The Blackhawk's Trail Lodge is a gem, an oasis of peace and beauty and artistic flair. The rooms are quite comfortable and nicely decorated. But it is the porch and deck that are the draws, eccentrically and artistically adorned with comfortable furniture and sitting areas. I also took advantage of the river to launch my kayak for a morning of fishing on the Rock River. It is a short, pretty drive to Byron with good restaurants and bars. Becky and Don are incredibly welcoming hosts.
Absolutely the best hotel stay I have ever had, not kidding. Love the location, and I am from the area, but I will be back because it is so peaceful. Becky and D were superb hosts, I enjoyed sitting by the fire on the porch talking to them. The bed was the most comfortable memory foam I have ever slept in. I spent hours by the water crocheting, it was heaven. (Friday and Okra were excellent treat inspectors) What a hidden gem, I cannot wait to return ❤️❤️❤️
My husband & I spent a few days at Blackhawk's Trail Lodge this spring. What a wonderful little get-away! The rooms are adorable and impeccably clean, decorated with antiques and lots of lovely little touches. The best part was the huge deck, partially enclosed and partially open air. Tons of comfortable seating, including a hanging bed (!!), with beautiful flowers and plants, hummingbirds zipping by, whimsical statues and decorations, a bubbling fountain, and a large variety of birds coming in to the feeders. The owners Dee and Becky treated us like family. We were able to kick back with good books and watch the river go by. When we wanted a little more activity and a meal out, Rockford was a quick 20 minute drive. We are already planning another visit.

My husband and I spent a few days at Blackhawk's Trail Lodge this spring: what a wonderful little get-away! The rooms are adorably decorated with beautiful little touches; each one is different. They were impeccably clean. But the best part was the huge deck over-looking the Rock River. Tons of comfortable seating, beautiful flowers, a lovely bubbling water fountain, hummingbirds and a great variety of birds coming in to the bird feeders. SO lovely to kick back and relax while watching the river go by. The owners Dee and Becky could not have been more hospitable, and made us feel like old friends. And when we felt like a little more activity or going out to eat, Rockford was an easy 20 minute drive. We are already planning a return trip.
I planned a mid-week 3 day trip for 5 couples to meet and it was spectacular! Becky and Dee make you feel like family. It is a unique laid back lodge yet the facility has some thoughtful amenities like multiple areas decorated for lounging and socializing and high quality shower products. I was especially impressed with items like hand made soap and tomatillo sauce created specifically for the lodge. We enjoyed it so much we reserved the space again in August 2023. Owners are so friendly and accommodating. They provide everything you need. Beautiful location on the Rock River.
