Magical wedding day I recently had my wedding at Allerton Castle and honestly, I can not fault a single thing, our day was so magical and special and that's thanks to the venue staff, the whole day ran smoothly and the build up to the day was also stress free. We travelled over 4hours to have our wedding at Allerton Castle and it was so worth it! Thank you so much everyone, we appreciate everything you did for our day. xxx

Absolutely incredible experience! The castle itself is breathtaking, but what truly amazed me was the trust—we were left completely free to explore, with every room open for us to use during our photoshoot. It felt so unique and special, unlike any other castle I’ve visited. Everything was spotless, warm, and so well cared for. The gardens were like something out of a fairytale—lush green grass and perfectly kept grounds. This photoshoot was unforgettable, and I’ll always remember how magical it felt. Alerton Castle is truly one of a kind.

☕ The guided building tour begins with coffee and biscuits, a welcome bit of fortification before embarking on a captivating journey that stretches over two hours. The tour delves into the lives of past residents, weaving together stories of grandeur and decline. Once a proud home, the property eventually fell into disrepair—until Dr. Rolph stepped in. In 1983, he purchased the building and began a painstaking restoration, returning it to its former glory not once, but twice—after a devastating fire threatened to erase his efforts. Highly recommend, but do book in advance.

Thank you Dr Rolph Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, elegant, spectacular and at times bizarre rooms and furniture, and an inordinately number of beds - not convinced by the bridal suite but make up your own mind - 2 wonderful and knowledgeable guides in Linda and Jane - and complementary tea/coffee - totally recommended. Thanks very much.

Not in the actual Stately home, although a wedding was taking place on the Sunday and I saw the bride posing for fotos on the garden steps. I was in the parkland that encircled the wonderful building with other members of the North Yorkshire Driving Club. We had a great weekend and the weather favoured us most of the time.

Allerton Castle, an absolutely magnificent piece of Gothic architecture, has been home to many families over the course of nearly two centuries. Today, its breathtaking beauty serves as the backdrop for various celebrations, including weddings and anniversaries. You can seize the golden opportunity to admire the castle’s grandeur for just $10, £8, or ₹900. Moreover, it's famous for its eerie atmosphere and ghostly sightings, and ranks as the seventh most haunted castle in the world.

FABULOUS: THAT'S THE BUILDING AND THE STAFF I came upon Allerton Castle by chance and what a wonderful discovery it was. The building is magnificent but it's the warm welcome from the staff that makes it such a memorable experience. The estate manager, Mr Stewart, went above and beyond to make my visit a pleasant one: the distilled essence of good, honest, customer service. I was telling a friend about it, and he said that he'd done a guided tour one Wednesday afternoon and it was terrific. My friend has travelled all over the world, visiting museums and heritage sites, put that tour, by a charming elderly chap with a truly fluent knowledge, in his top 3 in the world. They do a lot of filming in the buildings, costume dramas and you can see why, for all the remarkable design, it feels so authentic, almost intimate, which is rare in such a grand building. It is rare to find such a wonderful building run by such wonderful staff.
