Highly Recommend! We boarded our 4 month old puppy Penny with Best Dog Training Academy for two weeks. In evaluating several training options, I spoke with Whitney, who explained their training philosophy and answered all my questions thoroughly. We liked that Penny would stay in a family environment with trainer Corey, and his dog during her stay. The socialization was great for Penny. We loved getting several text updates, photos, and videos of her progress each week. Penny learned a lot in her foundational training, and the videos Whitney and Corey sent helped us understand what she was learning and how to continue to reinforce it. The follow-up training session at our home a month after Penny’s initial training helped us fine tune our training skills and continue to apply the approach at our house. Corey also answered several text questions about how to address some behavioral challenges in the following weeks. We’ll continue to use Best Dog Training to board Penny and refresh her training. We love the personal attention and that Corey practically considers her part of his family!
We recently had our Malinois, Juno, trained by Corey and Whitney for 3 weeks, and the transformation has been incredible! Before training, Juno’s reactivity to other dogs (including our own), scooters, bikes, and pretty much anything that moved made walks stressful and nearly impossible. She also had issues with jumping, chewing, and general high-energy chaos that we just couldn’t manage (if you’re familiar with the Malinois breed, you understand).
Corey and Whitney worked closely with us before the training to understand our needs, kept in touch with regular videos and updates throughout, and have continued to check in afterward. They trained Juno with a mini educator e-collar, and the results have been amazing—she now walks calmly and focused, listens to commands like sit, stay, here, and free, and we’re able to correct her gently when needed.
Most importantly, we can actually enjoy our time with her now. The stress has been replaced by confidence and joy in having such a well-trained dog. We’re so grateful to Corey and Whitney for their skill, communication, and genuine care for Juno.
Highly recommend the Best Dog Academy!
My Brandie has had some serious separation anxiety and was very dog reactive, but after a few weeks with Mara she was so much more comfortable with being away from me and we’ve seen HUGE strides with her being around other dogs. Still some work to be done but Mara gave us a wonderful platform to work on.
Whitney’s work along with her fellow trainers has changed our lives dramatically. Prior to Carmy’s training he was extremely reactive and we had no control over his behavior. We couldn’t take him anywhere due to being unable to control him, we were even scared to have people over to our home knowing Carmy was going to be so overstimulated that he’d just bark and jump on people continuously.
After spending two weeks with Whitney we now can incorporate Carmy into our family life how we had always envisioned! We have done outings to the park, where Carmy was able to focus on us and be around children playing and even other dogs in the distance. We’ve also done a beach trip where there was a lot of stimulation and Carmy was so well behaved we had an enjoyable family day shopping and playing on the beach. We have had company over and they are all in such shock what a different dog Carmy is. Now our family and friends can also enjoy Carmy and get to know him without him being out of control.
Whitney is so patient and truly cares about the dogs in her care. She was very communicative during his stay with her sending frequent updates. We have had several people ask for her info seeing what an amazing job she did with our sweet Carmy. We are so thankful and appreciative of her, her expertise, and skills. We now have the tools we need and a great foundation to be able to really enjoy Carmy the way we had envisioned when we decided to add him to our family. We couldn’t be happier that we chose Whitney’s program!!
After reading a lot of excellent reviews, I chose Best Dog Training in Sherwood, OR. I had no idea how great it was going to be. I sent my dog who is a 1 year old midsize Labradoodle to board her and get some training for her.
I love that it was is Board and Train and done at someone's home.
Lucy was treated like one of their own, including playing with their children and spending some time in their home. She was there for two weeks and when he brought her home, she was a different dog in that she followed all the commands. He showed me what she had been taught and she was her happy self. I had one dog walker who had quit walking her for me because she couldn't control Lucy and it was affecting her shoulder. When Lucy came back from training, Corey came to my house to train me on how he had trained Lucy. He encouraged me to invite any friends over who were around her alot and in my case, walked her for me also. I had four different people walking her at different times and they were all very impressed at her progress and how well behaved she had become. She wasn't a bad girl before, she just had no manners and was a little out of control. She would pull and jump on other people when out for a walk when they wanted to say hello to her. When Corey brought her home, he showed me all the commands that he taught her and she did them great. He individually showed everyone (Who walked her for me) how to walk her and give her some commands that would apply to their walking her. Corey is going to check back in with me at home and see how we're doing With Lucy. He also said to call him anytime if I had any questions and gave me a printout of her commands and other information during the time he had her. He would send me photos and give me updates. After seeing the change in here, the lady who quit walking her, wanted to start walking her again. I highly recommend Best Dog Board and Train in Sherwood Oregon and Corey was awesome!

