Came in for an oil change & tire rotation. This shop over-torqued all the lug nuts on my vehicle during the tire rotation, resulting in a couple hundred dollars of stud replacement costs at the next tire rotation (verified issue with two shops).
Hello Ben, I’m sorry to hear about the wheel studs you needed to have replaced on your vehicle recently. We use a torque wrench to install wheels on all of our vehicles and this is one of the reasons why.
Unfortunately I don’t think our installation methods were the cause of your needed repair, more likely corrosion or rust was at play here from our beautiful San Diego beach air, but I would be happy to look at your vehicle and talk it over with you personally if you’d like.
Customer service is our top priority and I’d love the chance to make things right. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience you had with your wheel studs.

Coastal Auto Repair has been and will continue to be my go-to auto shop for regular maintenance on my 2018 Hyundai Kona. Ian and his team are professional, kind, honest, and go above and beyond to ensure all of your car needs are met. Most recently, I brought my Kona to the shop to have the brakes replaced. The estimated price came in far below what any other shop would have charged me. Additionally, we discovered that there was a larger problem with the engine. Ian took the time to reexamine the issue, send me recall information regarding engine issues with Hyundais, advised that a free replacement should be covered under Hyundai's warranty (it was), and was available to take additional questions while I was discussing the engine replacement process with a local dealership. This is absolutely unheard of. Ian and his team truly care about the people they serve and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a top-tier mechanic in San Diego.
