Caroline at BePractical is amazing. She’s a great teacher and mentor and is truly passionate about getting women into trades.
The partnership between BePractical and BuildHers is going to be incredible and I can’t wait to collaborate and see where we can go together, and what real changes we can make to the industry.
bePractical DIY is an excellent place to learn. Just done another brilliant class where you learn so many tips and tricks alongside the obvious ‘how to do this’ stuff. Caroline is a great teacher, encouraging and inspiring. I used to be terrified of power tools, but I cut that circle with a jigsaw!
These courses really exceeded my expectations. I did Nailing it and DIY Next Steps. My intention was just to get enough knowledge to be able to do small DIY jobs around the house but I now have the confidence to potentially tackle bigger DIY jobs in the future. Caroline is really down to earth, approachable and experienced and clearly cares about what she does. I feel incredibly empowered, especially as there is ongoing support if needed. I am planning to do more courses in the future.
What an amazing few weeks. So empowering. Caroline is so knowledgable and highly skilled with the ability to explain things in a way that is fully inclusive and confidence building. Every women, young, old or in between should have the chance to learn these skills it is so enabling!
I am going to book myself and my daughter on a days course.
Great diy classes, Caroline is knowledgeable and hilarious in her delivery of the classes. The small groups allow for each attendee to recieve adequate attention so you'll never be left scrambling for help. I've attended 2 classes so for and I look forward to booking more. Highly recommend.
Also very convenient for those wanting to learn diy without having to commit to applying for weeks long coarses or apprenticeships.
I cannot recommend doing a course with bePractical highly enough! Today I completed a a half day 'Nailing It' session and feel so informed and empowered to buy the correct tools I need and get started on my home improvements! Caroline is so so lovely, knowledgeable and encouraging.

This was such a great experience - did a course over one day and learnt so much and built confidence to get stuck into DIY! Caroline is great - gave loads of practical tips, advice, a chance to get hands on and get questions answered. It’s a lovely place too. Have recommended to friends already and will come back to do more!

I really enjoyed the sealant course. Caroline is a great teacher and we had a talk first on different types of sealant, the best brand to use, how to operate the "gun" etc., then we got going on the practical side. With Caroline's clear instruction and supervision, it proved easier to do than I expected. We were taught to remove the old sealant first, then to apply the new. We were given some tips on how to ensure the the sealant had a smooth finish and how to rectify any flaws in good time before the sealant dried. I now feel fully confident to have a go at replacing my bathroom sealant. Also hoping to utilise this new skill in mortaring an exterior wall with lime mortar using a sealant gun. Well worth attending if you want to save money and add another string to your DIY bow!

You took to it so quickly, and its great to hear that it felt easier than you expected once you got hands-on with it. Brilliant that you’re now feeling confident to tackle your bathroom sealant yourself (that’s the goal!).
And your lime mortar idea sounds like a really interesting project. Let me know how you get on. Thanks again for such a thoughtful review and for recommending the course.
