Hetty and the team have been great - when the properties we were interested in became unavailable, some great alternatives were offered, one of which we will be moving into soon! Any questions we have had have been answered efficiently, anything from information about the property to help with completing forms along the application process is just a phonecall away. For first time movers, we can't recommend Aspire to move enough.

During a rental with Aspire To Move, we had our gas shut off due to a leak. For the duration of this shutoff, we had no central heating or hot water, and were graciously provided small heaters and a camping shower by the gas company. For the 8 months our hot water was off, the lovely team at Aspire were very kind in refusing to lower our rent, and would not let us contact our landlord about their property which we were continuing to pay full price for. By the end of this ordeal, we moved out before the flat was ever provided with hot water, and still received no aid from Aspire or any contact from our landlord. After negotiation, our landlord offered us a token gift of £1,000 each, not nearly enough to justify the conditions they made us live in at the cost of £1800 a month. For 8 months of a cold, damp flat we received a refund of less than 2 months rent. This letting agency is our first choice if we want to funnel money directly to an uncaring landlord, and recommend you to do the same.

To clarify, the gas supply to the entire building including privately owned flats was condemned by the gas board due to a serious leak. This was an unforeseen and unprecedented issue, Aspire had no control over the timeline for resolution. All parties, including Aspire, the landlord, the block management company, and the gas board, were involved in ongoing discussions to try and find a resolution as quickly as possible.
Temporary measures were put in place by the gas board, including the provision of electric heaters and a camping shower, and additional white goods were also offered by us to support you during this time although we understand these were declined.
Regarding compensation:
At no point was compensation refused. Your landlord sought professional legal advice to ensure that any compensation offered was fair and reasonable given the circumstances. They were provided with a sliding scale of what would be deemed appropriate in a court of law and chose to offer compensation at the higher end of that scale. A settlement was subsequently agreed upon and signed by all parties as a full and final resolution.
We also want to clarify that an early release from your tenancy was offered to help you find alternative accommodation, but this option was declined. Your landlord had requested a fully managed service, they opted not to be contacted directly, this was not Aspire refusing communication but rather following the agreed management instructions.
Since your departure, the property has not been re-let until new electric heating is installed, which demonstrates that both Aspire, and your landlord took the issue seriously and did not want future tenants to face similar disruption.
We appreciate that the situation was stressful and far from ideal and we appreciate your patience during this time. However, we genuinely believe that all parties, including your landlord, acted responsibly and fairly in extremely difficult circumstances. While we stand by the steps we took in this situation, we’re always open to feedback and will continue to improve wherever we can.
