We loved our stay at casitas tenorio! Our casita was comfortable and very clean, the breakfasts were delicious, and the staff was so helpful and friendly.
We especially loved the farm tour, listening and watching howler monkeys, playing with their puppy Nala, and wandering around the property.
We would comeback in a heartbeat if we ever come back to Costa Rica!
Very nice, large bungalows and great hosts
Absolutely loved our stay at Casitas Tenorio! Very friendly and helpful hosts, delicious breakfasts and lovely accommodations. Our casita was comfortable for the 4 of us with large windows overlooking the beautiful grounds and ceiling fans that kept it nice and cool. It felt very private but was close to the common area with books, games and WiFi. It’s an easy drive to town and activities - four wheel drive needed. If you have a chance to take the farm tour, it’s fun and informative and the kids enjoyed holding the bunnies and baby chick, feeding the sheep and milking a cow.
We stayed 2 nights at Casitas Tenorio during our honeymoon and had an incredible time. Our Casita was very nice and big, with two bedrooms and a big bathroom, which was perfect for us as we were travelling with our two year old daughter.
We didn’t have a lot of activities planned but they have an activity book and the staff is very helpful in giving advice on what to do. Jeffrey especially gave us great recommendations and helped us organise our activities. Everyone was super nice to us and to our daughter and it was one of the highlights of our stay in Costa Rica.
The morning farm tour followed by the delicious breakfast was also great.
Would absolutely recommend staying there if you want a quiet place in the middle of the jungle.
Our stay at Casita Tenorio was truly unforgettable. This was my first international trip alone with my 10- and 12-year-olds after losing my husband, and I was honestly overwhelmed at the thought of doing it solo. Nana and Jeffrey immediately stepped in and became a safety net of love and support. They treated us like family from the moment we arrived.
They went above and beyond in so many thoughtful ways — making special pancake breakfasts for my kids (and even gluten-free pancakes for me), helping me plan day trips and transportation, and even sending us off with beach towels for our water excursions. They played games with my kids so I could have a rare moment of peace as a single parent, which meant more than I can express.
The food was fresh and delicious, the casitas were spotless and comfortable, and the property itself felt magical. We saw sloths, monkeys, beautiful birds, and other wildlife right on site — something my kids will never forget.
By the time we left, it felt like we were saying goodbye to a beloved aunt and uncle. I actually cried. Nana and Jeffrey give the best hugs, and their kindness made this trip not just relaxing, but healing.
If you’re looking for a place with heart, warmth, and incredible hospitality, Casita Tenorio is truly special. I’m tearing up writing this. Thank you Nana and Jeffrey! We can’t wait to return.
We had the absolute most incredible time staying here! Nana, Jeff and the whole staff were so welcoming, helpful, accommodating and fun! The first thing we saw when we arrived were monkeys in the trees, and continued to see the monkeys every day we were there! The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed. We spent time with our kids playing cards on our porch. The breakfasts were delicious, everyone was happy! We loved the farm tour. Nana was incredibly helpful, as I was stressing about what tours and activities to do, but Nana knew about all of the excursions/tours had connections and made all of our reservations set in like 5 minutes! She gave the best recommendations for tubing down the Rio Celeste, the night hike, great restaurants, and all. We are so grateful and it felt like a dream staying there! We stayed with our 3 kids and they said that the days we stayed here were their favorite part of the trip.
What a dream! The best experience of our trip, hands down!

A Must Stop!
The casitas are nestled right in the rainforest, completely immersing you in the sights and sounds of nature. Within minutes of arriving, Jeff pointed out a sloth in a nearby tree and howler monkeys overhead—such an unforgettable introduction to the area. The sounds of the forest are incredibly peaceful (though the howler monkeys do provide a memorable early morning wake-up call!). One of the most touching moments of our stay was how kind Jeff was to our son. He had been playing with a soccer ball he found during some downtime, and when we were leaving, Jeff surprised him with a brand-new ball and pump so he could continue playing throughout our trip. It was such a thoughtful gesture that meant a lot to us. We also really enjoyed the farm tour and the on-site trails, which gave us even more opportunity to experience the beauty of the surroundings. Breakfast each morning was absolutely amazing—fresh, delicious, and made even better with Jeff’s homemade bread and jam. The location is also very convenient for visiting Rio Celeste, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. We can’t recommend this place highly enough. Jeff and Nana are truly wonderful hosts, and we would love to return someday! Julie & Mike Horechuk
A jungle retreat
The hosts were so kind and helpful. We saw sloths and Howler monkeys right outside our door. The place had everything we needed and stayed very cool at night. Breakfast was yummy and the farm tour was so much fun for my daughter. Would definitely stay again. Also, we loved their new puppy Nala.
We had the most wonderful stay at Nanas and Jeffs place... it's a magical place where you're treated as being part of the family.
Our "casita" felt like a palace in the jungle and was a dream to be able to stay in for two nights.
If you're looking for something different from the usual... this is a must-go!
This was an absolutely lovely stay. We stayed in El Bosque which is up front near the lodge. It was well appointed and clean and very nicely designed. I loved our window seat/bed. It felt very private even though we weren't far from the main building. We loved our porch where we sat to watch the birds and listen to the howler monkeys. Breakfast was ample and tasty. We had an early birding excursion and they packed a bag breakfast for us. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was an easy drive to town or about a 15 min drive to the Parque Volcan Tenorio and Tapir Valley. We did also do the farm tour and spent time walking on their wooded path. Very nice! Only downside was that there was no air conditioning. It turned out to be a plus for us as we enjoyed listening to the sounds of nature at night and it was perfectly pleasant. The altitude may make this a non-issue. It was amazing to me how much warmer it was in town than at the Casitas which are up the mountain.
Merci

Mi Casa es Su Casa
Our stay at mi casa es su casa was an absolute delight! Nana and Jeffrey were incredibly helpful and were willing to set up any experience that you wanted to do. Don’t skip on the cooking class as this is an incredible cultural experience you rarely get to have. You can also tour their farm along with the vast amount of experiences you can have in this area. This area is beautiful and so quiet if you are looking to get away and slow down.
We absolutely loved this place! We stayed four nights with our two children (ages 8 and 4) in the El Bosque casita. Overall, this place is pretty magical. Relaxing, beautiful, with wonderful people that staff and run the operation. Nana and Jeff provided us with helpful tips and made reservations for various activities in the area making it super easy. If you're thinking about staying here, do yourself a favor and settle in for multiple nights. You won't be disappointed!
