Back in July of 2024 I purchased a 2022 ********** Taos with a seemingly clean Carfax. My vehicle began showing problems immediately. I would be out driving to/from work and when I would stop at a traffic light, the dash would light up with a message that read " Engine Speed Max 3000 rpm" and then when I would go to take off, it felt like the vehicle was failing to switch gears, like it was trying to stall out. This causing me to have to pull over at least twice a day to restart my vehicle. So while both warranties were still active, and in hopes of finding the problem, I sent my vehicle back to manufacturer dealership. It's now January 2025 and I've had to drop my vehicle off three different times to be serviced for the same issue and all three times, not one identifiable problem. I have persistently voiced that I felt the vehicle was unsafe and needed the proper repairs before I began adapting the vehicle into my everyday schedule, and nothing has been done to actually fix the vehicle, so at this point all I can figure is that I've been taken advantage of because I'm a young woman with little mechanical knowledge. I've been given the run around for the past 6 month on what the issue is and to me it feels like they've been waiting on my warranty to expire in hopes of me having to pay instead of the warranty covering the cost of the issue with the vehicle. I've talked with multiple service managers Carmax. I was trying to get a straight answer and after having to resort to threatening to find an attorney, I was introduced to someone who said everything I wanted to hear. Claiming he personally would keep up with my car and keep in contact with me with every new update he had. His name is *** and hes the sales manager at Carmax. It's been almost two months since I've heard from this manager and nothing has been done to fix my vehicle under warranty.

Bought a vehicle they stated was on great condition. When I drove it off the lot, the vehicle began perking when I let off the gas pedal and when I had the brake applied. I returned the vehicle before their 10 day grace ******* When we did the return, they refused to refund the entire amount of the car that I paid them with a loan I refinanced with my credit union. They would only give me the down payment and trade in value. Now I am unable to get a car for at least 7-10 business days due to an outstanding loan. They only mail the total amount to the institution that purchased the loan. Now I won't be able to get to work or anywhere else I will need to. This place is a scam and I implore everyone not to shop there. Then when they go to refund me the down payment and trade in, they say that there system mysteriously went down. We have been sitting here for over an hour and a half while they are supposedly on a call with IT. Seems to me that I am being punished for returning their broken vehicle.

I bought a 2020 Jeep Cherokee from Carmax Wayne, NJ. The sales staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, when I looked the car over, it had a chip in the windshield on the driver's side, in the sweep of the wiper. I had to make an appointment to have someone look at it. I'm not sure why this required an appointment because it would only take a minute, but I scheduled it. They said it had been filled and that was protocol for a chip. I asked what would happen if it cracked, but they had no guarantee and would not replace the windshield. This was upsetting because a new windshield is over $1000 if it cracks more. I have 10 days to return the Jeep, and I am searching for a replacement now.

Terrible place. Sold us a lemon and did not release any information about the car to us. They changed codes just to sell and we have proof. Confronted car max and they refused to do anything. Will take this up with the Better Business Bureau.

Hello, Maam or Sir. ** seems that many businesses, such as this one is very discriminatory after sharing information. I guess all this business looks forward too many Caucasian drivers on the road as shown in pictures. I thank God that I have options to handle business at a distance and elsewhere. I ordered a white Jaguar to be shipped but I was not contacted and the two step authentication was not my idea for this app. I wouldnt want to buy from a company who doesnt want me to stay having a consistent income as well as job. I only work at ***************** at $10 an hour thanks to my boss ** *** who can only do so much just like me.

This was the BEST car buying experience I have EVER had. I did everything online went to the dealership and looked over the car. There were a few things that we noticed needed to be fix. I pointed those things out and they said they would take care of them. When I turned home I took the car the our ************* deal ship to have those fixed. ******** did note a few other things that needed to be taken care of. With no hesitation cCarmax paid for all repairs. This has been the best car buying experience I have EVER had when buying a used car.

Absolute nightmare, from the start noticed minor things wrong with the truck. Fast forward 3 weeks, truck hasnt been driven. $3150.00 later its drivable again. Carmax did hold up their end and pay the repairs, but darn. Fix the vehicles before they leave the shop!! Terrible customer service communication. 99/10 do NOT recommend. *bad coilpacks *16 bad spark plugs *tires were mismatched *broken side window *trans slip

I came to Carmax to get an estimate for my car and this was my first time experience. I was escorted to the waiting area and the young lady continued over to another employee to say, sorry to say youve got another customer. With a derogatory tone. I immediately felt like I was putting them out. She came out and spent all of three minutes with me and was done. She even had somebody there with her training them. Sad to say theyll probably be just as bad!

Absolute worst car buying experience ever. Terrible service!! I was going to purchase a Black Mercedes AMG from CarMax. I ran my own CARFAX report and is showed damage reported. CarMax uses (Auto Check) which did not report the damage. When the car arrive at the Buffalo Carmax it was Green…not black but GREEN. How can you inspect a car and not notice the color is wrong? Staff had no auto sales experience, likely first real job. Sales rep didn’t even try to sell the “green” Mercedes. Did not offer a road test, didn’t even allow me to start the car. Just said it’s nothing we can do after I paid $600 to ship the car and already got my financing done. Huge waste of time.