Wow thank you Rebecca! Lucy was such a joy to train!
Whitney is truly the BEST!! We took Gus to her when he was a puppy to get a great foundation. When it was time for a tune up, as Gus had become reactive, we didn’t hesitate to return to Whitney. He was with her for two weeks of training and a week of boarding. When Gus returned home he was so responsive. He was much calmer towards strangers in public settings and towards people coming in and out of our home during our remodel.
Whitney has also been AMAZING in training Gus’ people. She has taught our entire family how to continue his training. I feel confident with my children taking him on walks in the neighborhood or to play ball in the field. Gus responds well to their direction as well. We are so thankful for Whitney and the Best Dog Training Academy! I would highly recommend Whitney and her team!!

Aw thank you so much! We love Gus!
I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the training that I received from Whitney for my 2 1/2-year-old Shepherd. We
needed tons of support around walks on the leash with other dogs, as Archie was hyper aroused. After learning skills and having Whitney walk me through various techniques, I can say that Archie and I now are
able to walk past other dogs and enjoy hikes and walks on the trail. Thank you for building my confidence. My partner and I have a better quality of life and experience with our pup!

Archie was so much fun to work with!
Truly remarkable! Not only did they teach an old dog new tricks, but provided us with video updates and progress reports for the duration of our boy’s stay! We loved seeing the developments while we were away from home!
We were at our wits end and had nearly given up on training in general. We thought we had exhausted our options. From behavioral training to sit downs where we discussed exactly what commands to say to working on adherence etc. Between my wife and I, both tried different things, and both got nowhere. We ended up making things worse and not better. We were considering training camps when my wife came across their services. We elected to do a trial meet and greet session, and that quickly evolved into us deciding to board our dog with them for a week while away.
We boarded our dog and Mrs. Martin took the initiative to work with and train our dog Jasper (9 years old). She took it upon herself to give extra attention and training. Which was a truly compassionate and generous gesture.
He was introduced to a new training method and language. The training collar and stimulus made an astronomical difference. Jasper’s attentiveness and response to commands is on a different level. It’s hard to describe how amazed and grateful we are!
Another blessing, the commands and structure is simple. Making adherence and maintaining easy. There isn’t a litany of things to remember. With a 1 1/2 year old at home, new parents, and easy to manage training regiment for our dog, reintroducing our family pet to our little one is already rewarding us.
Prior to his stay, Jasper was showing signs of dominance and minor aggression towards our baby. We were really worried about the interactions between them, and felt horrible and torn between the two. We wanted desperately to give both a good home, and we’re at a point where we considered a better home for jasper would be one without us.
We didn’t know how to manage his behavior or how to foster integrating our dog with our child. Neither of us wanted to have to give him up for our daughter or his sake. After this brief week long stay, already the difference in their interactions has removed any worry and doubt.
I can honestly say I am grateful beyond words. I simply cannot recommend giving this training a shot. If you were like me, and believed you were at the end of the rope with behavioral training, and that nothing was working out, I urge you to give them a call, try out a few sessions, and give the training collar a go. It’s money well spent with a team who genuinely love dogs, and who work hard to get your furry family member on pace with a program that works. I wish I knew about them sooner, we would have been spared lots more money, and stress.
5 stars is still a few stars too short. I’m so incredibly thankful.

Wow! This is such a high compliment! We loved working with Jasper and your family!
I’m so grateful I found Best Dog! I spent months trying to find someone that I aligned with and trusted with my 11 month old pup. Nothing felt right until I met Whitney.
She helped guide me in places I was uncertain and taught me how to properly utilize the tools that were the best fit for my dog. The support she has given me has allowed me to grow in confidence and technique when it comes to addressing concerns with my pup’s behavior. Puberty is hard haha. I can say though that he has made exponential growth since consistently applying what we worked on in our session at Best Dog.
When I need to go out of town without my pup I will also be utilizing her board and train services. I have lost a dog when in someone else’s care before so it is not something I trust easily with. I know that in her care, his training that I have put my all into will not only be maintained but improved and that she will make the right choices to keep my dog safe both mentally and physically. During our meet and greet she did a little work with my pup to feel him out when I was vetting her. I was of course also reading my dog when she had his leash to evaluate how he was responding to her. We had just played for an hour at a SniffSpot and had a quick weigh in stop at the vet prior to this meeting though as I didn’t expect them to really work him. Rather than “show off” to prove her skills to get hired, she recognized my pup was overstimulated quickly and needed a break instead. This was huge for me as it showed me that not only was she listening to my dog’s needs but that she was going to choose my dog’s wellness first.
She seems to always be looking to improve herself as a trainer and gain new knowledge too. Due to this she is able to evaluate each cases unique needs rather than just have a catch all approach which I find extremely valuable.
Thank you Whitney!

Aww this is so lovely to read. Thank you so much! I am happy we were able to help set you guys up for success!
We have loved working with Best Dog and Whitney! The training improvements for our dog Enzo have been extremely helpful, and he seems to enjoy going through his training sessions. During overnight stays, we get photos and videos showing things they are working on as well as updates on how Enzo is doing being away. They really do a great job at easing our mind with leaving our dog overnight for extended periods. We look forward to continuing to work with Best Dog and their team!

