Booked a 5-day rental (Nov 23–28, 2025) at Orlando International Airport (MCO) through CarRental8. Paid in full weeks in advance.
Arrived at the Willy Park / Right Cars counter (the actual supplier). Everything is automated kiosks – no real staff on site. Because I’m not a US citizen, they insisted on extra insurance. Their remote manager personally verified my Mastercard over the phone and, because the card was accepted as valid, lowered the insurance to “only” $25/day (instead of the usual $40+ they try to force on foreigners). I also agreed to the $500 security deposit and signed everything.
Minutes later, the exact same Mastercard that their manager had just verified and approved could not be charged. The system failed repeatedly. They rebooted the terminal FIVE times over 30+ minutes – still nothing.
I immediately offered my US debit card – refused, because “it has to be a credit card.”
I had plenty of cash on me – they said there is no way to accept cash.
After almost an hour of this nonsense, no keys were ever handed over, no contract was completed, and I never drove the car for even one second.
Contacted CarRental8 the same day asking for a full refund. Their reply: “No refund – this is considered a refused rental.” They are hiding behind the supplier and refuse to return a single dollar, even though they were the ones who originally charged my card.
Thanks to this experience I discovered Uber for the first time – cheaper, faster, and zero stress compared to this disaster.
CarRental8 and Right Cars / Willy Park at MCO are running a coordinated prepaid-money-grab. Avoid them at all costs. Book with any major brand instead – you’ll thank yourself later.

Warning: Unacceptable Service and Total Holiday Disruption
This is a cautionary tale about my experience with CarRental8.com and Green Motion in Edinburgh. If you value your time and holiday plans, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere.
My booking was made for a full-cover, unlimited mileage plan. However, upon arrival at the Green Motion counter, I was informed that the booking from CarRental8.com was a basic plan with limited miles and no insurance. To get the plan I had already paid for, I was told I needed to pay an additional £230. Despite showing my confirmation email, which clearly stated "full cover insurance" and "unlimited miles," the Green Motion staff repeatedly refused to honor it, stating their order from CarRental8.com was different.
The nightmare it’s not over here, CarRental8.com appears to be completely unreachable. My girlfriend and I tried multiple times to contact them, but there is no direct phone number, and none of my emails have been answered to this day. We felt completely helpless and stranded.
The situation was made worse by the sheer number of other customers at the counter experiencing the exact same issue, many of whom had also booked through CarRental8.com. After waiting for over two and a half hours, my order was inexplicably canceled by Green Motion, leaving us scrambling to find an alternative.
Our holiday plans were completely ruined. We were forced to book a last-minute car from another provider at a much higher cost. The entire experience was a fraudulent mess. Even after the trip, my attempts to stop the payment through my card company were unsuccessful, so I was forced to pay for a service that was never rendered. This entire ordeal caused significant stress and even led to arguments with my girlfriend. I will be telling everyone I know to steer clear of CarRental8.com and Green Motion.

SCAM COMPANY DON'T RENT A CAR FROM HERE!!!
I paid upfront fully (prepayment) of £211 for 4 days (with extra protect costs included), but when I was at the counter, they said they don't accept debit cards, and that the credit card I had must have my full name displayed. In the UK, we do not have credit/debit cards that display our full names, just the first initial and last name. However, I had my passport, my international drivers licence and other forms of identification, yet they refused and brought up another "plan" where I essentially had to pay double insurance, one for myself and one for their company, even when my prepayment cost covered the insurance already. And then with THIS "plan" they said they could accept my credit card when earlier they refused to. Please AVOID this company, it's a total scam to rinse you of your money!
I was charged full amount twice !
Well i was charged full amount prepayment(minus insurance) for 8 days of rental then once at Budget counter, i was again charged for the 8 days ! I tried many ways both with Car Rental 8 AND Budget to get a due refund without success. These two companies are just juggling with their customers and are blaming each other for the problem. Conclusion: i paid twice the regular asked amount. AVOID

Book my car in Australia, Melbourne. When I went to pick it up. I was hit with a insurance cover coat which was $48 a day on top of the $650 I already paid. Something happen and we couldn't rent the car. So we try calling them but no one was working cause there office was base in America. So I had to rebook everything again spending more money the i should have. Call them to asked for my money back keep getting we are working on it.
Scam
I made a reservation through the website, when I arrived at the place to claim the car, they told me that that car had already been rented and that they could give me another one with a price increase, I did not accept, I asked for my money back and it has been more than 4 months and they still have not returned it to me, whenever I contact them I have no response. Do not contract with them, you will lose your money.

