Being from Hawai'i, I am accustomed to Leonard's malasadas. Jay's malasadas tasted good (I tried the regular, snow cap, and custard), but were a little too donut-like for me. Don't get me wrong, they tasted good, but they weren't exactly true malasadas. But I guess they were good enough. I'm not sure I'd make the 45 min drive frequently to get them, but maybe once a year, if I were really homesick. Oh, and malasadas are a Portuguese donut, not a Hawaiian one, although I guess they were popularized in Hawai'i. In my opinion, they were good enough, but not so good as to make me want to frequent the establishment. But for those who don't know any better, yeah, they're good.
I was delighted to have a local coffee shop open on a Sunday. My latte was made fresh and it was drinkable straight away. Often, other coffee shops will make their lattes screaming hot, and you can't drink them for an hour, or you burn your mouth.
The staff was polite and friendly and very informative when asking about the menu.
Aloha Jay's Malasadas is a welcome addition to Hellernown and I wish them much success in the future.

If you haven't been to Aloha Jay's yet, stop what you’re doing and go. Their malasadas are always incredible, but the breakfast sandwich is a game-changer for the area. The airy texture of the malasada 'bun' is light as a cloud and tastes amazing. It's the ultimate local breakfast treat—definitely worth the trip!