We love Enzo! Thank you so much!
We’ve had a fantastic experience with Best Dog Training Academy! Our one-year-old Brittany Spaniel, Teddy, has made tremendous progress thanks to the expert guidance of our trainer, Whitney.
Teddy used to pull relentlessly on the leash, making walks frustrating—but Whitney completely turned that around. She now walks calmly by our side, and the change has been remarkable. Beyond that, she’s also become significantly more well-behaved at home, showing more impulse control and responsiveness.
Whitney’s approach is thoughtful, patient, and incredibly effective. She clearly understands canine behavior and tailors her training to what each dog (and owner!) needs. We couldn’t be happier with the results, and we highly recommend Best Dog Training Academy to anyone looking for real results and a positive training experience.

Wow! Thank you so much! We love Teddy!
Our pit mix had become really reactive toward other dogs and some people, especially on walks. We were nervous taking him out in public, and honestly didn’t know where to turn. A friend referred us to Best Dog Training Academy, and from the first conversation with Whitney, we felt hopeful.
She completely understood the issues we were dealing with and had a calm, confident approach that immediately put us at ease. We signed up for the Board & Train program, and it was worth every penny. Our dog came back with a totally different mindset — still the sweet dog we love, but now able to stay calm, listen to commands, and focus even around distractions.
The training didn’t just change his behavior — it changed our daily lives. Walks are no longer stressful, and we finally feel confident again. Whitney was amazing with communication and gave us the tools to keep it going at home.
If you’re struggling with a reactive dog, don’t wait. This program truly works.

Thank you! The pleasure is all ours! ☺️
Truly life-changing for us and our dog.
I came to Best Dog Training Academy feeling overwhelmed and honestly a little hopeless. Our 3-year-old German Shepherd had become increasingly reactive toward other dogs and strangers, and I was constantly on edge anytime we took him outside.
Whitney was incredibly knowledgeable and patient from day one. She took the time to understand our dog’s triggers and helped build a plan that actually worked — not just temporary fixes. Her balanced approach made a huge difference, and I finally felt like someone truly understood how to work with a strong, smart, and sometimes stubborn dog.
The progress we’ve made has been unbelievable. Walks are no longer stressful, and he can now focus around distractions without lunging or barking. We’ve even had calm greetings with other dogs, something I never thought possible a few months ago.
I highly recommend this program to anyone dealing with aggression or reactivity. Whitney gave us the tools, confidence, and support we needed — and I can’t thank her enough.

Thank you! Sheppy was so fun to work with!
Before Whitney, Lola (pure bread German Shepard) was highly reactive, couldn’t be left alone, and high anxiety. Walking her around the block was nearly impossible for us as adults and was a no-go for our kids.
We enrolled Lola in a two-week board and train, with the goal of being able to take her to baseball games with us. While that felt like a long shot, Whitney took the challenge on and didn’t scoff at the idea.
We got daily updates on how Lola was doing, how she was taking to the training, acknowledgment that she was super stubborn (which made us feel like we weren’t horrible dog parents), tips for the future, etc.
When she came home, she was a different dog. Whitney sets you up for success and it’s up to you to follow through with the tools she gives you. Lola just spent a week back for a tune up and once again her habits that were slipping are back in place.
Whitney’s experience and tips for reactivity have been spot on and have helped us manage Lola and balance her anxiety without medicating her.
Whitney also loves your dog, I trust that she is training them like they are hers and keeps them safe and in the best mental space for them. She is truly the only person I would trust Lola with.
Ps: Lola has made it to baseball practice and we will venture to at least one game this year.

Lola is the best! Thank you!
I can’t say enough great things about Whitney and her dog training program! She has an incredible amount of patience and a true love for animals, which really shows in her work. My Australian Labradoodle puppy is like a completely different dog after working with her. She’s now more obedient, less reactive, and our walks have become so much more enjoyable because she knows how to heel. I’ve also noticed she’s much more polite in general. Whitney’s guidance has made such a positive impact on both my pup and me. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate trainer.

Wow thank you Blanca! Phoebe was such a pleasure to have in class! I’m so happy she learned so much with us!
Whitney with Om Dog Club has done such amazing work getting our 2 year old Dalmatian to be a cordial and less reactionary dog when we go on walks. Before his training with Whitney, Arlo would pull and jerk on the leash to go wherever his focus was. The few word commands we had taught him didn’t work when we’d try to get him under control, which made us feel like taking him for walks was more a chore than an enjoyable pastime. We love that Whitney got to know Arlo, working with him at his level and not pushing him to do more than he was willing to give. She was very considerate and mindful when working with Arlo, and taught him within 4 weeks how to walk without pulling or reacting much to other dogs. She taught us how to redirect when he would look like he would start reacting to another dog or go in a direction we weren’t guiding him. She also is incredibly knowledgeable and explained the workings of a dog’s mind to help us understand why they behave the way they do. We will be returning to Om Dog Club for any further training we find we need. Arlo loved working with Whitney and we are so happy with the results she was able to produce.
