We had a lovely one-week yoga retreat at Blue Osa resort. The location was perfect… The yoga studio was very soothing, clean, airy, nested in nature, across the beach, surrounded by the sound of birds, monkeys and the ocean. staff were very caring, attentive, friendly and always with a big smile that complemented our goals. The food was healthy and tasty and staff were very attentive to the different nutrition restrictions of the guests. Happy to have experienced Costa Rica in these surroundings.
Everything as promised as in all the previous reviews, will look forward to returning at some point.
I brought a group to Blue Osa for a yoga retreat in early January 2026. This was my third time at Blue Osa -- and the second time I brought a group. For both of my group retreats, I booked the entire resort.
I am in love with Blue Osa -- everything is stunningly beautiful and magical, but also so professionally managed. It feels like home in the best way.
Henry, Yela and Alex in particular have made my experiences easeful and joyful. As a retreat leader, I delighted in their high organization and perfect communication. It has made my job as a facilitator so much easier.
The curated excursions are top-notch. The food is terrific - well prepared, fresh and healthy.
Visits to their spa are a highlight - with well-trained therapists.
All-in-all - just a fabulous experience. For yoga retreat leaders, prepare to book early for the best dates.
On a scale of 1-10, I would rate Blue Osa at an 11.
We had an incredible stay at Blue Osa. Our entire experience there, from our communications with the INCREDIBLY helpful team, to the beautiful grounds, lovely room, amazing food, and gorgeous waterfront location... can you tell we loved it!? Waking up to the sounds of dozens of species of birds and the calls of howler monkeys is something we'll never forget. And eating together at the communal tables along with the other guests fostered a sense of connection and community that's all too rare in this increasingly disconnected era. We highly recommend a visit to Blue Osa!
I recently co-led a retreat at Blue Osa with 27 guests, and I can say without hesitation that it was the most easeful retreat I’ve ever run. My guests were genuinely happy from the moment we arrived, and that feeling held steady all week. The setting does a lot of the work for you. Jungle, ocean, quiet, and a sense that everything has been thought through so you can settle in and be present.
Beyond the gorgeous accommodations, what made the experience exceptional was the staff. Henry and Alex are absolute pros. They’re warm, attentive, and completely on top of logistics. I felt supported every step of the way, which let me focus on my guests and the work we were there to do. The rest of the team was just as thoughtful and kind. You can tell this is a place where people care.
And the food. Consistently nourishing, beautifully prepared, and deeply supportive of retreat life. If you’re thinking about hosting a retreat at Blue Osa, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a rare place where your guests feel held and you, as the leader, can breathe.
Had a wonderful one week yoga retreat at Blue Osa. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and amazing and the location was beautiful and comfortable. Every morning I had my coffee on the beach, watching the sunrise. Every afternoon I walked along the beach and cooled off in the swimming pool. The spa services were excellent. I highly recommend the whole experience.
The people, property and energy of Blue Osa were the perfect trifecta of nourishment and reset I needed.
The food was delicious but clean - I struggle when I travel to find food that isn’t processed or similar to how I eat at home.
The ocean is so close to the property you can hear it! And of course see it!
I spent an incredible week by myself at Blue Osa in November. I was in need of a mental and physical reset, and I couldn't have found a better place to do it. The resort is beautiful! The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable, and you wake up to the sounds of the jungle. The morning quiet hours helped me start each day feeling grounded and present. The excursions were well organized and easy. And the FOOD! So simple and delicious. The staff -- particularly Yela and Henry -- were so helpful. OH, and the spa!! Such great treatments, professional staff, beautiful environment. The value for my money was significant. If you have the chance to go to this remarkable place, do it!
I recently completed my Yoga Teacher Training at Blue Osa, and it exceeded all my expectations. This place is truly special.
Service: Henry and Alex were incredibly helpful throughout my stay, always going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Their warmth and attentiveness made us feel genuinely cared for.
Cleanliness: The attention to detail was impressive. Rooms were cleaned daily, and the cleaning staff were not only thorough but also respectful. Everything from the yoga spaces to the common areas was impeccably maintained.
Location: Blue Osa's setting is absolutely magical. Nestled between the jungle and a pristine beach, it offers the perfect balance of natural beauty and tranquillity. The quiet atmosphere creates an ideal environment for deep practice and self-reflection. Waking up to the sounds of the jungle and ocean was transformative in itself.
