As often as we can we come to this amazing restaurant. To the owner, to all the staff, take out or dine in, the food is amazing, delicious, and alot, and everyone nice and helpful. Every restaurant should take a lesson here on customer service and attentiveness, it's why we all come back time and time again, though we don't live around the corner anymore, we will always take the ride back.
It's a no-go if you have allergies. Ordered take-out, the person on the phone told me the meal was safe. It wasn't, I called to double check and he insisted it was safe until I asked him to check with the kitchen. Owner gave a refund but told me that some of his staff doesn't know about allergies.
Please don’t call this chicken doner. It’s neither real doner nor tasty. As for the service, even though there were only four tables at lunchtime, the staff were indifferent and inattentive. Some items listed on the menu weren’t served unless we specifically asked for them. Sorry, but this place is definitely overrated.
EDIT Oct 2025: I think I'm done with this place. The food is still good, the decor is still old and dated - which is ok since it's not a fine dining establishment. But at this last visit the prices went up exponentially (again) and the portion reduced DRASTICALLY. I usually ordered a few of the same dishes from time to time and one of them was their take on a Gyro Pizza. It's just that...a pita with gyro meat, sauce and melted mozzarella. It had always been a generous portion which I was able to finish with some effort (I'm 6'-1", thin and in good shape - I'm not a fat slob). When I ordered it a few days ago, the size was noticeably smaller - I was really surprised when it was served but didn't say anything.... but my wife even noticed and said "what happened to that?" It was almost laughable. It was now on a small pita and served on a little round plate. It used to be about $14 and now was $18 (almost a 30% increase and nearly 1/2 the portion size).
These days, people are beaten down and forced to get used to rising prices - but to raise prices considerably AND reduce portions is unacceptable.
EDIT Jan 2023: Lost a few stars out of principal because they stopped serving the once-complimentary dish of chick-pea salad during lunch (even though the lunch and dinner menu is the same). How cheap can they be? Probably less than 50 cents worth of chick peas (chick peas are very inexpensive - maybe all in the salad cost them $1.00) Prices went up on every dish but they just had to keep finding places to cut. Such a small item that saves minimal cost results in less desire to go there anymore. Gyros went up $3.
Original Review: The best Gyros around. Yes, the place is dated but it's not a place you go for atmosphere. I've eaten there and the service is always very good and friendly, but we take-out most times - they've never gotten an order wrong. Their chick pea salad is better than most other Greek restaurants and the Greek salad is fresh and appealing. We've moved a few miles away and are near another popular Greek restaurant, but we always go back to Akropolis. As others have said, it's a little hole in the wall at the end of a shopping center. You probably would pass right by it if you weren't looking for it. Most times the restaurant is busy but even if it isn't, takeout is always active.
Ordered Uber eats and got the most disgusting soggy mess of a salad . With hardly any feta cheese and giant chunks Of unripened tomatoes, and giant chunks of cucumbers and onions just gross .Definitely not worth $45
And when I called the restaurant to inquire about why the salad dressing was already on the salad they told me that's the way they do it, which is very odd because when are ordering a takeout salad who are they to assume when you're going to eat it . And the salad showed up within 35 minutes a soggy disgusting soaked mess unedible .
So diners, beware Customer Service sucked almost as bad as the salad . I wouldn't recommend this place at all .. What a waste of money .
