Had a great lunch here. Love the open-air, breezy set-up on a good weather day.
Ordered the Spicy Potato Nems, Attiéké Bowl, Mafe, & a fresh ginger juice. All hits.
!!The Senegalese hot sauce was excellent. SPICY & full of flavor. I wanted to put it on everything.
My first time having mafe, and it did not disappoint! Hearty beef stew in a delicious peanut butter sauce. Great portion size, too.
Service was laid-back in a good way. The vibes feel relaxed. The kind of place that makes you want to come back with friends, have a drink, and try the rest of the menu.
My experience at Cafe Rue Dix was incredibly disappointing. We had a 7:30 reservation and arrived on time, only to be given limited seating options and then asked to move mid-meal to accommodate another party. It felt disorganized and inconsiderate. During the shuffle, our food was mistakenly delivered to another table, and by that point, I’d had enough and asked for everything to be packed to go. To make matters worse, part of the meal (the rice) was missing when I got home. The service throughout was unfriendly, which only added to the frustration. Not an experience I’d repeat.
I’ve been wanting to try Cafe Rue Dix for a a while. This was my first time there. Decor was chic, thoughtful and minimal. Our server was kind and attentive. I was hoping to order their baobab juice, but they sold out. Their Thiebou Jen was suuuuper yummy, hardy and is especially perfect comfort for this freezing NYC weather. Would absolutely return.
