Matthew provided the best of car rental service! Fair price, super communications and total convenience. He was waiting when we came thru arrivals, did a joint walk around and quick familiarity with RHD. Then on way to our hotel, Matthew gave a quick tour of key areas of Ballesterre. So helpful! Our exploring was also helped by his Dad's island tour and dining guide. Never disappointed by any of those choices.
Overall it was a wonderful rental experience and we felt so at home with Matthew's home town experience. Highly recommend ABC for rentals in St. Kitts!

This was the best rental car experience. I usually go with the chains for car rental, and I am not used to this kind of white glove service. Matthew picked us up at the airport, had all the paperwork for me to sign while I waited for the rest of the party that needed to wait for their luggage. Matthew gave me a few EC$ for to get out of the parking lot and we were on the road with ZERO delay! Better yet: For a small fee, he picked up our car from our Hotel parking lot when our term was over and filled up the tank at cost. Since we were staying at the Park Hyatt at the very south end of the peninsula, this service was a real time and money saver for us! Six stars!

During my 4 month stay on St. Kitts, I rented a car from ABC Car Hire for 17 days and was extremely pleased with my experience. Matthew was very friendly and personable and delivered the vehicle to my hotel and dropped me off after I returned it to him.
The vehicle was an older model, however it ran perfectly and I never had any problems with it.
I had previously rented a vehicle from another island business, but ABC's price was much lower, the car was in better condition, and unlike the other business, there was no pressure to give a 5 star review while I was in the office after I returned it.
I will definitely rent from ABC Car Hire next year when I return.

My wife and I rented a car from ABC during our stay on St Kitts, and Matthew was fantastic to work with. Prior to our arrival, we communicated via email and WhatsApp, and Matthew met us at the airport with our car. We got the local temporary driver’s permit from him, paid for the car, and he gave us a map, walked us through recommendations, etc. all in about 10-15 mins.
At the end of our rental, we were taking the water taxi from Reggae Beach to Nevis. Matthew offered to meet us on the way to Reggae Beach and drove us to the water taxi, which made our car return seamless.
The only minor hiccup we experienced was that the entertainment center in the car was in Japanese, and there was some kind of error message which didn't allow us to listen to music. But, that was a minor inconvenience for the few days we were on the island.
I wouldn't hesitate the recommend Matthew and ABC for someone visiting St. Kitts and wanting to explore the island.

I had a reservation with Thrifty. When I arrived they had no cars and drove me to the Marriott. They promised to call me the next day to arrange for a car. Of course I never heard from Thrifty. The concierge recommended ABC Car Hire. Within an hour Alan from ABC delivered a car to me at the Marriott. I saved over $100 USD vs. Thrifty. I highly recommend ABC.

I would definitely recommend renting from ABC car hire. Matthew was at the airport like he said he’d be, showed us the car and went over rules and tips for driving on the opposite side of the road in another country we weren’t familiar with. He was so kind to give us a map of the island along with many recommendations of places to see and restaurants to eat at. He also left a nice deck of cards with popular tourist spots/restaurants to visit. Price was on point, cheaper than other companies. He was very reliable and kept in contact with us leading up to the trip. Will 100% rent from this company again.

We recently hired a car last minute and the whole process was seamless. I forwarded driving licence details when booking as you need a local licence and this was ready when the car was dropped off. Drop off and pick up from our hotel, friendly staff (cheers Mathew) and a map of the island with additional local knowledge provided. We prefer to use a local company for car hire, so we were pleased Matthew had a car for us. The CRV we hired was over 10 years old with lots of wear and tear marks, yet we have no problem with older cars and we’re pleased with it as it was clean and a model we had previously owned.
However, on our second day returning from Nevis on the ferry, the car refused to start. We immediately contacted ABC who did not respond to our texts or answer our calls. With support from the ferry crew, who were amazing, we were able to trigger the automatic gearbox over-ride (which was very worn - this was clearly not the first time this has happened) and push the car off the ferry.
As we had still not been able to speak to ABC, we searched the car for another number which we found on the credit card receipt and managed to speak to Matthew’s wife. He was very apologetic and agreed to provide us with a different car. Although this other car was smaller and cheaper, he refused to offer any kind of refund.
I would not recommend ABC because the car was unreliable. The automatic gearbox over-ride was worn indicating that this was a reoccurring fault, yet Matthew claimed the car had been 100% reliable. Not being able to contact Matthew (who was gardening) made sorting the break-down very stressful. I would not hire from a one man band again as there’s no back-up. An acknowledgment of the stress and inconvenience the breakdown caused would have been appreciated rather than the no refunds glib remark.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m genuinely sorry for the stress you experienced at the ferry — I understand how unsettling a starting issue can feel while travelling.
For accuracy and for the benefit of future customers, I’d like to clarify a few points. When the vehicle had difficulty starting at the Nevis ferry, it was subsequently started and driven off the ferry. After returning to our base, the vehicle started normally, and the following morning it was inspected by a mechanic and test-driven, with no faults found. It has since remained in service without any reported issues.
We also followed up directly with ferry staff who were present at the time. They confirmed that the vehicle was not pushed off the ferry, that the battery was fine, and that there was no mechanical failure.
Once contact was made using the second number provided on the booking form, we responded immediately and exchanged the vehicle within minutes, as requested. The full exchange process took less than an hour, and we did our best to minimise disruption.
Regarding the gearbox override, this is a standard safety feature on older automatic vehicles and shows normal wear consistent with age, not a recurring defect.
On the matter of compensation, I’d also like to clarify that this was provided. The vehicle was returned without refuelling, and we waived the fuel charge. The cost of refuelling exceeded the difference in hire rate between the two vehicles, and a copy of the receipt was sent the same day.
We are a small, family-run business and manage all calls directly. While there was a brief delay initially, once contact was made we acted immediately.
We appreciate all feedback and take vehicle safety and customer service seriously.
