I truly believe in supporting local businesses and have come to Cabana for years, even their Manhattan location when it was open, but sadly can no longer do so due to the lack of professionalism and unacceptable customer service.
I called and scheduled a lunch for a party of 7 at 12 noon on a Sunday as I was unable to do it online. The first time I called I was placed on hold. The person clearly forgot I was on the phone as I heard them take orders and engage in casual conversation with others for several minutes. I called back and was able to schedule it and was rushed off the phone. When we arrived, we were informed the restaurant would not be open until 1pm. I explained I made a reservation and was never notified of this change. I was met with a blank look and no apologies. Some members of our group were from out of town and had plans later that could not be changed so pushing our lunch time back 1 hour was not an option. Also, it was raining heavily, cold and we had an elderly person in the group so we couldn't really just walk around the area. Luckily, we were able to go next door to Aged and were quickly accomodated. Take your business where you are appreciated and valued as a person and customer.

We are from Delaware but we have a friend that lives in the neighborhood and every time that we come to visit with her we always have either lunch or dinner there and we have never been disappointed. I highly recommend it.
Seafood appetizer is fresh, the salmon is great, it is tender and soft with the coconut rice. The salad portion is big.
Great service
Absolutely delicious! We had the churrasco steak with grilled onions, juicy shrimp in garlic sauce, crispy tostones and arroz con gandules - everything was fresh, flavorful and perfectly cooked. Generous portions, authentic Latin seasoning
This is a very busy restaurant, but they are efficient and we did not need to wait long for a table. The decor is nice. Large paper palm trees in the corners and an assortment of masks on the walls.
The menu looks great for non-vegetarians. Not so great for vegetarians. The paella especially looked good. One of the members in our party had chicken and shrimp. The presentation looked impressive.
Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience, especially because of the way my group was treated by the staff.
We were a group of six sitting outside, and we fit comfortably at our table. We came primarily for drinks and a few appetizers before heading to a concert in Forest Hills. We did have two additional people planning to meet us later, and we simply asked if, when they arrived, we could pull up a chair without taking up another table or disrupting the space. We were immediately told that this was not possible.
The bigger issue, however, was the way the situation was handled. We were speaking Spanish among ourselves when one of the waitresses said to another waiter, in Spanish, “I need to speak to someone who knows how to speak Spanish.” She said this assuming we didn’t understand her. I speak perfectly fine Spanish, so I understood exactly what she said.
It was extremely disrespectful and came across as condescending. We are a group of Latino people who speak both Spanish and English, and there was absolutely no reason to make comments like that. Throughout the night, we were asked probably 5–6 times whether we spoke English or Spanish, which I found incredibly odd. I’ve genuinely never experienced being repeatedly questioned by restaurant staff about what language I speak. There were also comments such as, “She doesn’t understand what I’m saying,” which made my entire group uncomfortable.
We tried to make the best of the situation and even compromised by moving from the outdoor seating we originally wanted to the very back of the restaurant inside. Unfortunately, the uncomfortable interactions continued, and it felt like we were being treated differently simply because we were a larger group and speaking Spanish.
To top it off, when I asked for the check, the waiter looked at me and said, “That’s it? You guys aren’t going to eat food?” I explained that we had come specifically for drinks and appetizers. The comment felt unnecessary and judgmental, especially considering we were already made to feel uncomfortable throughout the evening.
And honestly, the appetizers weren’t even good enough to make up for the experience.
We should have left when the first interaction happened, but we decided to stay and try to enjoy our night. Unfortunately, the service from two separate waiters was consistently disrespectful and condescending. I would not recommend this restaurant, especially for larger groups or anyone who expects to be treated respectfully regardless of what language they speak. I definitely would not return.
Very overpriced, food doesn’t taste good. Ordered 3 main and one large drinks to share, it was after $250 including tip. Beef was very chewy and unseasoned, seafood was also overcooked and bland. Def not coming back. Big disappointment
I had a very bad experience at this restaurant, starting with the waitress's service. Secondly, the dinner was terrible; we ordered two types of chicken, and both were awful—one was completely bland and lacked even salt, while the other just had sauce poured over it. Also, they placed the empanadas right on top of the sauce without checking if the customer actually wanted it there; I think that’s wrong. I definitely didn't like anything about it and didn't enjoy the meal at all.
It's been a really long time since I've been to a Cabana. The staff was awesome and the food was delicious. My girl and I both got the Ropa Vieja which was just like my grandmas.
This location for Cuban food is outstanding. My wife and I used to go to the old location at N.Y Seaport. Downtown Manhattan. Unfortunately that location no longer exists. The Blessing of all this is that we still have this location in Queens. The food is always fresh, and the amount is sufficient. Service is outstanding. The waiters are always smiling and are a great help with suggestions on plates. The atmosphere is lay back and the mood is relaxing. For a great time with family or friends give this location a chance. You won't be disappointed. Note: parking around the area is quite difficult. Please take a Uber or taxi service if possible. On the other hand for ladies who get cold quite easily take a light sweater or jacket. Buen Appetit.
The quality of their beef is was really poor. You could not cut it with a steak knife. I never had to send anything back before, this was the first time. Others from our table who ordered the steak had similar issues. Unacceptable.
Everything is great here! Especially the empanadas!!!!