YTT Experience: Yogi Aaron is knowledgeable and, more importantly, an amazing human being. His teaching style and genuine care for students made the training both profound and accessible.
If you're considering Blue Osa for your YTT or stay, don't hesitate. This place will stay with you long after you leave.
TLDR: beautiful and serene resort with delicious food and the friendliest staff.
Location: The resort is located about 25 min from the Puerto Jimenez (the closest "city") airport and is right on the beach.
Grounds: Lush gardens that you can sit and stare at for hours, beautiful pool, yoga studio with an awesome view, comfortable seating all over the property
Food: delicious, healthy and simple meals that leaves you feeling satisfied and not heavy
Staff: I can't say enough about everyone who works to keep Blue Osa humming. Everyone is incredibly nice, and not just because they work there and it's their job, but genuinely nice. This includes the resident pup and kitty, Charlotte and Thunder.
I missed the quietness the very next day and continue to think about it and how I can recreate parts of it now that I am back home.
I went for the 200 hour YTT in May 2025. Overall a truly amazing and unforgettable experience for a YTT! A few of the main reasons I chose Blue Osa besides the yoga was because it was one of the only resorts I could find that is right on the beach, it's affordable, I had the opportunity to surf, the property is gorgeous and there are dogs on the property. Those were some major selling points for me.
The staff and group of students that were there made the stay very memorable. The meditations, silent times, lectures, classes and discussions helped me to grow and learn more not only about yoga but especially myself. I learned to appreciate the silence more after I came home. There were 2 teaching assistants there that did the morning meditations and helped Yogi Aaron throughout the training.
All of Yogi Aaron's classes were very intentional and powerful, some of the best yoga classes of my life so far. Yogi Aaron is very knowledgeable and will challenge you to think and see things differently. Tons of content and info on his website, I especially enjoyed learning about his AYAMA method, very helpful and practical for all ages/abilities.
The YTT days were long but I loved how it was structured because there was a gap in the day that allowed you to either do homework or enjoy the property. I was able to rent a surfboard there with a couple of other people from Encanta La Vida for 10 days, they dropped off the boards and picked them up (message on whats app for quick response; make sure you take pics of the boards, they tried to charge us extra for a ding that was clearly there when we got it; also don't be afraid to negotiate a fair price). I got the longest wave of my life so far right in front of the resort. There is a rocky reef right in front of the resort but if you walked far enough down to the left it was sandy.
The unlimited smoothie package was also amazing and the meals were all so fresh and delicious. The animals, lush vegetation and view from the yoga studio was dreamy and unforgettable. The pool was a huge added bonus along with the opportunity to get an amazing massage!
Weather: I was worried about the rain however it was mostly sunny all day then the rain would pour at night. You don't need a rain jacket, just an umbrella is helpful.
Side note: A solo traveler came to the resort and she was the only other guest besides the YTT students. It didn't seem to bother her at all but if I were her I would have felt out of place.
I stayed for two weeks at Blue Osa and completed the 200-hour YTT with Yogi Aaron there. The venue is simply magical, built with so much thought, care, and attention to detail. I loved the early mornings in the garden, observing the wildlife and listening to the ocean. The food, the staff, and the care of the entire team were outstanding. And the teacher training itself — it truly transformed the way I see life. I can only highly recommend this experience.
Blue Osa is the perfect location and venue for a yoga retreat and communing with nature. Wake up each morning to the sounds of nature. Howler monkeys, macaws and toucans greet you to the jungle as they celebrate sunrise.
The staff is friendly and professional and goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.
Super endroit pour une retraite de yoga tout est magnifique une grande paix vous entoure car vous êtes entre le pacifique et la forêt Pura Vida

Thank you so much for your review Marie. We can't wait to welcome you back to our slice piece of paradise.
I brought a small group for a yoga retreat. Blue Osa exceeded expectations in all the important ways. We loved the location, the grounds, the rooms, the food and the staff. Practicing in the shala overlooking the garden and ocean with the waves as music was magical. As the retreat leader I am grateful for all the help when I was planning and has many questions! Communication was great through the entire experience. Mucha gracias!
They cut and replant to make everything look perfect, but it's all ecological damage, not to mention the wall they built on the beach and they don't take responsibility for the waste they're generating.
