Best stay EVER
There are no words to describe our stay here. Three sisters in our 50s who have been on a magical cycling holiday through Cape Town and the Winelands. This was the icing on the cake. Between us we have travelled and stayed many places around the world but this topped them all. 6* service. Olde worlde charm. Warm welcome. Incredible food. High tea on arrival in front of a roaring fire. Time in the garden by the beautiful pool. Cycling round the grounds. Pre dinner sparking wine and dips in the lounge. Incredible 4 course dinner. Lovely bath and best sleep ever in a room thankfully with no TV and beautiful bed. Morning game drive with the amazing Esmerelda followed by the best breakfast/brunch of our lives. How can we only have been here one night? We will be back. I am sure again and again. Thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful home away from home. Karen victoria and Jane
Great farm house for a few nights near Cape Town.
The food was the die for. Rooms were rustic nur incredibly well kept for their age. Everything worked and the team were extremely friendly.

Luxurious farm stay
This is an absolute gem of an agritourism and farm stay experience with 6 star service and food. The short drive from Cape Town was beautiful through the winelands and farms, and the old homestead is beautifully decorated and the suite is outstanding. The gardens are spectacular with views of the mountains beyond. The food and drinks are outstanding, both dinner and brunch were delicious with an incredible selection. The drive through the private nature reserve was a highlight and we could have kept going for hours. Big thank you to Esmeralda who was such a great host and knowledgeable guide.

Heron House stay- magical !
Best house I have stayed in for a family holiday The kitchen is well equipped and huge Each bedroom is en-suite and large - very comfy The view of the mountain and reserve is so calm The pool is great The service ! This is like 100% better than and air bnb - because at air bnb you are just expected to make it work with what is there , but at heron you can ask anything and they are a moment away and arrive smiling and ready to help. It is also so well looked after - so many air Bnb’s look tattered these days. A tip is even though it is pricey definitely get a meal delivered to you fully booked - it’s amazing ! We did one dinner and one breakfast and it was well worth it We also had meals delivered that we cook, like lasagne and chicken already prepared and we just cook it- they were amazing and HUGE. The morning walks are epic and easy Can do a 1 hrs loop easily Only small downsides: The oven is a fact smeg oven and is really difficult to operate , a standard oven would be much better The bugs are really bad - at night you really have to spray yourself and have mosquito repellent burning - they get through nets and are a nuisance The canoe area was just a bit tricky to use on our own and I am sure if we had asked they would have helped but it’s tricky and had a step area to release boats so I would suggest asking for help before Loved our stay so much

We had the most blissful 5 day stay at Heron House. The staff insight were beyond friendly and helpful. The house is incredibly comfortable, and perfect for our 2 families staying. The location is very private and the views over the Nature Reserve are magnificent. Can’t wait to come back !

Hugging the mountains and located on a private farm and nature reserve, this place is something special. The gardens are luscious and cleverly surrounded by trees to provide shelter from the wind (on one of the days we stayed, the wind was pumping but we just had a pleasant breeze cooling us from the hot sun). The suite we stayed in was well-appointed and not too flashy or gaudy - I'll call it rustic chic. The food was phenomenal - brunch, tea and four-course dinner - I've eaten at many fine dining establishments in Cape Town and the food is on par or better, while portions are definitely very generous. Facilities are excellent - a stunning boat house down by the reservoir (we didn't spot any fish eagles but they are about) with kayaks for guest use, nature reserve drives, an amazing pool and seating area on the lawns, lovely walks and mountain bike rides etc. But underpinning a fabulous stay was the staff, who are genial, ever helpful, knowledgeable and passionate. They went the extra mile to organise a special moment for my engagement to my fiance, for which I was incredibly grateful and made us feel like royalty for the remainder of the weekend. Highly recommend a stay and I look forward to visiting again soon.

Using this as the sleeping arrangement for the bride and groom family over the wedding weekend was a great selection.
The property is located in a great scenic area, and the owners are very accommodating.

Incredible spot. Pictures hardly do it justice! It is such a privilege to be on the edge of a peaceful national park, a swimming lake and farm life. The house itself is set in a lush garden, every nook built with care. Kitchen well-stocked, the left us fresh milk, rusks and sweet wine. Spacious outdoor living, massive rooms; we were five people but you could comfortably host 10 in the five double bedrooms. Truly special place, we will be back!