I picked a truck our on carmax they pre-approved me for a 604 payment, and 11% interest rate. I did all the paperwork and they came back with a *****% interest rate and a 986 a month payment. Carmax should not say one thing then do another. Not good business practice. Will not do business with them again.

I read online that CarMax provides the highest value for used cars. So I completed an online quote application. The quote came in and I took my car in for evaluation. Despite the report stating that everything was in good condition (except the rear tires), they changed their offer to $1200 less. They took $1,200 off of a $5,600 online offer despite a clean check up. Waste of time, and unethical business practices.

Billing and Customer service is atrocious. I had been a loyal CarMax customer for well over ten years. I have always loved the showroom sales persons, very personable. However, once the purchase is done, customer service, customer response is no longer a priority. I moved six months ago, went into my account, changed my address. The first invoice went to my old address, no biggie. The lack of return time from receiving and Late payment status was five days, (the usual is about 8 days, give or take). I went back into my account to ensure I had indeed changed my address and I had, so I also put the new address on the back of the payment slip, just to be sure.. I did the same for the next two invoices, in fact, After five times, continually sending it to the old address, six in a row. I am done. Yes, I could call while I am at work, but I rarely do personal business when I am at work, and I don't like to set a bad example for my employees. What I can't do, is send an email to CarMax when I get up in the morning at 4 am, because they have no billing email address. And don't ask me to set up autopayment, I will never see the invoices, and will not have the payments tracked properly, sans a once-a-month audit of my account. I do my accounting my way. Bottom line, I won't purchase from CarMax ever again, I will go straight to the dealers.

Irvine TX location led by sales manager Dylan are full of crud. The loan was approved, we spoke to sales manager Dylan and he said to make the drive and just come in to test drive the car and show ID. So we made the drive just to hear him say they were not gonna go through with the contract since they were afraid that if something was written wrong in The contract they were afraid that we would not be able to come back and correct the mistake which is crazy because as many contracts as they write, you figure they had the experience to get it right. This was a punch in the gut. Just because my son is military and was gonna head back to Camp Pendleton. This is how they treat the military. No special treatment was expected but for sure we were not expecting to hear him say they thought the credit was approved, they were not gonna go through with it. Wow!!! That is pretty messed up. These are the people that need to go when Trump takes Office. We will make sure to put this information out.

Bought a truck at Carmax. It all went fine and I have my truck. It is what I expected and I am happy. I got an email from Carmax telling me to register with GM so that I will be updated with any recalls or issues on my truck that I need to know about. I went to all the trouble of going to the website to register my truck with GM. It did not go well. I found out that I can't register my truck unless I get OnStar. So this email really is a scam to get more money and I am sure that CarMax gets a portion of that money. I am not happy with CarMax for trying to scam me into getting OnStar. If I could I would rip out that button on my truck.

I have called CarMax on December 21 because I discovered I was never given the key for my lug nut locks. I had a flat tire and couldn't change the tire. I was told I would be called back within 24 hours, but wasn't. I called again on the 22nd and 23rd. On the 23rd I did get a call back, but only to be told to expect another call. I never got it. I called again on the 25th and 26th, yesterday (the 28th) I finally had my car towed to a garage for them to cut off the lug nut locks. I am curious how my car passed the complete inspection without the lug nut keys. It is also kind of ridiculous that CarMax left me without a car for over a week so far.

Do NOT finance your vehicle with Carmax if you buy their car. If you try to make a principal payment, they will take interest out of the principal payment. It’s as if they don’t know what principal payments are for nowadays. I bought a 2019 Honda Pilot Touring and they took interest out of the principal payment. They tried to explain it that they do principal and payments differently. Use other banks if you are going to finance a car from Carmax. As a matter of fact, if they see you’re not going to use their financing, they will say that you need to put down more money. So in short, don’t get a car from Carmax.

I went to Carmax to trade in my car and received an quote from them for my vehicle that I accepted and I paid to have another vehicle transported to the Pleasanton Carmax for purchase. The quote was good for 7 days but I needed my car for a few days and waited until Day 7 to sell back the car. Unfortunately, because I do not drive in the dark due to vision problems, when I tried to make an appointment day 7 - it was after sunset and I hesitated to go there. I called 3 times and verified that there should be no problem to come the following day in the morning. When I got there, they told me my previous quote had been removed from their system and that the car would need to be inspected again for a new quote. Nothing new was wrong with the car (there were pain imperfections that were noted on the prior inspection and accounted for). I had driven the car less than 30 miles in the ensuing week. No accidents or any new damage was present. However, the new price for trade-in was $1000 less than I had been quoted the week before. Nobody there could tell me why. Even though I was very upset I was sick of dealing with the car and sold it back to them for the $1000 less than what was initially quoted to me 12 hours after the quote had expired. They kept me waiting there for 4 hours. I refused to buy the cart That I had paid to ship to that Carmax. This is a consumer bait and switch which should be against the law. I will never do business with Carmax again.
