “place” for over an hour, listens extremely well, and is much more confident without being overly clingy or anxious. Chris has been absolutely incredible to work with, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From the very beginning, he set himself apart by taking the time to have a lengthy phone conversation with me before we even started. He truly listened to my concerns, asked thoughtful questions, and made sure he understood exactly what Bentley and I needed. He answered every question thoroughly and made me feel confident that we were in the right hands. After just one session, the transformation in Bentley was remarkable. He went from being a stressed, anxious dog who barked constantly to a calm, happy dog who clearly thrived with the added structure Chris introduced. It was honestly amazing to see such a dramatic shift so quickly. We continued with three additional sessions focused on leash training and obedience in various locations, and Chris was extremely generous with his time throughout the entire process. He even made an extra visit to our home to work specifically on leash training with our dog walker — something he absolutely did not have to do, but that speaks volumes about his dedication. I am extremely happy with the training provided from CTO Dog Training, Trainer Abby, and Owner Chris for my sweet bubba, Wally (2 year old Mini Schnauzer). I did a ton of research into board and train programs for him - speaking to over 15 companies - wanting to balance the right methodologies with a supportive and friendly environment. From Call #1, Chris was informative, clear, and explained their method of training: Behavior Modification and Obedience. During Wally's stay, I received continuous updates about his progress: both videos and photos. Since it was a snow storm and it took Wally a few days to warm up, they even kept him a few days past his drop off to ensure he was groomed and to finalize the training. At drop off, Trainer Abby was great. She set up all of his new training material and took the time to walk me through the commands, the various collars, the expectations, and the things she noticed during his stay. I am very happy to have my best buddy back and very thankful for the work CTO Dog Training put in to making my "Good Boy" an even "Gooder Boy."