Zero customer service ! Ripoff
It's a ripoff - customer service is zero out of 10. You never know what car rental service you are booking with and they use a lot of temporary car rental platforms where the cars are old and unreliable ! There are so many other car rental platforms to use that provide much better customer service and you can still get the good car rental service and price !
Remember car rental 8 have zero customer service - use another platform !

Don’t go through this provider the promise the work and free cancellations outside of 48 hours we cancelled a week out and still no refund despite numerous emails
Extra hidden charges
We paid our deposit online to this company but then at pickup, Avis couldn’t see the full amount and charged us about 25% extra. On calling and emailing Carrental8’s customer service for over a month, they just came up with excuses and tried to tell me the nearly $200 I ended up paying extra was exchange rate and credit card fee etc etc which can never amount to this sum. They got to be more transparent and upfront about these hidden fees. Overall my experience was ridiculous and I will never use them again.

Outrageus Scam!!! Avoid!!!
I have had a prepaid reservation at Naples airport on 17 August, however once I arrived at the car hire desk, I have been informed that all cars are sold and not available for 3 weeks upfront. The hire desk's representatives were " blaming " the broker for still selling unavailable cars. I could not get any car more than 4 hours, neither from the booked hirer noir from other car hire companies around, due to the same overbooking situation.
When I eventually reached the broker over the phone to cancel my reservation and claim a refund, they refused to do so, asking to pass the phone to one of the hire desks representatives, who simply didn't want to talk with the broker. After some time one of the hire desks representatives agreed to talk with the broker and promised me to provide a car within 1hr, so I had to wait more time outside under +34 degrees heat. Regardless the reservation, a promise and my wasted 4hr waiting time, car never been provided!!!
Then suddenly hire desk offered me a top range car only available at this time at the station, obviously under their full insurance and 3 times higher price in addition to my initial reservation, consequently I have been forced to face a situation to take this car at 300£ higher price or leave..
PS :While I was waiting there about 20 more people been scammed in the exactly same way as me. Outrageous scam!!!

WORSE CAR RENTAL
Stuff was very useless (alfranz) She cancelled my booking straight away as my UK drivers license was less than a year old. However on their terms and conditions it says:
An International Driving Permit is required in addition to a National Driving Licence if the National Driving Licence you or any of the Additional Drivers hold is not clearly identifiable as a Driving Licence, e.g., it is in a non-Latin alphabet (e.g. Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, Japanese).
So i told the stuff i have another driver’s license i could use and show to her but she said they don’t accept it but it says otherwise on their terms and conditions mentioned above. I sent about what happened and asked for a refund cause i didn’t use their service and definitely caused me and my family a hassle but still not very helpful. So for those who want to book car rental on this company. I DON’t RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL. You’re wasting your money and the queue was very long. It took ages to be accommodated by one of their stuffs.

They advertise significant savings versus renting from the car rental firms directly.
I had one experience with them and it was NOT a good one.
My flight arrived 40 minutes early and I picked up the car a bit earlier than the time I expected.
They charged me an extra full day rental, approx $70.
I will never use them again.

I paid for a zero excess insurance, made an accident, and instead of paying the damage claimed by europcar of €3000, they decided to refund me $340.
In addition when placed the reservation they had said there was no cancellation fee and no hidden costs, but after payment they asked for 10% to cancel. I'm so sorry I didn't cancel at the time.
It's seems that we are going to meet in court.
HUGE SAVINGS
I usually do correct reviews, but I saw some negative reviews and wanted to share my experience. My first rental with C8 was on Maui a few years ago, just after covid. most cars were ridiculously priced, like three times the average rate. I searched everywhere, and it was well over $1000 a week. I found C8 and got a rate of around $400 out the door. I've used them 6-7 more times on Maui, Seattle, and Virginia and have found the best rate by far with them. They are like my little hidden gem. I've made changes and added days. They work with all the major car companies and broker cars, 3rd party at a reduced rate. Like pricline just for cars..I usually get Hertz, Dollar or one of the larger companies. Once you pick up the car, you pretty much become a Hertz customer or whoever you end up with.

I booked a car for 1 month in Italy. The initial transaction did not go through as my bank thought CarRental8 was a suspicious entity. I used another card and it went through. I received confirmation of the booking and everything was fine. The next morning I received a notice of cancellation of the booking by CarRental8. They reimbursed the USD amount, but I used a card in Canadian dollars and as a result I LOST over 100$... They are refusing to make me whole even though this was a cancellation decision they made on their own (even without contacting me first!). BE VERY CAREFUL!!!

they are totally not professional and the customer service is either not responding or not giving solution, i cancelled with them and booked with the car supplier supplier which saved me money despite their claimed cancellation fees, noting that i have chosen extra cancelation protection while booking but still they deducted money.
