ARB contacted me to let me know about my part in an inheritance. Without any other information, and thinking they were needed in this process, I agreed to have them “represent” me (as did many of the members of my family). Not much information was given to me (us) about what their role in this was, and getting updates from them was few and far between. Little did I know the estate was going to perform a search on heirs to the estate, and lawyers were representing us in behalf of the estate, and its (ARB) services really weren’t needed. The company received a hefty amount of money (from all of the heirs) for basically doing nothing (at least, we have no account of what they actually did). Had I known beforehand, I would have never signed anything with them.
When a loved one dies or you are advised you are entitled to an inheritance, many people will feel as though they need to be represented by an outside source (such as ARB). Don’t let this company, or any other that feed off of this weakness, talk you into signing a contract with them to “represent” you. I advise you to save that part of your inheritance and let the estate handle the work. Or, if you feel you need to be represented, see what is entailed on your behalf before signing anything. This company really disappointed us all (the heir) and I feel took advantage of an unknown situation, and instant money coming to the heirs. Good luck to all of you who receive an inheritance, but do your homework before signing anything. It is likely you will not need ARB. I didn’t.

American Research Bureau contacted us me about a relative who passed to decide if I qualified as an heir. Some of my relatives were skeptical about signing up for their services. The process happened in the time expected and they fulfilled their agreement to me.
I would recommend using them. I only wish I had tried to negotiate for lower fees because I had a lot of sticker shock once my payout came.
